EXCERPT: When the minicab driver first spotted the girl, he thought she was drunk. Yet another bloody student, he thought, getting pissed on cheap cider and staggering home at all hours. She was a good hundred yards ahead of him, but he could see she was lurching unsteadily from side to side. It wasn't until the car got closer that he realized she was actually limping. One strappy shoe was still on but the other had lost its heel. That's what made him slow down. That and where she was. Out on the Marston Ferry Road, miles from anywhere. Or as close to it as Oxford ever gets. Though as he signalled and pulled over alongside her, he still thought she must just be drunk.

But that was before he saw her face.

ABOUT THIS BOOK: A teenage girl is found wandering the outskirts of Oxford, dazed and distressed. The story she tells is terrifying. Grabbed off the street, a plastic bag pulled over her face, then driven to an isolated location where she was subjected to what sounds like an assault. Yet she refuses to press charges.

DI Fawley investigates, but there's little he can do without the girl's co-operation. Is she hiding something, and if so, what? And why does Fawley keep getting the feeling he's seen a case like this before?

And then another girl disappears, and Adam no longer has a choice: he has to face up to his past. Because unless he does, this victim may not be coming back . . .

MY THOUGHTS: I didn't enjoy All the Rage by Cara Hunter as much as I did the previous book in the series, No Way Out. Although full of twists and turns, it lacks the breathtaking tension of No Way Out which, admittedly, is a hard act to follow.

Having said that it was still a good solid read. I like Adam Fawley's character. Things don't just fall into his lap. He has to work for his results, and work hard. His life is complicated by by he and his wife still trying to come to terms with their son's suicide, a pregnancy, and an old case rearing it's ugly head. Added to this is an attack on a teenager, and the murder of another with a supporting cast of bitchy hormonal teenage girls.

This is a complex story told over a single timeline which culminates in a cliffhanger ending that has me eagerly awaiting the next in the series.

😊😊😊.5

This is a great read - as you would expect from this talented author, Cara Hunter. You don’t need to have read her previous books but you’re in for a treat if you haven’t, however this book could be read as a stand alone. Great plot with lots of twists and turns that are entirely realistic, brilliant writing and very enjoyable few hours! A very well deserved five stars

What a book.....wow! This book was such an ease to read and it had me hooked from the very beginning. A girl is abducted and tied up but luckily escapes and is able to tell her story but then another girl goes missing. The characters are so well written, the plot is a brilliant story but all the wee twists and turns just makes it that bit more different. The ending kept going, just when you think it was solved something else popped up. You need to read this. Now I need to go back and read cara hunters first 3 books lol thank you to netgalley for the advance copy

What a pleasure it was to see another Cara Hunter DI Adam Fawley book appear - and the feeling of anticipated pleasure was more than realised in its reading. Cara Hunter’s skill in character development and the ability to tell a story in such a way that pace and tension build steadily is again evident. The team of detectives is pleasingly multi-dimensional, and it will be hard to please readers who doesn’t relate readily to one or more of the detectives whom we have come to know as the series has expanded. There is some clever structuring of two possibly related violent crimes, that lead to unwelcome questions over an earlier case in DI Fawley’s career and a generous sprinkling of quite compelling false leads to tempt the amateur sleuth. Ms Hunter again makes use of unusual literary devices - screenshots, transcripts and the background noise from social media - to good effect. They provide useful scaffolding that establishes the credibility and authenticity of the developing narrative. If you’ve read an earlier DI Fawley novel you’ll enjoy this one: if you haven’t you’ve a treat to look forward to.
Highly recommended

Ms Cara Hunter can surely write a book that will keep you on the edge till the last page.
This one was no exception as it is a gripping and entertaining read, with a cast of well thought characters and a great story.
The mystery is solid and it kept me guessing.
It was an excellent read, highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

The novel starts with a teenage girl who has been snatched off the street with a bag over her head and her hands cable tied but she won’t press charges and we don’t know why. But then another girl goes missing and the case gets a lot more serious. Even though it is the 4th book in a series, it can be read as a standalone, which is how I read it. It was easy to catch onto but it might have been better if I was more connected and knew more about the characters from the previous books.
The story is fractured and goes back and forth between characters so it was quite difficult to remember and separate what was going on in each narrative. You have to concentrate to keep up with the constant changes of perspective so I had to read it in big chunks at a time or I’d forget about important information.
Most of the characters are likable. DI Adam Fawley, the main character, is a good detective and treats his colleagues with respect but sometimes doesn’t know how to handle news. This case puts pressure on his relationship with his pregnant wife for reasons that are eventually made clear and makes him re-evaluate a case exactly like this one that happened 20 years previous. He helped convict the ‘Roadside Rapist’ 20 years ago but Gavin Parry has always insisted he was innocent. The similarities of this case make everyone question was the wrong man framed for these crimes?
There are a lot of twists and turns and for once I think there were too many things going on, too many red herrings and dead ends and I started to wish I could just get to the end sooner rather than later. I have mixed feelings about the ending as I have never read anything with the result like this and it bothered me who the culprits were and it just felt unrealistic to me. The author made out that the suspects were some kind of criminal masterminds, the way the murder was revealed and I found it hard to believe that the person responsible would have thought of every little thing.
Overall it is a good crime thriller novel with a good plot that keeps you reading to find out who did it but it had too many twists and dead ends to reveal the culprits and the fractured narrative can be a bit confusing.

This was brilliant and another one I could not put down, it is written so well that you actually think the detectives do not have any idea who did it. As for me, I did not have a clue and it kept like that right up to the end. The pace was good and the detail, one of the best crime books I have read for a while. Love this author and her style as everything you read your not sure how it fits and then unexpected bits pop into the story as well. I have read previous books in this series and they are all very good.

A young girl is abducted but escapes only for another girl to be taken but she isn't so lucky. Can the police figure out who is behind it. The case is very similar to a previous one could it be the work of a copycat or was the wrong man convicted.

This was an interesting story but didn't draw me in as much as I had hoped. It takes a little following in the beginning because it jumps around so much from different characters. I did really like the use of other media to tell parts of the story like court transcripts, texts, voicemails etc. It added a more modern feel to the story which worked well. The plot itself was interesting and the killers identity was cleverly done. The ending was good with that hint at a further story to come. A solid crime thriller.

Another brilliant book written by the the talented Cara Hunter! Following the team as they uncover the mystery of why a young girl was bundled into a van and threatened violence. As the team begin to investigate they discover that things are not as they first seemed . In the meantime another young girl has gone missing . A fast paced story with twists that will keep you second guessing all the way through as well as more of an insight into the life's of the team of officers involved in the investigation. Great book!

This is my 3rd book by the author (one of her books is in my TBR). Like its predecessors, this book too holds and keep you enticed until the very end.

One of the best features of Hunter’s writing is her use of graphics for intricate details. She aids the reader to visualize the scene with no efforts. The book has maps, trial transcripts, interview scenes and even the text messages (like the rest of the books). It improves readability and keeps the reader engrossed. Not for a moment you feel stuttered.

The recurring characters have grown with time. The title of the book is very fitting and the central theme of the books surrounds the anger and jealousy. It too shows how rage fuels our disillusioned ego and forcing them to cross that line. Well- researched characters with strong motives and purpose. There is also subtext on the use of social media.

Even though it’s a part of a series, we can read it as a standalone book. But I highly recommend reading the rest of the books. It’s an absolute treasure for the crime fiction genre.

All the rage by Cara Hunter is a clever and thrilling police procedural. From the prologue, the author pulls you into a whirlwind of twists and turns. Only by the end of the book, you realize the clever techniques of Hunter.

Faith was snatched as she walked along the road. A plastic bag was put over her head & her hands secured with cable ties. The sound of a siren scares off her attacker before anything worse happened & she stumbles onto a road where a kindly taxi driver takes her home. Although seriously shaken she refuses to press charges, being unwilling to expose herself as being trans. When Sasha disappears it makes the police suspect that this might be connected. Adam Fawley & his team have to cut through a lot of false leads & uncooperative people to find out exactly what happened.

As this is the fourth book in the series, it is good to see how different members of the team develop. It could be read as a stand alone, but like most series, more is to gained by being there from the start. I really enjoyed the story, but like the others in the series use is made of maps/transcripts/certificates etc. If you are reading a print book that is fine but it is extremely irritating when reading on a Kindle as the only way to read some things is with a magnifying glass- kind of spoils the flow!

Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book- looking forward to the next one!

All The Rage is a great psychological thriller with lots of twist and turns! This is the second book I've read in the series and it certainly won't be the last!

All the Rage sees DI Adam Fawley and his investigative team once again embroiled in a complicated and complex mystery which seems to have a foothold in the past, and yet, the situation in the present is very much central and pivotal to the story as a whole.

A teenager is found in a distressed state but when questioned Faith Appleford refuses to press charges despite the attack being extremely brutal. Faith has her own personal reasons for this lack of cooperation which further complicates an already difficult case. When another girl goes missing, DI Fawley realises that old secrets may well emerge in the race to bring the perpetrator to justice.

The story is suspenseful, dark and complicated and is everything, and more, from what we have come to expect from this series and this talented author. I've read the previous three books and thoroughly enjoy the way the author brings each of the characters to life, especially DI Fawley, who like all lead detectives, is something of a flawed character with a tragic past. However, Fawley is also a very realistic and believable character with an inbuilt integrity which shines through despite the appalling cases he, and his team, get to investigate.

All the Rage, as is usual with this series, had me trying to second all the way through, and just when I thought that I had the plot sussed, it would veer off in another unexpected direction so that I really didn’t see where it was heading, and that’s what makes this series so appealing. All the Rage has all the elements needed for a suspenseful crime read - complex, gripping, and totally unputdownable.

I have not read any of this series before and probably would not have done so without buying the other books as I always prefer to read a series in order but I have been away on holiday so read it as could not get the internet to download the others. I enjoyed the story and the dynamics between the Police Officers especially when one Police Officer needs support and another chooses to be difficult. Not having read these book before I had to get to grips with the characters and found I warmed to them especially Gislingham who always knew who needed support and when. I was not sure in the beginning why Fawley’s wife’s pregnancy had to be a secret but that became clear and the story weaved that into the plot really well. I did not guess until very late in the book why he was so protective of their situation but that obviously becomes clear. I enjoyed this book but as I mentioned earlier I would have liked to read them in order and will probably do that one day as this particular book would be very easy to read again

Having read the first three books in the Adam Fawley series, I started this book confident it would be good - and I was not disappointed. It was not always an easy read because of the content but the subject of part of it was sympathetically and positively handled. Adam Fawley and his team are a believable set of characters who work well together. The twists in the plot are cleverly intertwined and it is a compulsive read from start to finish.
Four and a half stars for me1

I don't really feel this book was for me.
Don't get me wrong, it was written well and I think so many others will rate it higher than I have but I'm just not the biggest fan of a police procedural.
That said, it was a good storyline with plenty of twists that had you guessing what had actually happened right up until the end.

I love this series! This fourth book is a gripping thriller and, with the other three under my belt, it's like welcoming old friends.

When a young girl is abducted from the streets in Oxford, DI Adam Fawley's team are each affected; this is like no other crime they have come across. Luckily, the victim survives to tell the tale, but what if there's a next time? With the feeling they are racing against the clock and little to go on, can these officers come up with the evidence?

A cracking read, and an outcome I could never have predicted! Right into the crime from page one, I devoured the details all the way through. I found myself paying close attention to every single person interviewed, sure that there would be a clue I could pick up on - but if there was, I still missed it! Cara Hunter writes compelling thrillers - intricately plotted and written in an easy-to-read manner - drawing the reader into the lives of each and every character! And with all the questions raised answered in full, there is just a hint of what may be to come in book five .. I can't wait! A fabulous five star read, thoroughly enjoyed and totally recommended!

My thanks to publisher Penguin for my copy via NetGalley; this is, as always, my honest, original and unbiased review.

This is my review of All The Rage by Cara Hunter, the fourth book in the DI Adam Fawley series which is set in Oxford.

When a teenage girl, Faith Appleford, is located on the outskirts of Oxford,by a taxi driver, she is dazed and distressed. It appears she has been attacked. Once she starts talking about what had happened to her, it turns into a terrifying tale. It turns out she was grabbed off the street, had a plastic bag pulled over her face, then she was then driven to an isolated location and then subjected to an assault. She doesn’t want to press charges but they get the impression she might know her attacker.

Faith, wouldn’t have reported the attack if it wasn’t for the taxi driver who she asked to take her straight home. When he first saw her, she was at the side of the road, miles from anywhere. She appeared drunk and as he got closer he could see she was limping with one of her shoes missing a heel. Once he saw her face, he wondered what had happened and knew he had to pick her up to take to safety.

DI Adam Fawley and DC Erica Somer get the case which seems a strange one but the alarm bells started ringing with Adam. He’s sure that there has been a similar case before. Without the girls co-operation there is little they can do. What if there is another attack and the next girl is not so lucky? Why did she not want the doctor nor the police involved? They only know of the attack because the taxi driver had reported finding her and taking her home. At least that way they had an address.

Although they do not have much to go on. DI Fawley asks his team to start investigating by checking speed cameras from around the area where she was found, to see if they could see roughly where she came from. To question the taxi driver again. Ask the petrol station for their CCTV. To check her online activity as well. Check at the college.

When they are checking her online activity, they find she has a vlog, facebook account etc but they only started a year ago, nothing before that. Why was that? There was some pictures that Faith had that Erica spotted whilst she was with Baxter at the computer. She asked him to enlarge them. They were just old family snaps. But Faith wasn’t in them!

This was a fantastic book to read and had me hooked all the way through. Really loved it. Another great book to add to this series. Cara Hunter certainly knows how to write a suspenseful book!
