An overall enjoyable story. I definitely enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. I didn't expect I would enjoy it as much as I did. I'm glad I gave this story a read.

Akua, a Peace Core Volunteer works in Ghana for the Advocacy, whose mission is to help the surrounding villages of a gold mining company WAG) to secure fresh water for drinking and sanitation.. As a child, the author lived in Libya where her father worked and so was able to provide intimate knowledge of the culture and difficulties that had to be faced. I found the intellect of the author refreshing, but recommend you pay attention to people’s names and who they work for. (Check the info at the back if necessary.). I look forward to reading more of this author’s work.

Overall, I enjoyed the subject matter and writing style of the author. Melissa has an excellent gift for capturing the mood and energy in every scene. She was also able to literally and figuratively navigate cultural, political and gender issues in a way that brought the reader into the story as well. My one concern was that the pace of the plot was a little slow, but that may have been because I have a lot of projects I'm currently working on. But definitely worth the read.

Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.
