Sarah and Liza are friends. They meet Ella who they haven't seen for years at a new health club. Sarah is left to check on Liza's son, and she becomes distracted. An accident leads to secrets. Would not necessarily be my kind of book but really enjoyed it, How you can assume things that might not always be the truth. Would recommend

I think we will all feel for the characters in this book. A child is injured whilst his mum has asked her friend to keep an eye out on him. So who is to blame? Read on! Set in a fancy pants area of London it creates an atmosphere that made me uncomfortable. Brilliant writing. 4/5.

The Fallout was different from what I was expecting, but it was still worth a read. It started off interesting and gripping, and I was excited to know what happened. The suspense was great at the beginning, however; the story dragged, and I felt it would have been better being shorter.

I didn’t particularly like any of the characters. Although they felt believable, I struggled to connect with them. However, I presume that’s because their world is so far from mine, rather than it being a problem with the characters.

Overall, this book had great potential but parts weren’t to my liking. It gripped me near the beginning but as the story went on; I become bored and my concentration waned. However, still, a great read for anyone who likes books filled with drama and secrets and I’d still like to check out other books by this author.

Sorry for late review - just catching up after a busy few months. Loved this book a lot - my first book by this author but was impressed - a great story with great characters and really well written. Will definitely read more by this author and thank you for the read. Much appreciated.

First I would like to thank Rebecca Thornton, Harper Collins UK and Net Galley for allowing me to review The Fallout. I devoured this book in two sittings as the plot was fast paced and didn't slow down. I wanted to find out what secrets the group of West London mum's hiding behind the 'perfect mum' attitudes and appearances.
I totally recommend this moving, insightful and at times an emotional read.

Secrets always find there way out.

This is a fantastic book! No matter how deep seated the secret is it will find its way out one way or another and can cause devastation. One mistake can ruin your life and nothing will every be he same again. Can you handle the fallout?
I like the way this is written, its entertaining and deeply emotional. I felt the characters emotions leaking off the pages which I don’t find that often. I couldn’t put this down one thing after another while the story flows together perfectly.
Thank you to Netgalley/ Rebecca Thronton/ HarperCollins for the ARC in exchange for the honest review.

I really tried to get into this book (a couple of times) but found the characters a bit ‘meh’ and it became quite repetitive and tedious. I guess if you’re looking for a quick and easy read you could fly through it in a day. I prefer something a bit more challenging and meaty.

Thank you for the ARC.

The fall out was a gripping story. When sarah was meant to check on her friends son & a terrible accident happens, will sarah confess? This had me sucked in from the beginning. The characters were written well and no confusion with them. The events that happens throughout the book always leaves you guessing at what's coming next. A few things happened that dont reveal themselves until later on in the book which was a bit frustrating but all in this was a good read

Unfortunately this book has taken a few attempts as I struggled to connect with the story. It all seemed a little clichéd. Although I did finish it I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend it to my particular group.

This book is really about judgement of others and how dangerous assumptions and gossip are. There is an accident at a local health club when jack falls and injures his neck. What follows next is lies, cover up, gossip, endless whatsapp threads, insecurity, school gate mums, christmas committees etc

Ultimately it really shows us that despite how perfect somebody's life seems, we never know what's going on for anyone

Definitely showed the need for more understanding, compassions and kindness!

"Everybody's damaged. It's just a question of how badly and whether you're healing or still bleeding"

Sarah and Liza met at NCT classes 5 years ago. They have been best of friends since then and always supported each other. Ella was also at the NCT classes but distanced herself after the birth of her baby. Now she is back. Sarah and Liza are at the new local club having a coffee while Liza's so Jack plays outside in the playground. When Sarah goes to get another coffee Liza asks her to check on Jack. Sarah is distracted by Ella. Jack has a serious accident and their friendship starts to break down.

I went into this book a little blind as I hadn’t read many reviews but it sounded compelling. I thought it was a great insight into the pressures that mums feel when part of a group and the secrets and lies that ripple underneath the surface. It’s a brutal world where everyone is judged!
This was a slow burner and I was eager to find out what was going to happen. I didn’t find any of the characters particularly likeable but I think that was intentional by the author. I really loved the WhatsApp format as the basis for the story and it felt really modern and relevant to our times. It definitely show how one lie can spiral out of control!
I have to say though that it did lack something for me and didn’t quite hit the spot the way I wanted it to. I’m not sure if it was the characters or the plot itself but I didn’t love it like I wanted too. I found some elements quote repetitive and tedious. It just lacked that excitement I was after.

This book had an interesting premise, but unfortunately did not live up to the hype. I found it so hard to get into, and found the characters really one dimensional.

Unfortunately for me, this book did not live up to the blurb. I found it very hard to like any of the characters, or have any real sympathy for the situations they found themselves in - maybe this would be different if I was a mum myself. My inner gossip enjoyed the WhatsApp messages and interview transcriptions that are dotted through out. I found they added a touch of humour to an otherwise fairly slow moving book.

Enjoyable read, Friendships are pushed to their limits when a child falls whilst in the care of his mothers friend.
Rather than tell the truth and get into trouble for being distracted by an old friend, the lie continues to grow and blame is thrown in other directions as a distraction.

I really didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought I would. The premise was good, but the book lacked something and it just didn’t feel like a smooth read.

I liked the description of this book, but in reality, it didn't really match up, although I did enjoy it.

I did recognise some of the things happening, with WhatsApp groups and cliques of different mums at the school gates. But there were many things that were beyond my experiences and I struggled to believe everything could really happen.

As always there is more to the back stories of the main characters and some surprises that show you shouldn't judge people by initial impressions.

Thank you to Net Galley for a review copy.

This story has a claustrophobic, immersive quality that draws you into the world of parenting in West London. Once there, it's not a pleasant place to be, with its backstabbing, vicious gossip and judgy attitudes. It's against this privileged setting that a psychological suspense drama unfolds, featuring Sarah and Liza, who are best friends, and what happens between them and their families after a tragic accident.

Liza and Sarah have dark secrets. Sarah and Liza are unreliable protagonists. Other points of view are revealed via social media group conversations, making the novel contemporary and vibrant. There is a sinister undercurrent in this story. Is it a product of a disturbed psyche or reality?

Character-driven and reflecting twenty-first-century issues, this is an addictive story created out of ordinary and often poignant events and secrets. It's essential reading for lovers of domestic, psychological suspense and family drama.

I received a copy of this book from Harper Collins UK -Harper Fiction via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This is one I requested after seeing the cover all over twitter and Instagram. I have not been disappointed, this is a book which perfectly tells the tale of school mums and busy WhatsApp groups.
I have really enjoyed reading this, although i wasn’t particularly fond of the characters in this one; I found the plot enjoyable.
I also loved the writers style, this was an easy read book which kept my attention. A first for me by this author but already can’t wait to read more.
