DCI Anna Tate is recovering from the shock return of her missing daughter, Chloe (who goes by the name Alice) and trying to build a relationship and help her grieve the loss of her stepmother and father. Anna is called back to work for the murder of a local celebrity’s 10 year old son. During the evening the worst riots London has ever seen unfold and Anna is in shock at the situation.

I loved the first two books in this series but this one I think has been mr favourite. Anna’s character has found her missing part which seems to make her better. Huge five stars without a doubt!

Cleverly plotted.
This is the third book in DCI Anna Tate series and J.P. Carter has proved it again. He wrote an entertaining thriller with a good concept. A little boy by the name of Jacob, age of ten years went to school one day but he didn't reach at home. DCI Anna Tate is called to investigate the case. What happened next? Well,to know it you have to read this brilliant thriller. Each chapter will give you an interesting thing to move forward but i personally felt that the ending was a bit dragging. But these kinds of thrillers are enjoyable when they're lengthy.
Thanks to NetGalley and Avon for giving me an advance copy of this awesome thriller.
There were a lot of characters in this book. I personally like Anna,Tom, her boyfriend and her daughter, Chloe. Each character was created meticulously.
A must read.

I almost DNF'd this book. The basic premise is solid. You have a detective struggling with personal issues, trying to find out what happened to a murdered child, set amidst a riot-torn city. It could have been very good.

Where did it all fall apart? Well it started with the adjective and adverb loaded prose. Show not tell is a writing advice that should be taken with a grain of salt, as both show and tell should be balanced to build up tension and emotions. Here, there was far too much tell. Too much exposition on how people feel and why. This leaked into the dialogue, which read stilted and surreal. These weren't people talking and conversing with a purpose, the dialogue existed to let the author talk. There wasn't really any distinctive voices and it was hard to keep up with who's saying what.

I was equally annoyed by the characters while also not caring anything about their journey. The story had an interesting end, I suppose, though I do wonder why someone lying about a surname took so long to discover. Surely policing involves checks and double checks.

The young Jacob didn't ever come again home from school. Later Anna Tate is called to a burning building where they found, a dead body that would belong to Jacob. The story is very good, with a very well and strong plot. The main character Anna is very smart and sympatic. It's very interesting to look into the case and it's interesting until the end.

J.P. Carter has written another amazing (DCI Anna Tate #3) book, Little Boy Lost. This is a highly original and thrilling read.

DCI Anna Tate is assigned to another difficult task, finding a missing child. London, where Anna lives and works, is in chaos after a police raid goes wrong and a woman is shot accidentally by an armed officer. People are rioting and the situation is seriously getting out of hand.

This is probably the best DCI Anna Tate book to date. I couldn't put it down and it played on my mind when I wasn't reading it. Highly recommended!

This is book three in the DCI Anna Tate series and by far the best one yet!!
We start with the discovery of a young boys body found in the cellar of a derelict pub, London is beset by riots and all hell is breaking loose someone set fire to the pub but did they realise the boy was there and why would someone want him dead. This is the start of a fabulous police procedural led by Anna and her team under ever growing pressure as the riots escalate making their job even more difficult.
As always JP Carter writing is spot on, the characters realistic and the continuing back story of Anna and her daughter adding so much to enjoyment of the read.
It’s a fast paced story that I was loathe to put down and I must admit I flew through it, full of suspense with a massive twist at the end it’s a brilliant read and I once more looking forward to reading the next in this terrific series. Well recommended as are the other books in the series, don’t miss out !!
My thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for giving me the chance to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Ten year old Jacob Rossi never comes home from school. A few days later DCI Anna Tate is called to the scene of a burning building where a body has been found, a body that would appear to belong to Jacob. Why would someone kill a little boy? Turns out that Jacob’s father had a lot of enemies, maybe someone angry enough to kill to get the ultimate revenge. But Anna’s search has just begun and she isn’t ruling anyone out yet. This is a strong police procedural with a smart, heroine
