This book was not your typical Christmas romance book. Instead it takes please over a longer period of time and shows us how Jenny starts to turn her life around. Due to a family issue, she decides to go and live in her inherited cottage from her grandmother. She has no money, no job, doesn't know anyone and due to family circumstances has lost all of her confidence.

It's a great story to hear how she lives next to a close neighbor and meets friends for the village. Full of a range of emotions, it's a fun read.

This week's book for my Christmassy NetGalley-athon was Beth Moran's Christmas Every Day. While it was a perfectly fine read there was one thing that I really didn't expect, and that was a bit of a disappointment - this isn't a Christmas story. It is told over the period of a year, starting at Christmas one year and finishing the next, but really it isn't even Christmas adjacent.

Now that I have that off my chest, here's the synopsis from Goodreads...

When Jenny inherits her estranged grandmother’s cottage in Sherwood Forest, she has nothing to lose - no money, no job, no friends, no family to speak of, and zero self-respect. Things can only get better...

Her grumpy, but decidedly handsome new neighbour, Mack, has a habit of bestowing unsolicited good deeds on her. And when Jenny is welcomed into a rather unusual book club, life seems to finally be getting more interesting.

Instead of reading, the members pledge to complete individual challenges before Christmas: from finding new love, learning to bake, to completing a daredevil bucket list. Jenny can’t resist joining in, and soon a year of friendship and laughter, tears and regrets unfolds in the most unexpected ways.

Ok, so the synopsis doesn't sound especially festive, but just look at that cover!
Lack of Christmassiness aside, this was a nice book. I wasn't mad about some elements of the writing - for instance the chapters often finished with a line leading to the next chapter - like "I wouldn't have believed what would happen next", which I didn't love.

The story itself was actually just the kind of thing I like to read - a main character finding herself (literally and figuratively) in a new place with a quirky-ish cast of supporting characters. It also features one of my favourite tropes - unlikely friends brought together by a common interest (in this case book club), with the narrative revolving around their friendships and how they support each other.

Just because they were kind of unexpected (although I should have read enough books about women's friendships to always expect these) I think it is worth giving a content warning for infant loss and also terminal illness.

I gave this one 2 out of 5 stars - having taken a half star off because of it not being Christmassy. To be honest, its entirely possible I might have given it 3 stars if I had not had the expectation that it would be more festive, but who can tell?
In short, this is a sweet story, but if you're after a Christmas cosy I'd skip it.

Feel good, sweet, heartwarming Christmas romance. If you're a fan of Hallmark's lineup of holiday films, tis one is for you.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved this book and read it in two sittings, I wanted to devour it.

It was funny and ultimately a chick lit, easy read book but it covered some intense topics along the way - divorce, break ups, financial issues, loneliness, fear, death, I'll health etc.. it was humourous but dealt with in a very good way and I got more from the book then the cover suggests.

I really recommend this book and would read others from the author

Thank you to netgalley for giving me an arc.

I really enjoyed this book. Not as relentlessly Christmassy as the title would suggest. Jenny's life has fallen apart when she moves into her grandmother's cottage - a house in the middle of nowhere, next to a sometimes helpful, sometimes rude but always gorgeous man, and filled with a lifetime worth of hoarding.
While Jenny's family, especially her sister, are quite horrible, the new friends she meets are quite lovely.
There are some quite predictable twists but they are nicely done and a very satisfying ending. A really enjoyable read.
Thank you Netgalley for the advanced copy in return for an honest review.

Jenny was hoping for a marriage proposal, instead she finds herself single, homeless, and without a job. Luckily, her mother gives her the keys to her grandmother’s house in Sherwood Forest, in big need of renovation after six years of abandonment. Thanks to her friendly and generous nature, Jenny quickly finds new friends, a job as nanny of five handful children, and an hilarious book club where challenges take the place of books. Her life is far from boring as she has to deal with a grumpy neighbour who helps her despite her protests, a persistent real estate agent, and family secrets to uncover.

Funny, entertaining, and full of amazing characters, Christmas Every Day is a fantastic rom-com and I really enjoyed it. I loved the small-town setting and the close-community atmosphere that welcome Jenny in Sherwood Forest. I laughed a lot and there is romance, friendship, and family, all together is this fabulous book.

I really liked the character of Jenny. She is fun, resilient, and loyal. She doesn’t let a neglected cottage full of old and dump stuff deter her from her goal. I liked how she developed and grew through the story, how she achieved what she wanted and she didn’t let bullies stop her.

Although the novel is not set at Christmas time, but throughout the year, the title is fitting and to find out why you really need to read it. If you are looking for a fun and refreshing story, then pick up Christmas Every Day!

This was an enjoyable book, set in Sherwood Forest. The title of the book was interesting as it was not really set around Christmas but over a period of time, however in relation to the story it was apt. The characters are strong and quirky, and the story line was full of unexpected turns.
The main character Jenny ends up jobless, homeless and with a broken relationship. The story concerns what happens next as she rebuilds her life. It concerns the community and friends that help and hinder her! The book also has a fantastic sub plot.
This was the first book I have read by Beth Moran , but I will be definitely be looking for her others. She has a fresh writing style and is a brilliant storyteller. The book comes alive to the reader.
Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood books, and Beth Moran for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is one of those festive reads which actually gives the Christmas part the light touch. It is the perfect story to ease yourself into the season. Jenny has plenty of edge to her and her attempts to sort out her grandmother's cottage are sure to make you smile. Similarly, there are some joyful descriptions of her life as a nanny, as she learns as she goes along how to deal with some little individuals. The chaos and the warmth she finds in this family are worlds apart from her own childhood. As she clears out her cottage, she begins to understand more about why this may be.

Simmering under the surface, Jenny has some deep- seated issues to come to terms with, concerning her family. Friendship is not something she has been able to find very often in the past and it is a delight to see her begin to open up. There is a wonderful variety of different characters who she befriends and the Christmas Book Club turns out to be an uplifting and supportive place to be. I loved the simmering romance which glinted just out of reach, which was obvious to everyone except the two involved.

In short: With genuine good humour and a few thought- provoking moments, this is a lovely read - do try it!
Thanks to the author for a copy of the book

A sweet and lovely story that transcends the clichés you'd expect from this formula. Instead, we get realistic characters whose motivations *make sense.* I was so pleasantly surprised and energized the further I got into this book, and I loved the unique angles such as the book club's goal-oriented book club. Seriously, why aren't more book clubs doing this?! A worthy use of your time when you'd like a light read and sweet turns.

The sort of cheerful book that will bring a smile to your face. In itself it is nothing groundbreaking, and arguably the Christmas theme is by the by, but for a relaxing feel good read you can’t go wrong.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was a little disappointed in this book- the plot was rather clearly telegraphed, and it felt like "Christmas" was included in the title simply to be included with Christmas themed books.

Now one of my favourite books EVER, CHRISTMAS EVERY DAY by Beth Moran is the perfect blend of wit, romance, and that little something called magic which combines to make this story engaging in every possible way.

Jenny has an estranged relationship with her mother who checked out years ago, and a volatile relationship with her twin sister who hates everything about her. But she has her secret romance which is about to become public when he proposes at their work party. Only he doesn't propose to her. He proposes to her twin. And so that is how Jenny finds herself jobless on the doorstep of a dilapidated cottage in Sherwood Forest that used to belong to her grandmother whom she knew nothing about. You would think things couldn't get worse but try sleeping in a car in a shed with rats for company! But Jenny knows that she needs to take some time to simply figure out who she is and what she really wants from life, and as she painstakingly begins to renovate the cottage, meet the locals, and make real friends for the first time in her life, things may just be starting to look up. If only she could stop putting her foot in it with her handsome and helpful next-door neighbour. But this quaint little village has its own snakes who want to see Jenny leave, and when a wife arrives next door and a wedding invitation brings her heartbreak roaring back into the present, will it ruin everything that Jenny has worked hard to build?

Engaging and witty from the very beginning, there was a real freshness to this story which made it stand out. Jenny is a wonderful character who is so relatable and loveable and I desperately wanted her to see her worth and find happiness. This small community with its host of quirky characters were excellent in every way and I was sad when I got to the end because I didn't want to say goodbye to them all. There is drama, high emotions, genuine friendship and more nestled among these pages but there is never a dull moment and CHRISTMAS EVERY DAY by Beth Moran is truly wonderful in every way. I cannot wait for more!!!

Thank you Boldwood Books for including me on the blog tour for this beautiful book. Christmas Every Day by Beth Moran is available now.

Christmas Every Day is not really a Christmas book despite the title. It is the story of Jenny. Jenny moves into her grandmother’s cabin, abandoned for years and not exactly a dream come true. Her next door neighbor is gruff and secretive and she moved in with no prospects and even less money. As we learn Jenny’s story and those of her new book club friends, you fall in love with the quaint little town and the immediate and complete support they give each other.

Simply a lovely book of learning to accept help and love and finding home in any circumstances, Christmas Every Day is such a heartwarming and happy read.

3.5 stars
Cute story, but nothing overly groundbreaking. I called the twists from a mile away and they weren't really that twisty in the first place. I loved the development of the friendships in this book and the book club's idea of choosing a goal to accomplish. Some parts of that are particularly meaningful and the mud run brought a tear to my eye (sounds strange, but you'll have to read it to see why). I didn't completely buy the attraction between Mack and Jenny, and they didn't even seem to be that good of friends with all of the secrets that were between them. Yet it was still heartwarming to see the attraction grow.
I have loved Moran's books in the past and will continue to read them.

'Oh I wish it could be Christmas, every dayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.'

Do you? Do you really? I couldn't handle the expense or the amount of food! Surely there would need to be some ground rules put in place before things got out of hand? Or am I thinking too deeply about something that actually won't happen.....

Anyway, Jenny has to start her life again. Well, not quite. I mean, she can't exactly go back where she came from and ask her mother to give birth to her again now can she? She does require a brand new start though after things got severely out of hand in her old job. I so wish I could divulge what happened as it is an absolute BELTER! But I can't, because I would be in trouble. Soz......

So, in the quest to find her new start, Jenny goes to live in a cottage which hasn't seen anyone live in it for many, many years. Seriously, you cannot count the copious amounts of rats that have taken over the house!

Jenny is STUBBORN! Not just a teensy bit stubborn so it's slightly endearing, she's stubborn to the point where you want to shout at her to accept help. I know that there are people who prefer to do things themselves without feeling like they owe anybody anything if they received help, I get that, I'm a stubborn ahem too. But come on, how often would you get a neighbour who seems to be a Jack of all trades, offering his services? Mind out of the gutter...

The community spirit in this book is phenomenal. I loved how everyone was there for one another, whether they had known them briefly or not, they just didn't turn anybody away. If one person had something they no longer needed but someone so desperately needed that item, they would give it to them no questions asked. How lovely is that? I can't even get my brother to share his cheese and onion crisps with me and I've known him 29 years! RUDE!

I lapped up every inch of this book, losing myself in the wonderful personalities of the characters, the emotive actions of certain characters, Jenny included, and the hilarity behind the overall storyline.

I went into 'Christmas Every Day' thinking that I was going to be faced with a typical romantic novel (not that there's anything wrong with that of course), but instead I ended up reading a book which not only has romance by the bucketloads, it also has a subplot which literally moved me to tears. I wasn't expecting to be blindsided by the details of bullying, health, regrets, secrets, and strength, however that is exactly what happened and wow, all of it completely blew me away.

I LOVED how unique the storyline was, and I adored how every little path came together to create a storyline that was full of multiple, beautiful journeys all incased under one umbrella; hope.

'Christmas Every Day' is as glittery as a Christmas tree after your three year old has decorated it.
As funny as your family member channelling their inner Santa Claus for the younger families (ridiculous Ho-Ho-Ho included).
As emotive as hearing yet another Cliff Richard Christmas song on the radio....
And as brilliant as watching young children get excited about their presents on Christmas morning.

Whether you'll find yourself on the 'Naughty' or 'Nice' list this Christmas, 'Christmas Every Day' has found itself on my 'top reads of 2019' list. I absolutely adored it.

I absolutely adore this book! his is a beautiful, feel-good, heart-warming and absolutely charming story, with a fabulous cast of character’s each with their own story to tell, I love the journey Jenny goes on it really captures your attention from page one. I love Ms Moran’s way with words, I’ve not read any of her work before – that will be rectified, the writing is strong and clear it flows so seamlessly.

The story open’s with a briefest look into what happened at the office Christmas party, where Jenny’s life was turned completely upside down, her life is in turmoil after the events of the party and her heart is broken and closed off to the world. Some may say her life was destroyed and in a way it was but the life she soon finds for herself in her little cottage is far better then the one she thought she wanted.

After the unforgettable events of the party, which turned everything topsy-turvy, Jenny has nothing, little money and no where to live, she moves into her late Grandmother’s cottage in the middle of Sherwood Forest which has been practically derelict for years. The cottage she soon finds is in a right old mess as her grandmother was a wee bit of a hoarder – junk shop would be the more accurate description, as she tries to clean the cottage she meets the mysterious, ruggedly attractive and very nice smelling Mack who lives next door – let us say that they don’t exactly get off on the right foot, a fair amount of growling and grumbling on both sides follows but he is a thoroughly decent chap and quite a handy one to have around.

She finds herself running out of money, she gets a job in the local café – unfortunately that is only paid in soup and sandwiches, that leads to not only a nannying job for one of the customers but finding herself in the middle of a book club with a bunch of squabbling women – honestly the five children she looks after are nothing compared to the book club members. But this is no ordinary book club they have decided to instead read a book but have decided to do undertake induvial challenges for Christmas.

Jenny is fabulous character, she has seen and been through a fair amount, the heart-break at the Christmas party was just a part of what she has been through in her life, everything from breakdowns, being cast aside by her family in favour of her much more pleasing sister and then finding herself homeless no wonder she is so guarded now and so determined to prove not just to others but to herself that she can survive on her own. I really like her, i like her determination, her resilience, jenny is one of those characters who think they are worthless and inept but in actually fact she is so much stronger then she gives herself credit for and I really love how through the story the real jenny comes out and we see her go from the insecure young woman with the weight of the world on her shoulders to the strong woman she becomes who is surrounded by people who genuinely care for her.

I really loved this book, I loved how it is pretty deceiving you come into this book thinking it’s going to be a sterotypical sweet little Christmas story, but oh how wrong you would be. It had me fooled too; Firstly, I wouldn’t class this as a Christmas book at all, the ‘Christmas everyday’ is more about the theme of the story and the plot. Secondly; as sweet and charming as this is there is a fantastic sub plot which really grabs your attention – in fact the whole book does – but there are some really unexpected moment’s where I sat there and went, “Well, I didn’t see that coming”

Overall a really gorgeous story.

A lovely light-hearted festive novel, embracing friendship, romance, secrets - and adding several touches of Christmas spirit!

Jenny is on her own in the world; with no job and no home - not to mention a lack of friends - she jumps at the chance of living in her grandmother's old cottage. What she didn't bargain on was the isolation and a grumpy neighbour . . .

An enjoyable book, this is my first venture into this author's work. It's not overly 'Christmassy', events take place throughout the year and the characters are well-developed and all easy to picture in my mind's eye. With a bit of mystery, potential for romance and burgeoning friendships it's a very engaging novel, and one I enjoyed. I didn't find any surprises, however, having worked out early on where it was heading and was already expecting the unexpected, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's a pleasant read and one I enjoyed.

My thanks to publisher Boldwood Books for my copy via NetGalley, and especially for including me in this Blog Tour. This is - of course - my honest, original and unbiased review.

At the office Christmas party, Jenny is a bag of nerves. Her boyfriend and one of the partners of the law firm she works at is looking like he’s about to propose to her. Unfortunately, things don’t go quite as expected and Jenny ends up leaving the party and the company for good and moving to her Grandmothers old cottage in Sherwood Forest that has been empty for many years since she died.

The cottage is semi-detached and the bloke, Mack, who lives alone next door doesn’t seem happy to see her. He looks grumpy, moody and put out and he’s enjoyed having the house next door stood empty as he values his privacy. After the revelations with her ex-boyfriend, Jenny is off men and them trying to help her out. Mack might be moody but he is also not about to let someone struggle to do things he can do easily, this only gets Jenny’s back up.

Jenny is also struggling for money, the place needs lots of work and she has no job or savings. To help her out the local bakery owner gives her a few hours work a week and pays her in food, she also unwittingly becomes the nanny for one of the local mums too.

As well as all of the above there is also the unusual book club where they agree to read a book but never talk about it. They meet once a month and each decides something they are going to do before Christmas, they discuss how well their task is going at every meeting. This collection of friendly, kind and full of hope members all have their own stories to tell, plus their hopes and dreams to share too.

This is the third book by Beth Moran I have read and if you are a fan or Rom-Coms I suggest you get reading her books. I simply adored this book and all the fabulous characters. Jenny was pig-headed, stubborn, yet supportive and kind too. She saw the best in people and so is at a loss when it looks like someone wants her out of the cottage. She is also clumsy as hell and Mack often had to rescue her from the floor.

The plot is beautiful and the setting comes across strong, imagine living in Sherwood Forest, out in the wild, being at one with nature. Although being isolated isn’t much fun when you think someone is following you.

The only thing I will say is don’t expect this to be a ‘Christmas book’ as it isn’t. I do understand why it has been called Christmas Every Day but it is more of a reference in the story that actual events in the book.

This is a humorous book that has some of the most delightful characters I have ever read about. It is warm, inviting and a whole lot of fun from beginning to end.
