Leslie North’s second book in the Beckett Brothers series, Wrangling His Sexy Assistant, is filled with passion as well as has controversy laced throughout. With a believable plot and realistic characters, it’s easy to breeze through the story. Ms North is known for writing stories that are not only entertaining, but also can be read quickly and still be enjoyable...this Beckett Brothers installment is one such story.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Hunter was used to taking care of everything. His family. The animals of the county. Any problems that arose he was the person you called on to help. He is finally doing something for himself and having an intern join him to continue the requirements of holding his veterinarian license. Falling for his new intern could definitely bring down the man who has worked himself to the bone and has simply forgotten how to live.

If you love cowboy romance and fun characters, then you will love Hunter and Kit's story in "Wrangling His Sexy Assistant". When Hunter's assistant Kit outbids all the females in the bachelor auction to save him, things start to sizzle between them. But as her mentor in the veterinarian residency program, he must keep his distance. Kit is a distraction, and as the two of them try to avoid complications that would arise, things between them heat up. The second in the series, it stands alone with fun and romance, and is one that is not to be missed for readers of the genre. Hunter and Kit's story is just straight out fun reading. **I was gifted "Wrangling His Sexy Assistant" via NetGalley** My opinion is based on my reading. 4.25 Stars!

Without a doubt, Leslie North knows how to write a gripping story. The amount of steam and drama can be found in abundance, This book is another win for Ms. North!

The book opens with a bachelors auction. When a lady who wants Hunter (a vet) to dress as a woman to treat her dog almost wins Kit (his assistant) steps in with a mercy bid. Her dream has always been to work with animals both large and small so that she can expand her father's practice when she returns fully qualified.
I enjoyed this book and thought it better than the first in the trilogy.

Two veterinarians trying not to fall for each other as one mentors the other. This was a cute romance but it seemed really short.

Hunter Beckett is the local veterinarian and had to take on an intern for the year. Her name Kit Cowie and she is from the big city of Houston where her father is expecting her to come home and take over there family practice of small animals. She though wants to work on large animals and is happy for the chance with working at Hunter’s hospital except he does not let her do anything. This changes the night of the local auction in town and the ladies have got the most eligible bachelor on the stage. With the bidding getting higher Kit raises the bid and wins. She also goes out on a date with him that leads to more than what she was hoping for and as much as Hunter tried to stay away he does not. Just when everything is going good he lets her leave going back to Houston without a fight. Disappointed she goes. Now weeks later he is forced to make a decision one way or another about Kit. See what he does and how he got there with this good story.

Wrangling His Sexy Assistant is the second book in the Beckett Brothers series by Leslie North. While each book features one individual couple, there are spoilers in that there are interactions with the previous couple.

The book opens on a bachelor auction with the town vet Hunter the subject of a bidding war. To save him from an ardent bidder, his veterinary assistant Kit wins the sale in exchange for the opportunity to work on large animals. Hunter knows he should limit the time he spends with Kit because acting on his growing attraction is frowned on. But when they deal with a problematic case, the adrenaline and joy at a successful outcome leads to a passionate kiss.

This was an acceptable read. I have read several of Ms North's books in the last few weeks, and they follow a predictable pattern. The main characters are very attracted to each other, but for one reason or another, they don't want to act on that chemistry. Reading similar books can lead to burning out with the genre, and that's what happened here for me.

I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This is book two in a series but can be read as a stand alone book. Kit is working for Hunter Beckett to finish her residency in her veterinarian classes.

They both fight the attraction that they have for each other but after one hot kiss, they give in and have a secret fling but both end up with feelings for the other.

Kit really wants to work with large animals and has been shaped into taking over her father's practice and doesn't fight it. While Hunter misses her when she leaves, he does finally wake up and realize that he has no life without her.

Nice HEA!

Veterinarian Hunter Beckett got roped into his a bachelor auction to raise funds for a local charity. But when women start bidding on him like crazy—one aggressive hairdresser in particular—Hunter’s in need of a savior and finds it in the form of Kit, his veterinary resident. It’s a mercy purchase, but one that puts him in a bind: Kit wants something in return.

Kit Cowie’s come all the way out to the boonies because of her love of large animal medicine, and because Hunter needs a new resident. But Hunter is holding her back from doing what she really wants to do.. But one kiss will set things off between them. But will Hunter allow things to progress or put a stop to everything.

As the two get more involved, they face the real possibility that their growing love could lay waste to their reputations or become something far more precious.

It was a cute story that was full of what I'd expect from Leslie North. A high heat level between the female main character and male character. There was adorable banter. I liked it.

I have to say, I’m so glad I didn’t let the cover and the title turn me away because I really enjoyed this one! I’m not a huge fan of the title, or the cover, but honestly the story had a lot of key romance elements I enjoy. I like the younger woman, older man pairing and this was especially enjoyable because she was a strong and independent woman while he was an independent and somewhat shy romantic man.

The pacing in this story was consistent, as was the dual perspectives which made it really easy to get into and read quickly. I liked seeing how both characters were affected by their families and felt responsible for helping, or taking over where they could. Both Hunter and Kit were complex characters who didn’t reveal too much to each other at the start which built tension and helped push the story forward.

There was one thing I wasn’t a huge fan of, and that was that almost every character wanted Hunter and Kit to be together despite him being her supervisor. I appreciated that Hunter and Kit acknowledged his role as her superior and how that affected their ability to have a relationship. This was a key plot point and while as a reader I wanted them to get together despite that, I was surprised that a lot of secondary characters want them to get together despite that as well.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it quickly and enjoyed the story beyond the fact that it had some moderately steamy scenes. I appreciated the character development, pace, plot points, and romance. There are some sex scenes but there’s a good balance between description and steam which enhanced the story without being too gratuitous.

Wrangling His Sexy Assistant is the second book in the Beckett Brothers series. This was such a good story! I really enjoy books that have an animal story line and this one was great! It was a nice and easy going with really awesome characters. I read it in one day and could not put it down. I can't wait to read the next book.

Hunter Beckett is the town veterinarian with the world on his shoulders. Of course, he put the world there. He has taken it upon himself to look after his two brothers (and their ranch animals). The worry he carries for those around him gives him a good heart but forces him to prioritize his life. And those priorities do not include a wife. In walks Kit Cowie. Kit is a veterinary resident in need of the final hours for her degree. She wants to be involved in large and small animal medicine but also carries the burden of family expectation. During the course of the novel, both Kit and Hunter have to learn to trust each other and follow their own paths. Luckily, that path involves falling in love.

Overall, this was a good story. If you like gruff cowboys who are won over by the bubbly assistant, this is the book for you. The writing was well done and included moments of humor to offset some of the hard life lessons they had to learn. Both characters seemed like average people in a real life situation and the ending was very believable.
