If you look at the title, read the blurb, know your psychological thrillers and think you can guess the premise and outlay of this book, you would be right!
It is exactly as it says its going to be
If you love these kind of stories then its the equivalent of a comfort food meal, exactly what you want and enjoyable!
I Do love these kind of tales and love the ‘knowing whats going on’ before they do kinda thing and pretty much guessed like a dot to dot the first 75% of the book, I didnt really warm to the characters but didnt overly dislike them either, the setting in Australia made a nice change and the writing was fine, it was all just ‘good’
And then it changed, the last 25% was WOAHHHHHHH and it turned into a fast paced, exciting and nerve jangling thriller....I would have liked this maybe a bit earlier but as I say the first 75% was more than acceptable
The ending is worthy of a shouted ‘YES’ although the last line was kinda weak but by then the deed had been done and it was cheers all round that the baddie had got his just desserts ( and he is a baddie, he is vile )
A happy place read which turned into a thrilling edge of your seat ( or wherever your reading) ending
4 Stars

I really enjoyed reading ‘The Ex-Girlfriend’ and was pleasantly surprised that there were a few twists along the way which were unexpected. If you enjoy psychological thrillers and I would definitely recommend this book!

I loved it! Although be warned, there are some spoilers ahead, so please don’t read any further if you haven’t read the book!

This is one of those rare books where you can call some of the things that will happen quite early on, but it doesn’t stop you enjoying it at all. And the remainders of the plot were so good! I have to admit I haven’t had a great time with thrillers recently, but this has got me right back on track.

Cadence’s sections in particular were heartbreaking - seeing the gradual decent into anxiety due to a psychologically abusive relationship was brutal, but so so accurate and well written.

Overall, I was really impressed by this book. While there were some areas that were a tiny bit predictable, it didn’t impact upon my enjoyment of the novel, and there were enough twists to maintain my interest.

Nicola Moriarty delivers a rollercoaster of a read in ‘The ex-girlfriend’. You think you got the plot sussed....but quickly discover you are very, very, wrong (but of course I’d be disappointed by anything less!)

The story is mainly told from the narrative of Georgia who falls head over heels for Luke. They rush into coupledom but Georgia soon feels threatened by Luke’s unhinged ex - Cadence. This is just the beginning of the rollercoaster ride, but when it comes to the plot I’m gonna leave it there as this story really needs to be enjoyed without spoilers. Like all good rollercoaster rides this one was over all to soon leaving a void which it’ll take a pretty engaging next read to fill!

My thanks to Netgalley, author and publisher for the pleasure of reading this book in exchange for an honest review.

A great domestic thriller. Georgia meets Luke and they have a whirlwind romance. Luke moves in with Georgia to escape his ex=girlfriend who seems to be getting more deranged by the day. It appears it is going to be fairly predictable until the twists start to appear. I really enjoyed this easy but gripping read.

I really enjoyed The Ex-Girlfriend, it's definitely my kind of book. It's very intense, full of twists and turns and had me hooked from the start. I thought the characters were all brilliantly written, I couldn’t put it down and didn’t know what to expect.
Very well written, this is the third book by Nicola Moriarty I have read and I would recommend this authrors books.

Thank you to Netgalley, Penguin Michael Joseph and Nicola Moriarty for my arc of The Ex-Girlfriend in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis: Luke is practically perfect, after everything she's been through Georgia is so happy she's finally found someone to settle down with, he's handsome, fit, funny, and supportive, the perfect man. The only problem is his ex-girlfriend. Luke tells her that Cadence is having problems accepting their break up, when things start to go wrong for Georgia and she becomes the victim of a vicious personal vendetta she knows that Cadence hasn't let go of Luke. She wants what Georgia has and Georgia has no idea what lengths she'll go to, to try and split them up.

I devoured this book. I mean I read it front to back until 2am this morning because it was so gripping, there was no chapter that ended in a way that I could put it down, so I just accepted that I'd be tired in the morning and read on! Nicola Moriarty writes great characters, they're so easy to empathise with and the writing is so fast paced, easy to read and makes you just NEED to know what happens next.

I did kind of work out the twist or at least have my suspicions early on but that just made it all the more gripping as I needed to know when the other characters would work it out. Another fantastic thriller from Nicola Moriarty.

Unfortunately, this was really disappointing from start to finish. When there are so many stories of a similar nature already out there, it's necessary to be clever if you want to stand out and make an impression which this book simply did not. While easy to read, the plot was incredibly predictable and it was easy to see where the story was heading which simply didn't make for an enjoyable reading experience. Nothing really happened and the characters are all really bland with no depth to connect with whatsoever.

It did take me a while to get into this book but I didn't find it had the 'grab' factor for me.

It was a well written book but I wasn't keen on the characters and I found it slow in parts and did a bit skim reading.

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Books (Michael Joseph Library) for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This started off like a run of the mill chic lit kind of book so I quickly became a little disenchanted with it but kept going a while longer. It all seemed very run of the mill, nothing deep but somehow also unrealistic. After reading several glowing reviews I decided to return to it and did enjoy the rest of the book, the second half is easily much better than the first.. There were some areas that beggared belief, in the hospital at the end and also the break ins and other glaring unrealistic scenarios. However I enjoyed the rest of it but would have appreciated a much more drawn out punishment for Luke (Sam) then the few pages at the conclusion. An interesting premise but it needed to be a bit less chic lit in the opening chapters.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Ex-Girlfriend by Nicola Moriarty. Billed as a psychological thriller with a killer twist it certainly doesn’t disappoint.

Georgia has had her troubles in the past and when she meets Luke, she feels he’s ‘The One’. But there’s a problem, Luke’s ex-girlfriend, Cadence. Luke says she’s having trouble accepting they’ve broken up, but Georgia feels there’s more to it, and when everything in her life seems to be going wrong, she starts to feel afraid.

This book had me hooked from the first page. It’s a real page turner that will draw you in and enthral to the very end.

I would rate this book 4.5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin UK Michael Joseph and the author for the chance to review.

I would say this was an easy simple read that was quite predictable.

Not long into starting to read did I start to guess where it was heading and I was spot on.

I just didn't feel it went anywhere and I was forever waiting for it to get started, a bit of a struggle for me if i'm honest.

My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for my advance copy.

The story starts with Georgia meeting the man of her dreams. I felt that this part of the book went on far too long as the outcome was pretty obvious. However, once Cadence (awful name) takes over the narrative the action speeds up and becomes increasingly sinister and scary. Overall a really good read.

Firstly thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the arc.
I thought this to be a well written story with lots of twists and turns, as expected in a Nicola Moriarty novel. Although some if the twists I found quite obvious, others were not and were enough to keep me gripped throughout.

This book is just excellent. As you turn the pages, you’re drawn further and further into a world of psychological fear and suspense. I wanted to dive under the covers to read it or put the light on. It’s really quite chilling and just trying to work out which of the characters is dangerous and which to trust, is almost impossible! There’s a feeling of being trapped in a nightmare; particularly when the lift gets stuck - Claustrophobia!
Even so, despite all the dark and disturbing events, I could not stop reading. It was as if I were being drawn
along by a need to reach the conclusion - whatever that might be.
Highly recommend this if you want something just a little bit scary

I really enjoyed this book. It had a great storyline and believable characters. I read it within a few days as it was engrossing. I definitely recommend it.

I enjoyed the book but had worked out what was happening quite early on so the reveal wasn't as shocking as it should have been and I was also disappointed with the ending. Guess I wanted more!

A well paced book with well developed characters. I sort of guessed the plot from about 40% in. However, this didn't deter from being a very enjoyable read.

When I first started this book, I was afraid that it was going to be a rewrite of the same story. Only because it was written by the brilliant Moriarty did I push past the first couple of pages and boy am I glad I did.
This is a brilliantly written story of the terrifying situations that can happen when girls meets boy. Each character is full of depth and has their own believable background

Georgia is currently in a good place, she is enjoying her work as a nurse and we meet her when she is waiting for her date organised through a dating app. Obviously slightly nervous sitting in a bar when two men hit on her and she is about to head off home when her knight in shining armour appears. Luke is her ideal, he too has been stood up: and so it begins!

The trouble is when you are a more mature reader and not really into all the social media, your approach to this premise is already slightly slewed. ‘No, no, no’ rebounds in my head. It can’t be right following right behind. Having said that I did enjoy the book it was well constructed even though I knew just what would happen. Smug or what? Clearly I didn’t know all the plot, but there you are.

Great book. Really well worth reading: tense, exciting.

Thank you to the author, publishers and NetGalley for providing an ARC via my Kindle in return for an honest review.
