My thanks to NetGalley and publisher Orion Publishing Group, for the ARC.
This is the start of a new detective series featuring DS Kate Munro and I do love a good series. However, I have to say that I don't think I'll be looking for the rest of this series because there actually is very little about DS Munro's investigative and interviewing techniques to admire; her character is just so "thin" and without substance and her back-story isn't terribly interesting to make you want to read about it.
Having said all that, the actual story-lines in the book are complex and intriguing. The main characters here are identical twin sisters, now 33yrs-old, Gabi and Thea Paterson, and the childhood friend, whom they both love, Harry Becker.

Fifteen years ago Harry's father shot dead Gabi and Thea's parents and confessed; he had been having a long-standing affair with Mrs Paterson but now her husband has found out and wanted the family to move away. For years Harry and the twins behaved as brother and sisters but the twins ceased contact following their parents' funeral.
Present day and Gabi has been attacked on the Common and left for dead. Thea is living in the old family home and still close to Harry; Gabi had spent years travelling the globe.
But, all three of them have secrets and when DS Monro's investigation stalls she starts researching the original double-killing from 15yrs ago.
OK, so we have really, really identical twins, so parts of the story were perhaps a little predictable, but there are lots of twists to the story that makes for a good read.
Nevertheless, DS Monro comes across as weak, letting suspects control interviews; there was no impression of her and her 2 DCs (of whom we know very little) working in a busy constabulary office and only fleetingly did her DCI appear. She is quite unorthodox in her methods and drinking heavily doesn't help matters (how she gets away with drinking so much each night and then driving to work I don't know).
So there we have it - Gabi, Thea and Harry are the real star characters within a well-written and well thought-out plot. Shame about DS Monro though.

A good read with a few twists. I thought though that it was very predictable.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

I have mixed feelings on Ask Me No Questions, it’s got a good plot and a some interesting characters but I felt let down by the predictable ending. If you thought it was going to end that way....it was.

A fun read but there’s better books on the market.

Thanks to Netgalley for this advanced ARC.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I struggled to really get into it, the characters in the story didn’t really jump out at me and catch my attention. Felt it to be a little unrealistic at one point. I persevered with it to the end and thought it was an ok read, and maybe not for me.

DS Kate Munro is investigating an assault on Gabriella Patterson. Her twin sister, Thea, says there is no love lost between them. Their parents were brutally killed 15 years earlier but some facts aren’t adding up!

After loving Louisa’s previous book, The Dream wife, I was excited to read this and it didn’t disappoint. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review:

A really compelling mystery. All the characters were interesting and each had their own secrets which were gradually revealed. A great unexpected twist at the end was the icing on the cake.
