A really good read. Set around a group of school mum's who are involved in each other's lives but when one of their children has an accident it results in many secrets coming out, and the truth not being revealed. Lots of twists and a good mix of characters and a real page Turner. I loved it

This was a review copy of The Fallout.

The book centres heavily on the motherhood and its pressures - something which I could relate to myself having met my fair share of perfect mothers who make you doubt your own actions.

When Sarah is looking after Liza's little boy she takes her eyes off him for a second and he is in an accident where he is badly injured. She is faced with a decision - to tell Liza the truth and risk ruining their friendship forever, or to lie.

The story line of The Fallout is a bit far fetched at times, and I have to be honest I didn't find myself liking any of the characters which made this quite a difficult read. There were a few twists throughout, but none of them really shocked me. Whilst the bitchiness./ clique nature of the Perfect Mum Brigade was something I could relate to; I found this a slow burn overall.

Was unable to get through this book, I couldn't gel with the characters or the plot.
It all seemed a bit too unbelievable for me, it didn't feel 'real', given that it isn't a fantasy genre it shouldn't feel that way.

Just felt it was a bit too dramatic at times and left me feeling detached from the main character. An ok read but not one of my favourites.

This wasn't booked I really enjoyed but I think it was just me and not the actual book.

I think the charaters were good tho.

Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review. An interesting novel by a new author in my personal reading-sphere! I am sure others would enjoy it too. Good character portrayls, descriptive setting and gripping plot.

A domestic-ish thriller, I usually like to listen to this kind of books as audiobooks rather than read them, but I did like this tale from Rebecca Thornton.
I found it quite compelling and the characters were at times infuriating but facing dilemmas that you think - what would I do in that situation?! Psychologically interesting stuff!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Struggled with this to start with but really in depth story and enjoyed it in the end. Liza and Sarah are very much like the friendship group I have and the PTA messages goes to show that that sort of thing happens the world over. Something I need to realise myself at times!

I found the book to be enjoyable, however it didn’t do anything particularly new. It was clear not all was as it seems but when truths were revealed, they didn’t shock me. It felt a little stretched and I didn’t fully see Sarah’s point of view.

The added article and WhatsApp’s were a nice touch too, they broke things up.

This book for me was a struggle to get through. I found it quite confusing and at times didn’t know what was going on,

The Fallout is a story about the pressures of motherhood, the judgement that surrounds our parenting and the danger of secrets.

Liza and Sarah have both been through a lot. They are best friends. But when Liza's son Jack has an accident at soft play, their friendship is tested as never before. Add to the mix, yummy Mummy Ella Bradby and tensions are running high. Everyone has an opinion about what happened, and they're not afraid to share it in bitchy Whatsapp groups.

Reminiscent of Liane Moriarty's writing, we soon discover that everyone hides a secret in this deliciously dark tale. Will the truth ever come out? Will Liza and Sarah be able to salvage their friendship? And does Ella have her own agenda?

This is such a compelling story with lots of twists and turns along the way. Although it's not always a comfortable read, its definitely worth the effort and will stay with you long after you've finished it.

I'm not going to lie I couldn't finish this book I tried and tried to read it but I just didn't see the point. It just seemed like it was about a bunch of children involved in. Playground behaviour. Now whether this is because I am going through ivf and find the trivial things annoy me I don't know but I will try again one day maybe but I'm not in a rush

An enjoyable read and quite tense. Explored friendship and parenting and I read it quite quickly as I wanted to find how things played out. The ending was good and didn’t disappoint.

A very easy read which gripped me from the start. I particularly enjoyed the bitchy whatsapp group which struck me as very true to life!

A really solid, enjoyable read, although slow in places.

This book is an easy read and focuses on two close friends, Sarah and Liza.

There’s an incident with Liza’s young son and he is badly injured. Sarah completely blames herself but behaves really bizarrely about the whole situation. She has good friends and a kind husband but doesn’t confide in any of them and spirals out of control, jumping to conclusions and making everything worse.

A mum they used to know, Ella, bumps into them on the day of the accident. Sarah seems to be obsessed with Ella liking her and behaves like a crazed teenager. Ella is a bit of a cliche ‘Miss Perfect’ character and is suddenly so involved with their lives.

I didn’t like any of the characters in the story and found the bitchiness and gossip between the mums very annoying, no matter how accurate.

There are a lot of references to WhatsApp, made.com etc. and I wonder if that will date the book quite quickly. The characters referring to texting or messaging one another as ‘pinging’ really irritated me and just made the characters seem even more childish.

The plot attempts to keep you guessing with this ‘mysterious incident’ that happened between Eliza and her husband but as I didn’t care about the characters I wasn’t too fussed about it. When it was ultimately revealed it was quite predictable.

Overall, I didn’t really enjoy this book and it wasn’t for me.

Thanks to Harper Collins and NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy of this book for review.

This book wasn’t a favourite of mine. I failed to warm to any of the characters.

The writing is a mixture of prose, WhatsApp messages and newspaper articles. I did like the style of the book. The book covered some sensitive topics including losing a child. It also highlighted the pitfalls of social media.
