Vegan and animal activist meets cowboy hunter. Can they get along in same ranch.
Emily Sullivan is back from Peace Corp to save her family's ranch with her sisters. She had lots of ideas to start her new adventure at the ranch but bank denied her loan and her father didn't give his approval. She was the youngest and she wanted to prove to her family that she can succeed in her business adventures. She wanted to protect her animals and preserve the nature until she meets Link.
Donovan Link wanted to stay hidden and never stayed one place for too long. When he decided to lease Three sister's ranch, he was only planning to stay for couple years and move on to next adventure until he meets feisty Emily who has been messing with his hunting parties.
They may not agree on animals but their attraction was off the chart. They must work together to save her ranch but it won't be easy. They will agree to disagree and give into their attraction but they will clash soon enough.
They will have to learn to compromise and willing to give up their ideals in order to make it work. It won't be easy for both and they will have to learn to trust each other.
I did enjoy both books. Other than her father being so mean, I did like all the characters.
Thanks to Netgalley and Tule publishing for my copy.

A super cute and entertaining read with interesting characters and a good dose of action too. This is the third book in a series but still a stand-alone story.

Emily Sullivan’s family owns a cattle ranch and she is a vegetarian. She had joined the peace corps and left home but she is called back because the ranch is close to bankruptcy and the family is rallying to save it.

Donovan Link has leased some of the land on the ranch for a hunter’s paradise. He is a responsible hunter but Emily hates the idea of killing animals period and she is determined to stop his business on their land but the more time she spends with Donovan, the more time she wants to spend with him. Can they work together to save the ranch or will they always be at odds?

I liked the story but didn’t like the constant f-bombs or very descriptive sex scenes. I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my review.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was a great book. I could really understand both sides of the argument between animal lover Emily Sullivan and animal hunter Donovan Link. Even though they are fundamentally different in regards to killing animals, these two fell in love. Unfortunately I really felt that Emily needed to grow up and realize that Donovan's hunting groups were keeping an invasive species (feral hogs) from completely overwhelming the family's ranch. She acted like a child at one point and was injured.

This book also included characters that we were introduced to in the first book of the series. It isn't necessary to read that one as the author did a great job of informing the reader as to the different characters' background. It was a wonderful book and I would recommend it as well. I also appreciated the book being written in a dual POV format. It really helped me to understand Emily a lot better.

This is a sexy read so I would highly recommend it for anyone over the age of 18.

THE COWBOY’S HUNT is the second title in the Three Sisters Ranch series, a part of the Last Stand, Texas connecting series from Tule Publishing. While I always believe you get the best experience by reading a series from the beginning, after saying that, you could still read this one on its own. I believe you’ll get a better understanding of the tensions on the ranch and reasons why certain things are happening if you’ve read THE COWBOY’S DAUGHTER first… but that’s simply my own opinion, you do what works for you.

There were times when I understood exactly where Emily was coming from – and there were other times when I simply wanted her to be an adult and stop acting like a brat. Her decision to be a vegetarian and to defend animals in any form is admirable – for her because it’s her choice. Not everyone feels the same and while she demands respect for her views she’s not above a bit of sabotage toward Donovan’s hunting operations. The tensions between these two are not only about lifestyles but a sizzling awareness of each other as well. Neither planned on falling in love, certainly not with someone so completely opposite in mindset from their own views, but the heart doesn’t care one little bit about that. Eventually, they’ll work out their differences for not only the good of the ranch in the long run but for themselves… it’s just going to be a rocky ride to get to that point.

There are other things happening in THE COWBOY’S HUNT aside from the tensions between Donovan and Emily that will keep you fully engaged in this story from beginning to end. A few twists, a bit of a surprise and getting to visit once again with book friends make this story one that I enjoyed. Now I’m curious about what happens next so keep an eye out for the next story in the Three Sisters Ranch series. If you love a complicated relationship, interesting characters, and a couple that has to work for their happy ending then you’ll want to pick this one up real soon.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

The Cowboy’s Hunt by Jamie K. Schmidt
Activist Emily Sullivan left her fulfilling job in the Peace Corps to save her family’s ranch from bankruptcy. Her dream is to use renewable energy because conservation and education are her passion. Unfortunately, her parents believe there’s a greater profit allowing hunting tours to cull the local wild species. Emily vows to change their mind.
Donovan Link doesn’t stay in one place or with one job too long. This cowboy turned hunter is determined that the hunting lodge he built on the Three Sisters ranch will give him a nice nest egg so he could retire to Alaska, where the game is plentiful and his incarcerated father can never find him.
When these two opposites clash, sparks fly. Donovan sees Emily as a sabotaging eco-warrior and she sees him as a soulless trophy hunter. But they need to work together to keep the Three Sisters ranch in the black and fighting with each other — and falling in love — complicates an already impossible situation.
This Emily Sullivan and Donovan Link's story.
Emily Sullivan was glad to be back in the States. She wasn’t sure how she felt about being back at the Three Sisters Ranch, though. Tired, she decided. She felt tired. And hungry. Worst of all, she could smell the bacon her mother was making in the kitchen. Her stomach roiled and she forced herself to breathe through her mouth.
But the reek of it was worth it to see her sisters and parents leap up from the table and surround her.
“Why didn’t you let us pick you up from the airport?” her oldest sister, Kelly, asked. She looked as beautiful as ever, like the rodeo queen she had been.
“Wait until you meet Trent and Donovan,” her mother said. “They’re such nice men.”
“So I’ve heard,” Emily said with a trace of sarcasm. Both nice men were renting land from her father and it was helping keep the creditors at bay, but it wasn’t a long-term solution.
The other renter, however, she had major problems with—even though she’d never met him. Donovan Link had paid for hunting rights on their land and was currently paying a monthly lease on the property until he decided if he wanted to build a hunting lodge. That was going to happen over her dead body. She had to convince Donovan that it wasn’t worth his time to be here. Her family would figure out how to make up the lost revenue another way.
The Cowboy’s Hunt by Jamie K. Schmidt is a 4 star book.

Emily and her sisters are trying to save the family ranch. Her father has rented land to Donovan Link to build and run a hunting lodge. She is against hunting and tries to convince him not to go the hunting route. They lock horns every time they talk. They finally reach an understanding that he is only hunting to keep the population is check no endangered species. He has a three year plan to make some money and move on. Despite their opposing views, their attraction can't be denied. When Emily makes the first move all bets are off. Fun read!

Talk about opposites attract. Emily is a vegan and Peace Corp activist. Donovan is a hunter. When Emily comes home to help save her ranch. She wants to take over the duties and run the ranch, but she is seen as the baby with big ideas. She really hates what Donovan does including having hunting parties on the land he rents from her father. Even with all that she is truly attracted to him. As she gets to know him and his secrets, she is even more in awe of him. She just can't get past what he does. I thought the chemistry between this couple was real and the struggle to understand each others life was true to life. There are few times in the story where her life was truly in danger and he came to the rescue and I just swooned.

I finished this book however in the series this has to be one of least favorites so far. Unfortunately something about the main characters did nothing for me.

A really enjoyable and cute romance, entertaining with great characters, a very addictive read

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion

I liked that I was immediately drawn back into this series as if I had never left. This romantic story focused on the youngest Sullivan sister, Emily. Emily is a strong character with a big heart and is tired of being treated as the baby in the family who makes mistakes. I really liked her character.

Then there is the fun character of Donovan Link, whom Emily dislikes because he built a hunting lodge on her parent's ranch and she is against hunting and eating animals. It was fun to see how she would interfere with his business. The sparks fly between these two characters and could have started a fire or a burst of energy for Emily's wind turbines.

I also enjoyed that the story was full of action, some mystery, some bad guys, and a beautiful white elk named Ghost. I was riveted to the book and could not put it down until I had read all of it. I am so glad there is another book in the series. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

The Cowboy's Hunt is the second in the Three Sisters Ranch Series by Jamie K. Schmidt gives the reader another of the sister’s stories. Working together to save the family ranch had brought all three sisters home. It is a dysfunctional family on a good day but at least the sisters have each other. Emily is the most world traveled of the three. Now she has definite opinions and causes that she believes in and works towards to make the world a better place.

This is a hot romance between two characters, Emily and Donovan, who strongly conflict in many areas of life. These characters were introduced in the first book which gives all the family background. Thanks to Emily’s father Donovan has hunting rights on the ranch. This goes against everything Emily stands for, so the sparks fly.

I really liked this couple more than the one in the first. Donovan may be the opposite of Emily but there story does not involve past encounters. While the romance is steamy and the chemistry is explosive, the Sullivan family drama is still a big part of the story. I had read the first book so it would be difficult to say of this one is a stand-alone. Certainly the author trues to bring the reader up to date but it may or may not be enough for some.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

An absolutely lovely story. Opposites attract in this fun and witty romance. Emily is a vegetarian and conservationist. She is stubborn and focused on getting things done her way. Donovan is a hunter filled with testosterone. The author tells a great story of their battle of wills to change each other opinions. They are both funny and fun and find that they are attracted to each other. You will enjoy the steamy scenes as well as all the mischief Emily seems to always find herself in. The rest of the family is just as interesting.

"The Cowboy's Hunt" (Three Sisters Ranch Book 2) by Jamie K. Schmidt is a great read. I loved Emily and Donovan's story. This was the first time I've read this author's work and I'm looking forward to reading more. This story has entertaining characters, romance, humor, family, and more. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series. Highly recommend to all fans of cowboys, romance, and series.

Loved this story as it gave me a different perspective on ranch life... good, bad, and the gross. Figured ranchers would have a tough time making ends meet but never thought that wild animals could cause such havoc. The relationship of Emily and Donovan was unique as it went through many stages - much more than is typical. Loved their push-pull and the way they worked out problems on the ranch.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I found this Western romance a bit bland. Emily is daughter of a rancher and a strict vegetarian. She is determined to help her father save the ranch and force Donovan to stop hunting on the land. Unfortunately I wasn't really taken with the story and the protagonists did not inspire much emotion.

I received this Tule book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book by Ms. Schmidt in this Last Stand Texas based series. This series is about the Sullivan Family who own the Three Sisters Ranch. We learned in book one that the father summoned all 3 daughters home to Last Stand with the news that they would need to try and save the ranch or put it up for sale.

This book features the youngest daughter Emily who comes home from working in the Peace Corps in Africa. She is a vegetarian and doesn’t believe in eating meat or hunting. One of the tenants we learned about in book 1 was Donovan Link, who rented land for a hunting lodge where he takes hunters out on trips. Initially the two clash over hunting and the family land. We learn that Donovan has been running for years to escape his early life. His parents had been grifters. His mother was accidentally shot and killed during a job and the dad went to prison for 30 years after Donovan turned him in.
This was a terrific book! Ms Schmidt provided lots of steamy romance, a great story with lots of facets and another book in the very exciting Last Stand Texas series of books. I enjoyed seeing Kelly , Trent and their daughter in this continuing saga of the Sullivans. It was also very interesting to include the identification of Trents dad and the fact it was his manager. I sure didn’t see that one coming.

As time goes on Emily and Link realize they have lots of chemistry and start pursuing it. Unfortunately there are some issues with the hunters and her family and his dad and there’s lots of angst and yet some steamy romance. There are a lot of suspenseful moments and the book is so compelling. I loved it . It’s a 5+ star book. I can’t wait for book 3.

I love this series- Three Sisters Ranch! After reading the Cowboy's Daughter, I was hooked on Jamie Schmidt's new series. I was so excited for this advanced reader copy of Emily and Donovan's story!

Emily, being the baby of the family, feels she has a lot to prove to get her dad's attention an approval to run the struggling ranch. What's the hardest part she faces- well, to me it was the fact that she was vegetarian and strictly against harm to animals living on a slaughter farm with a hunting lease on their property by the sexy Donovan Link.

Donovan is hiding out- well not really- but he doesn't want his dad to find him. He is enamored with the sassy Emily Sullivan, but these two are more different that alike. Can they bridge the gap to carry on a relationship?

This was a very interesting read with some funny scenes. Ghost was a great addition and I can't wait to see where Schmidt takes this "character" in Janice's story. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next in the series!

Enjoyable read however Emily is such a childish and obnoxious character she drove me crazy through most of the book. I had a hard time through most it believing Donovan could even tolerate her. It’s so hard to cheer for a relationship when you can’t stand one of the characters.

The book is still a good read and I feel the need to go back and read the previous book as well as any future books as most of the characters are extremely lovable and the little glimpses of the previous story through this one got me wanting more.

Despite my extreme dislike for Emily I think it’s worth the read and other readers may not be as annoyed by her as I am. I applaud the writer for coming up with such deep characters that I can even develop such an extreme dislike.
