This was one of those books that while enjoyable (mostly) just didn't blow me away. 🙈 The first 30% was good, but then I started to lose interest. 😫 The story felt unnecessary drug out. 🆘 That said, I loved Jenny, and I loved how the small town embraced her so thoroughly. 💕 Mack on the other hand fell flat. 👎 He came across very cardboard cutout to me, and the romance between him and Jenny was lackluster at best. 📦 So yea, a mixed bag for sure...

Excellent book, my first by Beth Moran i could not put it down, really likeable characters Jenny and Mack, however i would not say it was a Christmas book and how the title relates to the story.

What a delightful book by Beth Moran. After a tumultuous breakup and falling out with her sister, Jenny serendipitously ends up at her late grandma's neglected house near Sherwood Forest. You better believe there's a cute neighbour next door as well! The book follows Jenny finding her place in the small village and building a home - even if not every villager is happy about it... I enjoyed the dynamic between Jenny and Mack, as well as the different characters in her book club. I highly recommend picking up Christmas Every Day any time of the year (spoiler: it isn't necessarily a Christmas book)!

Well. It’s not at all Christmassy which is why I chose to read it in the first place. However the story is both engrossing and intriguing with a cast of well drawn characters. It absorbs you, surprises you and ultimately uplifts you. But my suggestion would be to alter the title

Christmas Every Day is the fourth novel by British author Beth Moran. Jenny Birkenshaw has spent her life in the shadow of her twin sister Zara. Zara has always gotten things to go her way, often at the expense of Jenny. The final straw is when Zara announces her engagement to Jenny’s secret boyfriend and boss, Richard. Jenny snaps, resulting in Zara’s broken nose, her firing from the firm where they both work, and homelessness when Zara kicks her out of her apartment. Little does Jenny realize that what seems to be a colossal failure and end to her life as she knows it, it is actually the door to a new beginning.

When her mother gives Jenny the cottage left to her by Jenny’s grandmother, Jenny has high hopes for a new beginning until she arrives on a rainy miserable night at the run down duplex and the key works but the door doesn’t open. Trying to just get in out of the rain, she tries to open the door of the adjoining cottage, even breaking the window to try to get inside. This is when she meets her grumpy neighbor Mack.

What Jenny discovers about the cottage is that her grandmother had been a super hoarder. With barely enough room to navigate through the house, Jenny finds the only decent room is the bathroom and finds herself with a makeshift bed in the tub. The process of cleaning, sorting, selling, and tossing takes Jenny months to do.

In the early days of her new life, Jenny meets local cafe owner Sarah and mother/student Ellen. These ladies help Jenny to understand friendship. They also invite Jenny to join their book club, bringing a cast of eccentric and lovable characters into Jenny’s life. But there is also some darkness that Jenny must face.

This is an intricately woven plot with so many interesting facets it would not do the story justice to give an overview. These are very rich and interesting characters allowing the reader to view their lives. The subplots feed the main plot smoothly, The reader will cheer Jenny on as she slays her dragons, real and imagined, and actually has the strength to become her own vision of New Jenny.

I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it!

I was completely charmed by the story of Jenny and Mack and their delightful cast of characters. This story was so heart wrenching and ultimately uplifting that I couldn't put it down. It is difficult to understand why some people act as they do, but the depth of Beth Moran's study into the circumstances that affect human nature was brilliant. I just loved it all and hope there is more with the characters from 'Christmas Every Day'.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions express in this review are entirely my own.

For a book that is called Christmas Every Day, it’s not very Christmassy. I found it quite hard to get into and struggled the first half of the book, the second half was a lot better

Seeing how stunning the cover is, I couldn’t wait to delve into this one. Whilst it’s a great read, it’s not as Christmasy as I would have liked. That being said, it’s still well written with great characters and a solid storyline.

What struck me first about this novel was the title. I’m a sucker for a Christmas novel and the gorgeous cover for this book seemed to be perfect for me. But I have to admit I was a little disappointed that Christmas didnt feature as heavily as the title dictates.

However it still was a captivating read. We met Jenny, a flawed character (very refreshing to see) moving into her grandmothers house. Completely dilapidated Jenny sets to work on the property to make it home. We soon learn that she has escaped from a relationship with her former boss, who just so happens to be now marrying Jenny’s twin sister, having carried on with them both in secret. Jenny always seems to be left behind and although there is romance in the novel I also think it is a book about the protagonist finding herself once more.

Next door to Jenny is a very interesting character indeed. Mack. A handsome recluse who has a few secrets of his own – as usual I wont spoil them, you will just have to read it for yourself. But the twists and turns that Moran creates with Jenny and Mack’s relationship is really magically.

Jenny fights with Fisher who is obsessed with trying to obtain both her and Mac’s property’s – we don’t discover why until the end of the novel but it leads to a fishy encounter for Jenny and a few threats. But to the rescue comes Mack. Very Knight in shining armour there is always the promise of tea and cake to bring the two of them together.

A book club also gives Jenny lifelong friends that she has always wished for and all have very thrilling tales. So much so it would be brilliant for Moran to return to Sherwood Forest and tell thier tales too. It is definitely shouting out for a series to be written.

The only negative that I will mention is the real lack of Christmas spirit. The novel takes place over the course of a approximately a year and even with a Christmas themed wedding it doesn’t feature that heavily.

It would have also been thrilling to see more of a description about Sherwood Forest and perhaps more time spent within the woods to get a real feel for the smells and sights within it.

Overall I did really enjoy the novel and I would recommend it as the storyline was brilliant. The twists and turns were very clever and made for an exciting ending. Moran kept me on tenterhooks about Fishers involvement in Jenny’s property and also about the Beast in the forest but I will leave that one to linger in your imaginations Booklovers.

Oh my goodness I loved this. Found myself unable to put the book down, stayed up late reading to the point of exhaustion and then resumed reading in the morning.

Jenny was a great character, flawed and real. No nonsense, no fiddle raddled, no fake sweetness or all too real idiocy as we find in some of these cozy Christmas themed reads. In fact all of the characters here struck me as real and not just cartoonish fictional people.

Would love to read more about the other folks in this book and perhaps have this turned into a series.

Really a great read to curl up with, you won’t be able to put it down.

This is a good book i personally stuggled with it. It was hopping alover the place but thats what real life does. When i saw the title i thought it was going to be a christmas book.
But sadly it wasnt.
But apart from that it was a good read not to slushy and im glad jenny got her man in the end as well as sarah and jamie. Just not for me sorry.

A lovely read, and you can read it any time of the year, because Christmas isn't heavily featured in it. That said, I like the take on having that Christmassy feeling any time of the year. Why not? All the characters were believable. Jenny was great, and I really felt for her. I enjoyed reading how she slowly fixed up the cottage and made a home in Sherwood Forest. The book club was a great addition, as was the mystery surrounding Jenny's family. Mack was lovely. There's nothing I would change - I'm just sorry I had to finish it. I wish I could have made it last longer.

This was a very enjoyable story set near Sherwood Forest, with a variety of really interesting characters, apart from slimy Freddie who was obviously up to no good! I wouldn't say it was particularly Christmassy though as only part was set around Christmas, so the title is a bit misleading and the book can be read at any time of the year.

Jenny has had a hard time recently, her snotty, thinks she's better than everyone, twin sister got engaged to her 'secret' boyfriend, and it was announced at a Christmas party when Jenny was expecting to be engaged herself. So she took herself off to a house in Sherwood Forest, that her grandmother had left her Mother (now a nun!) and she'd passed on to Jenny, to hide and lick her wounds, after losing her home (she lived with her sister), her job (she caused a slight incident at said party!), and her (cheating) boyfriend.

The house itself was one of two houses in the middle of nowhere in Sherwood Forest and the unknown grandmother had obviously been a hoarder as Jenny couldn't even get in the house to start with because of overgrown brambles, then could hardly get in the door because of the amount of 'stuff' she had in the house. Whilst trying to get into the house she meets her next door neighbour, reclusive, mysterious (and very handsome) Mack.

Jenny then meets some local people and gets drawn into their worlds, including a book club, which is really lovely for her as she has always been the one on the outside of everything, even her family. She also ends up being a nanny for 5 children(!) for a few hours a day after getting persuaded to by one of her new friends, Ellen (and the Mother of the children), as she is desperate for help, and ends up really quite enjoying it and really helps the children out, especially bullied Dawson.

The house is getting cleared, slowly, and life settles into a pattern for Jenny. But there is always the mystery of what exactly is Mack doing holed up in his house all the time, no-one knows what his actual job is, although Jenny for some reason thinks he's a spy of some sort! I did guess what he did during the course of the story, but it isn't revealed until later. And then of course there's the wedding invitation she received to the wedding of her snotty sister and cheating ex, which she accepted and said she was bringing a plus one... who ends up being Mack.

There are some great happenings in the book club, which ended up being less of a book club and more of a challenge club. There is also a sad but quite uplifting part of the story too, along with the worry of who is trying to force Jenny out of her house with a few scary tactics, and why. Lots of things to keep the story interesting and amusing. Of course everything does eventually come together for everyone, especially Jenny, and there is a happy ending. A really lovely book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading.

This is a delightful read. I loved it. It has a rich tapestry of plot with quite a few of storylines going - each depicting a topical issue. I loved the characters - not only Jenny and Mac, but also the wider circle of friends. It was heartwarming to see how Jenny learns her own worth and finds her backbone. (As well as true love and Christmas every day. :)

Such a fun and cute read! I was rooting for Jenny from page 1 and I seriously hope this turns into a Hallmark movie because I would love a little more Christmas in it and I would love to see the cottage where she lived. :)
