Based on publication date this should be the last to read on my growing list but I could not wait and jumped into it upon receiving. What an amazing read! I was not sure Robert Bryndza could find a character to compete with Erika but he has created another wonderful one with Kate. I loved the relationship between Kate and Tristan. This is a dark story of a serial killer thankfully captured due to Kate in her previous life as a police officer. Then 16 years later her life is thrown into array bringing back the darkest of memories. A gripping, nail biting, fist clenching read with fantastic characters. I am envious of anyone who is still to read it and can't wait for Book 2 of Kate Marshall.

Amazing, fantastic, brilliant, all the things I knew it would be. Loved the Erika Foster series and this new one is going to follow in the footsteps. I will be recommending this to everyone I know. Can't wait for the next one.

I never repeat the blurb.
Just loved this - and so another awesome series from this writer dawns. Great plot, credible characters who act in a (rare) believable and authentic manner with everything set up for future instalments which look likely to have traces of this plot history interspersed. Yay! Keep writing...and fast!

This book is absolutely brilliant. I didn't want to put it down and just wanted to read it all in one go it's that good. It contains everything a crime thriller should. If I could I'd have given this book more than five stars.

The first instalment of the Kate Marshall series.
Detective Kate Marshall is investigating a serial killer loose in south London/Kent boarders. He has killed three times already when Kate gets a call to a new crime scene at Crystal Palace Park.
When Kate realized who the killer is, is it too late before he comes after her?
After being attacked by the killer Kate retires from the police force.
Sixteen years later and Kate has never gotten over her capturing the Nine Elms Cannibal, she tries very hard to live a quite and peaceful life, but when a couple ask for her help to track down their daughter who disappeared twenty years ago Kate feels that she has to help them.
Bodies start appearing in exactly the same way as sixteen years ago and Kate is pulled back into the think of the action.

I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this book. I love Robert Bryndza’s series featuring Erika Foster, so it was with some trepidation that I started this new book. I had no need to worry it was absolutely brilliant, Kate Marshall is a fabulous character and the story line was breathtaking. The way that the victims were killed did leave me feeling a bit queasy and I had to pick the right times to read it but I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

WOOHOO! Another Bryndza book I couldn’t refuse. Only this time a new detective and a new series published by Thomas & Mercer.

Peter Conway is never far from Kate’s mind. During the aftermath of the most heinous crimes imaginable, she fumbles with a new life while at the same time regretting the day she stopped being Detective Constable Kate Marshall. Nine Elms Lane has changed since the 1990s with new developments going up and things aren’t the same any more. With a career in law enforcement lost to reputation and now living in Thurlow Bay on the south coast of England, she is a lecturer in Criminology at Ashdean University. Starting with the course “Criminal Icons,” Kate describes her relationship with Met Police Detective Peter Conway and the victims whose lives he took. There must be nothing worse than thinking about a murderer who has haunted her entire career. But when she receives an email from Malcolm Murray about their daughter Caitlyn who went missing in 1990 and may have been dating a police officer, all hell breaks loose.

As Nine Elms unfolds with a cutthroat ferocity, Conway receives a letter in prison and it’s this that made me shiver. I suspected the sender was someone in awe of the crime and it’s perpetrator, but I didn’t expect the crimes to be so horrendous. It reminded me of Alcatraz where prisoner Frank Morris led a minimalist existence inside, it surprised me how he was able to conjure up such a well-hatched, meticulous escape plan. With Bryndza’s descriptive prose, it’s easy to visualize Conway’s conditions, his routine and his jailers.

You’ll get a kick out of the Kate’s research assistant, Tristin, a young man with which every reader will resonate. Snowy white socks and an enquiring mind, reminiscent of a young Inspector Lewis. But when DCI Varia Campbell and DI John Mercy reveal a past misdemeanour, I liked Tristin a little more. Bryndza is skilled at drilling down to the smallest of foibles, which in turn brings an extra dimension to his characters.

I was convinced that Kate’s relationship with Peter Conway and his desire to see Jake would somehow play out in prison. That he would find a way to lure them there. But the backdrop of CM Logistics and an eerily staged scene from the past was a twist I never saw coming.

This is an ultra-satisfying, seat-of-your-pants police procedural and although I read it in three days — interrupted only by work — it was easy to pick up where I’d left off. The details of the case and the characters stayed in my mind and so did the surrounding story. The book is miraculously tied together in a violent and remarkably satisfying denouement.

Nine Elms is a sharp example of its genre. The pages turn, the violence is brutal, and for all police procedural and crime aficionados, fasten your safety belts because this is one hell of a twisty ride.

Many thanks to the Author, Netgalley and the Publisher for allowing me to read an advanced reader copy for an honest review.

This has to be one of the best first books in a series I have ever read. The main characters both good and bad were great, and they were believable and the good guys were very likable. The pace and story was great, and I really loved reading it.I can't wait for the next book and I think this is a definite winner. Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for an ARC.

Anyone who knows me, knows what a huge fan I am of this authors books. I absolutely love his Detective Erika Foster series so I could hardly contain my excitement when I heard he had a brand new crime series coming out!

Now I won’t lie, when I picked up this book I was filled with not only excitement but with a bit of trepidation also. Where as with the other series I knew mainly what to expect knowing the main characters but with this one, it’s all very new with new characters and new setting but I needn’t have worried as after reading the first chapter, I was well and truly hooked.

Boy, oh boy, oh boy. Where do I start with this amazing piece of crime fiction! There is just so much to LOVE about it! Honestly, don’t take my word for it, read it for yourself. Kate is one hell of a protagonist. A former detective trying to get on with her life although she constantly lives under the shadow of her past.

The manner that the victims are killed in this book were pretty shocking to say the least. A couple of times I could feel myself turning a bit queasy at what I was reading. Even thinking about it now sends shivers down my spine. On top of that there are a few characters who literally made my skin crawl. These are some seriously messed up people and whilst they made me feel sick by some of their actions, oh my goodness they really just take the story to another level.

In Nine Elms, Robert Bryndza has delivered a masterpiece in crime fiction. It is dark, gripping, nail biting and oh so wonderfully twisted. Definitely not one for the feint hearted but for me it showed me a new side to this authors talents and I blooming well loved it. For me this is way up there with Silence of the Lambs. Couldn’t have hoped for a better start to a brand new series and going by this one, well I think us readers need to hold on tight as we are in for one hell of a ride.
