When Georgis finally meets the man of her dreams, everything else starts to go wrong. Luke has an ex-girlfriend, Cadence. He tells Georgia that Cadence is not coping with their breakup. But Georgia feels that there is more to it.

I really e enjoyed this fast paced, twist filled thriller. This is a tense and suspenseful read. The characters are well rounded and believable. It's hard to review this book without giving away spoilers. This is a well written story with a great plotline that you will find hard to put down. A great read.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Penguin UK - Michael Joseph and the author Nicola Moriarty for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

An edge of your seat, fast paced psychological thriller that will have you flying through the pages at break neck speed and a definite candidate for psychological thriller of the year!

This is one of those books that it is almost impossible to review without giving away any spoilers and I certainly don’t want to ruin it for anyone. All the red herrings and plot twists is what gives this book an edge. Some were fairly predictable, others completely blindsided me. It is the level of tension and expectation of what will happen next that makes this a gripping page turner of a book. While the who becomes obvious quite quickly, the why will undoubtably surprise you!

Luke is every girls dream man, he handsome, charming, caring and makes you feel safe so it doesn’t came as a surprise to Georgia that Lukes ex-girlfriend is finding it hard to let him go.

As Georgia and Lukes relationship blossoms there is only one small hitch, Cadence, and it is not long before that small hitch escalates into a massive hitch. One that shows no signs of going away. From sending Luke text messages to leaving notes on Georgia’s car it becomes clear that Georgia is being stalked by Cadence and when the troubles ultimately follow her into work Cadence decides to confront her and put an end to it all once and for all.

If only it was that simple!

The characters are well written and feel real, the tension and emotions come through the page sucking you in from the very start, I even found myself wanting to shout at the characters at one point!

Compelling, suspenseful and utterly captivating. If there is only one psychological thriller you read this year then this is the one!

The Ex-Girlfriend will be published on 31 October 2019 and is available to pre-order now from Amazon UK

A big thank you to the author Nicola Moriarty, publishers Penguin UK – Michael Joseph and NetGalley for my advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest and independent review.

A truly gripping , twisty , intriguing novel
Georgia is an everyday girl job as a nurse and no love life until a friend talks her into tinder, she agrees and arranges to meet up with a guy. He stands her up and fortunately for her a handsome stranger saves her from a depressing ending
Luke is almost too perfect he is her dream man and she is soon falling for him which is when he tells her about his ex girlfriend Cadence who is not happy he is moving on
Things turn nasty from then as Cadence stalks Georgia
Georgia starts having panic attacks and doesn't know where to turn why is cadence doing this to her??

Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin UK for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

After being stood up by her Tinder date, Georgia ends up meeting Luke, who becomes her perfect boyfriend. The problem is he still lives with his ex-girlfriend Cadence, until the lease is up and she is very jealous that he has moved on. Georgia starts receiving stalker style texts and notes from Cadence as well as from Brett, the Tinder date that stood her up.

This is a book where you understand that things are too good to be true and things really aren't as they seem. Because of that I found the first 50% to be pretty predictable and almost sort of boring, but the last 50% picked up and held my interest. This book was nothing ground breaking, but once it hit its stride, it turned out to be pretty good.

I thought this was going to be a love story , but no it had twists and turns that kept me up at night reading on. A fabulous read, great characters and a storyline that got deeper than I could have expected. Highly recommend.

Thank you to the publishers and netgalley for the opportunity to read this book early in return for an honest review.

If you look at the title, read the blurb, know your psychological thrillers and think you can guess the premise and outlay of this book, you would be right!
It is exactly as it says its going to be
If you love these kind of stories then its the equivalent of a comfort food meal, exactly what you want and enjoyable!
I Do love these kind of tales and love the ‘knowing whats going on’ before they do kinda thing and pretty much guessed like a dot to dot the first 75% of the book, I didnt really warm to the characters but didnt overly dislike them either, the setting in Australia made a nice change and the writing was fine, it was all just ‘good’
And then it changed, the last 25% was WOAHHHHHHH and it turned into a fast paced, exciting and nerve jangling thriller....I would have liked this maybe a bit earlier but as I say the first 75% was more than acceptable
The ending is worthy of a shouted ‘YES’ although the last line was kinda weak but by then the deed had been done and it was cheers all round that the baddie had got his just desserts ( and he is a baddie, he is vile )
A happy place read which turned into a thrilling edge of your seat ( or wherever your reading) ending
4 Stars

I loved it! Although be warned, there are some spoilers ahead, so please don’t read any further if you haven’t read the book!

This is one of those rare books where you can call some of the things that will happen quite early on, but it doesn’t stop you enjoying it at all. And the remainders of the plot were so good! I have to admit I haven’t had a great time with thrillers recently, but this has got me right back on track.

Cadence’s sections in particular were heartbreaking - seeing the gradual decent into anxiety due to a psychologically abusive relationship was brutal, but so so accurate and well written.

Overall, I was really impressed by this book. While there were some areas that were a tiny bit predictable, it didn’t impact upon my enjoyment of the novel, and there were enough twists to maintain my interest.

Nicola Moriarty delivers a rollercoaster of a read in ‘The ex-girlfriend’. You think you got the plot sussed....but quickly discover you are very, very, wrong (but of course I’d be disappointed by anything less!)

The story is mainly told from the narrative of Georgia who falls head over heels for Luke. They rush into coupledom but Georgia soon feels threatened by Luke’s unhinged ex - Cadence. This is just the beginning of the rollercoaster ride, but when it comes to the plot I’m gonna leave it there as this story really needs to be enjoyed without spoilers. Like all good rollercoaster rides this one was over all to soon leaving a void which it’ll take a pretty engaging next read to fill!

My thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for the pleasure of reading this book in exchange for an honest review.

A great domestic thriller. Georgia meets Luke and they have a whirlwind romance. Luke moves in with Georgia to escape his ex=girlfriend who seems to be getting more deranged by the day. It appears it is going to be fairly predictable until the twists start to appear. I really enjoyed this easy but gripping read.

Thank you to Netgalley, Penguin Michael Joseph and Nicola Moriarty for my arc of The Ex-Girlfriend in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis: Luke is practically perfect, after everything she's been through Georgia is so happy she's finally found someone to settle down with, he's handsome, fit, funny, and supportive, the perfect man. The only problem is his ex-girlfriend. Luke tells her that Cadence is having problems accepting their break up, when things start to go wrong for Georgia and she becomes the victim of a vicious personal vendetta she knows that Cadence hasn't let go of Luke. She wants what Georgia has and Georgia has no idea what lengths she'll go to, to try and split them up.

I devoured this book. I mean I read it front to back until 2am this morning because it was so gripping, there was no chapter that ended in a way that I could put it down, so I just accepted that I'd be tired in the morning and read on! Nicola Moriarty writes great characters, they're so easy to empathise with and the writing is so fast paced, easy to read and makes you just NEED to know what happens next.

I did kind of work out the twist or at least have my suspicions early on but that just made it all the more gripping as I needed to know when the other characters would work it out. Another fantastic thriller from Nicola Moriarty.

Unfortunately, this was really disappointing from start to finish. When there are so many stories of a similar nature already out there, it's necessary to be clever if you want to stand out and make an impression which this book simply did not. While easy to read, the plot was incredibly predictable and it was easy to see where the story was heading which simply didn't make for an enjoyable reading experience. Nothing really happened and the characters are all really bland with no depth to connect with whatsoever.

It did take me a while to get into this book but I didn't find it had the 'grab' factor for me.

It was a well written book but I wasn't keen on the characters and I found it slow in parts and did a bit skim reading.

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Books (Michael Joseph Library) for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This started off like a run of the mill chic lit kind of book so I quickly became a little disenchanted with it but kept going a while longer. It all seemed very run of the mill, nothing deep but somehow also unrealistic. After reading several glowing reviews I decided to return to it and did enjoy the rest of the book, the second half is easily much better than the first.. There were some areas that beggared belief, in the hospital at the end and also the break ins and other glaring unrealistic scenarios. However I enjoyed the rest of it but would have appreciated a much more drawn out punishment for Luke (Sam) then the few pages at the conclusion. An interesting premise but it needed to be a bit less chic lit in the opening chapters.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Ex-Girlfriend by Nicola Moriarty. Billed as a psychological thriller with a killer twist it certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Georgia has had her troubles in the past and when she meets Luke, she feels he’s ‘The One’. But there’s a problem, Luke’s ex-girlfriend, Cadence. Luke says she’s having trouble accepting they’ve broken up, but Georgia feels there’s more to it, and when everything in her life seems to be going wrong, she starts to feel afraid.

This book had me hooked from the first page. It’s a real page turner that will draw you in and enthral to the very end.

I would rate this book 4.5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin UK Michael Joseph and the author for the chance to review.

I would say this was an easy simple read that was quite predictable.

Not long into starting to read did I start to guess where it was heading and I was spot on.

I just didn't feel it went anywhere and I was forever waiting for it to get started, a bit of a struggle for me if i'm honest.

My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my advance copy.

The story starts with Georgia meeting the man of her dreams. I felt that this part of the book went on far too long as the outcome was pretty obvious. However, once Cadence (awful name) takes over the narrative the action speeds up and becomes increasingly sinister and scary. Overall a really good read.
