I've read a few books by Karen Rose some good some not so this one is good they all have a strong woman as a central character and they meet a man and they end up with worrying problems this is a good one jts not to heavy but it works somehow she creates a series around a family or work which helps with the world building as you become invested in the characters as they pop up in the series a great holiday read or just to read whilst relaxing I was given this book by net gallery and the publishers in return for an honest opinion and review

Another incredible new series by Karen Rose and as usual this great author does not disappoint. Faith Corcoran is a psychologist and has returned to Cincinnati to take possession of her grandmother’s home, despite the frightening memories it evokes. FBI Special Agent Deacon Novak has also returned to Cincinnati to help his aunt with his wayward brother Greg. Novak is working a case of 2 missing college students and in the process meets and falls for Faith. Despite all the precautions Faith has taken to extricate herself, her stalker is following her and it now seems he’s abducted the two girls. As the story unfolds what seems a simple abduction becomes far more frightening as it seems that a serial killer has taken up residence in Faith’s home and is not best pleased with the interruptions.
This was a thrilling read that had me gripped, feeling like I was on a roller coaster of emotions. This psychological thriller was incredible and this looks to be yet another winning series by Karen Rose

This is the first book in a series
The pacing of this book was odd. Parts of it were so drawn out which was disappointing.
The main characters were excellent and the romance was sweet

Loved this, loved this, loved this.

It is a Karen Rose, so of course I am going to absolutely ADORE this!

I read this one originally when it was first released and since then I have re-read it several times, as with all her books.

This one is Faith and Deacon's story:

A serial killer is trying to kill Faith, Deacon is sent by the FBI to help her, they fall in love and beat the baddie. So simple and yet so intricately plotted and well written that it feels like a brand new story each time I read it. Karen Rose writes the bad guys like no one else I know. They are always so evil and despicable that you are left wondering how she managed to come up with these people!! The good guys are all saints, as usual, that is the only unrealistic bit I find with the KR universe - every single one of the good guys, is a proper good guy. They volunteer, or they have altruistic jobs, they take in unwanted pets, or abandoned kids etc etc. I mean, yes that's the ideal, but not too realistic to not find one bad apple in the massive group of friends this universe revolves around! :)

I say this, but I don't care. I love the book and the series and this one is no exception to that adoration. Give me any Karen Rose novel and I will devour it within days, I will recommend to ALL my friends and I will buy multiple copies!

This is just the start of Faith and Deacon, and as a set up for their story this one comes at you with a bang. Really interesting, exciting, detailed and gruesome.

A million stars, and one I would recommend to everyone.

This is book #1 in the Cincinnati series. I have read many of this author's books, and they are all equally as good as each other! I LOVED this one. If I could I would have given it more stars! 5+++++ kept me hooked from page one and whilst I needed to get to the end to find out who did it, I didn't want to as then it would be nearly over! Can't wait for the next one!

I enjoyed reading this book although I did find it a bit too long but even though it took me a while to get into it I liked the fact that the person " who dunnit", got what they deserved, will definitely be reading the series

This seemed really familiar to me and looking back at my kindle I realised I had read it before. This didn’t take away the fact I loved it then and loved it now!
Karen Rose doesn’t disappoint and I think she mixes romance with murder really well.
The only thing I will say is that compared to the edge of your seat authors around today, her books may seem a bit dated.
Still a big fan though!

Closer than you Think by Karen Rose.
Deacon Novak has returned home. The experienced FBI Agent knows that his move to Cincinnati's Major Crime Enforcement Squad will be challenging, but the greater challenge will be saving his younger brother before he becomes the kind of criminal Deacon is chasing.
Faith Corcoran has escaped her identity. Being a therapist to victims of sex crimes was rewarding, but her work with their offenders has jeopardized her life. Her move represents a chance to build a new life in the empty old house her grandmother has left her.
What Faith doesn't know is that a killer has made the house his playground, taking girls into the basement and murdering them. And now Faith is about disturb his fun.
With a murderer focused on her, Faith is going to have to put her trust in Deacon if she's going to survive. Because this killer is always closer than she thinks....
A fantastic read with some great characters. Loved Faith. She was my favourite character. Couldn't put it down. Read in one sitting. 5*.

This is an excellent introduction into what has to be one of my favourite series ever written! I can't begin to count how many times I've recommended this book, and it's certainly been well received.

Requested this book not realising I’d read this a few years ago. Looking back at my Goodreads review I loved it.

Great storyline & look forward to hearing more about Faith’s adventures.

🌟🌟
I was a little disappointed with this book. I felt it was more a romance than a police procedural/thriller, and wasn't as gripped as I would have liked. I picked it as it was shown as being the first in the series, however one of the lead characters was from a previous series, which for me meant I felt I was on catch up for his character. It was quite a long book and I feel it could have been shorter (by around 200 pages).
Having said that I really liked the way the relationship between Faith and Deacon developed. I felt that there was enough in the storyline to keep me reading and I definitely was kept guessing.
