This was a mixed bag for me, having loved her previous book, I was really looking forward to this. Started great with a lot of promise, but I found it lacking in depth at times and I struggled with some of the characters- like they were just there to fatten it out a bit. Slightly disappointed, but it wouldn’t put me off her next one.

I was expecting a hard hitting and twisty thriller like all of Pinborough's other reads unfortunately I felt this one fell a little flat and was too drawn out. I felt we learn far too much about irrelevant characters and not as much about the main characters.

I started this book with such high expectations , following the authors previous work

I expected a gripping thriller.

The first past of the book somewhat grabbed me and towards the middle. I found myself to be getting quite bored

The thriller and twist that I had been expecting came in at approximately 90% of the way through

Although the twist was huge and good, the journey to get to the twists was quite a lengthy one!!

I am conflicted with this one. Sarah’s previous novels, Especially Behind Her Eyes, were incredible. Whilst this Was a good read on the whole, it lacks the star quality of her other novels.

A book about how the rich live, lie, deceive and thrive. The premise of the book is how old money treats ‘outsiders’. And this book feels a little more on trend as one of those outsiders is a young black girl entering a rich white ‘old’ community.
I was not expecting the story that we got. Yes there’s mystery, murder and imminent scandal but there’s also so much more. Kesha has married up. We quickly learn she didn’t have the best childhood and Billy has made himself her white knight, only she cant leave all of her past behind.
Marcie is concerned that her husband, known for his wandering hands is interested in Kesha. Shes stunning, who wouldn’t be interested in her after all. These two ladies are the main characters and the supporting characters do a really good job of looking guilty and innocent. When you mix in some Southern ways, Voodoo and feeling like you could lose everything in a heartbeat this book becomes really compelling. It wasn’t what I expected in all of the right ways – and the ending really wasn’t what I expected!

After the superb Behind her Eyes, I eagerly awaited Sarah Pinborough's novel. Whilst it was definitely different to the multitude of thrillers-like the previous contribution- the characters and subject matter ,an array of money grabbing social climbers who' desires for power was only outweighed by their sexual desire , it didn't deliver.
The Voodoo element didn't appeal to me,along with the repeated graphic sexual descriptions.
Bitching, unlikable protagonists, did nothing to enhance the book.
A disappointment read.

The perfect book for insomniacs-not because it will help you sleep but because it will give you a reason to stay awake ! It left me gasping for breath in parts. What initially appears an aga saga holding a mirror to the almost incestuous relationships of the upper class Savannah set, evolves into the most thrilling psychological nailbiter, involving voodoo, murder, gaslighting, and embezzling topped up with a soupçon of sexual intrigue. This book has it all, a virtual smorgasbord of literary delights. More please!

Yet another can't put down novel from the very talented Sarah Pinborough. Hot and steamy like the Savannah weather. Intrigue, sex and some horrible characters all go to make a delicious read.

Marcie seems to have it all: wealth, youth, beauty, and a successful husband. The only thing that casts a shadow on her is her status. It is not a totally notorious one but her life before becoming Mrs Maddox in the splendour of Savanna's rich list is somewhat shrouded in secrecy, an allegedly unsuccessful business, and yes, being Mrs Maddox II.

Being the shiniest gem in this vintage setting changes abruptly when Marcie's husband's friend introduces Keisha, his new wife from Europe. Her arrival ruffles feathers on some of them and makes others preen theirs.

Keisha's and Marcie's paths will overlap and lead them on a journey to self-discovery, self-destruction, and seemingly impossible choices.

When one person from their circle is found dead, loyalties shift but the survival of their status seems to still top the list of their priorities. Secrets will be uncovered, choices will have to be made, but most of all who will trust who in the place where everyone tries to outdo others. Was it revenge, was it voodoo, was it a jealous ex, or was it simply a power play of greed?

Will Marcie still be the shiny gem after the dust settles on the mad Maddox fury road to her unblemished high society status?

Sarah Pinborough wrote another engrossing story of love, betrayal, mystery, and murder. Dead to Her is a great psychological thriller filled with twists, turns, and red herrings. It will keep you guessing, and you might even guess right, but in the usual Pinborough way, the end will surprise you.

There are vibes of Fingersmith and Rebecca, with Katy Perry's I Kissed a Girl playing in the background, in the Deep South setting. What I love about books by Sarah Pinborough is that they are all so different but she always manages to create suspense, set page turning speed of light, and give you the ending that you'd not guess.

Jason's boss returns from a trip to London with a new, much younger and exotically beautiful wife. Keisha steps into the shadow of William's first wife, Eleanor and tries to learn the ropes of being a rich, society wife. Jason's wife, Marcie, a second wife as well as a result of their affair, also feels like an outsider to the blue blooded aristocracy of Savannah. The two second wives, both from poor backgrounds, bond quickly as neither is fully accepted by the elite gentrified society in Savannah. Marcie suspects Jason of having an affair and Keisha wishes Billy dead. With murder, voodoo and talk of ghosts, this sounds like a great story and my kind of read.

Unfortunately no, not for me anyway. Long-winded, repetitive, definitely not thrilling or mysterious, completely unnecessary sex scenes and to be honest, I found it more than a little boring. I forced myself to continue as Behind Her Eyes was one of my favourite reads that kept me thinking about it for weeks after, but the twists here came and went and did nothing for me. With flat and very unlikable characters, I didn't make a connection with any of them and had nobody to root for. Not for me unfortunately, but thank you for the opportunity to read it and give an honest review.

I am a big Sarah Pinborough fan. Dead to Her was a very more-ish read set in the heat and intrigue of Savannah, Georgia. It makes for a great raunchy holiday read with second wives behaving badly and secrets taken to the grave.

Unfortunately I really struggled with this book. I started it and stopped reading it and then eventually went back to it. I can’t quite put my finger on why I didn’t enjoy it but sadly it just wasn’t for me. I read the previous 2 books by this author and loved one and didn’t enjoy the other and I really wanted to like this one. I found this book quite confusing and disliked most of the character . At times it seemed to be quite far fetched.

I have to admit that this book was not at all what I had expected - rather than crime fiction the first two thirds of the book had more than its fair share of graphic sex and the characters were unlikeable - money and position was more important than love and fidelity. Add to that the element of Voodoo and although it was readable the plot was slow to develop. Suddenly at 80% the pace increased and I did want to know who had done what and there was a twist or two in the tale.
Many thanks to Netgalley/Sarah Pinborough/Harper Collins UK for a digital copy of this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

Wow, what a read! I've struggled to find a good thriller for a while now but Dead to Her proved to be one hell of a rollercoaster. I kind of thought I knew what I was in for (rich people, fraught marriages, affairs etc) but then I'd forgotten the author is great at throwing twists you simply don't expect - it took a couple of directions I was simply not expecting. I liked the alternating chapters between Marcie and Keisha, enjoying discovering their similarities and their differences. Both were very intriguing as well as untrustworthy narrators which I always enjoy and this built up a sense of unease throughout the story. Admittedly, there are not really any likeable characters in this book and while this won't bother some people, I'm aware it will others. There are also elements of the supernatural in this story - something that seems to be the author's modus operandi - which adds an intriguing angle to the plot. The story definitely starts off slow but it soon picks up in the second half, building to an exciting climax.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for this copy of 'Dead to Her' received after the publication date. Firstly, I loved the premise of this and fitting right in to my genre of choice, I was excited to start. From the first couple of chapters I was somewhat overwhelmed by the large cast of characters and wondered if I'd ever get my head round who's who. Once my concentration ensued and I read deep into the night, I got to know each of the character; their foibles and personas and liked how Pinborough developed them throughout the book.

I liked the setting of Savannah, Georgia and felt the atmospheric heat build along with the plot. The four main characters of Marcie & Jason and Keisha & Billy we're developed well and I enjoyed how they embodied they theme of money - the concept of keeping up appearances and demonstrating personal worth through their money (or lack of). There were secrets, lies and deceptions and even though I feel that these are key ingredients of the genre I love, I felt that this just missed the mark and failed to hook me as much as I'd wished. All the same, it's worth a read as a worthy contender in the genre.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction for the arc of Dead to Her by Sarah Pinborough,

Thank you Sarah Pinborough for writing this book, I have read your other book "Behind Her Eyes" and loved that book so i got really excited when i got approved to read your latest book and i wasn't disappointed at all wow just wow!

This follows two females whom are called Keisha and Marcie and both of their perspectives. Both of these women are the second wives of their husbands. You get to indulge and see the backgrounds of these two women how they both came from poor backgrounds from nothing to now married to their husbands. But Keisha manages to get the attention of Jason who is Marcie's husband... and Marcie she will go to the extreme lengths to get what she wants when she wants to. But the question is how far will she actually go?

Like with Behind her eyes i was sucked in by the first page and no exceptions this one really did the same, there is so much on edge suspense which really had me hooked and on the edge of my seat.

I recommend this to anyone who likes a good thriller or have read behind her eyes.

I always look forward to reading Sarah's books and this didn't disappoint. It was a slow burner that really took off a third of the way in. Filled with secrets, lies, mystery and some black magic, I was hooked until the very end. In classic Pinborough style, there's a twist, but I'll say no more.

I was over the moon to be given the newest Sarah Pinborough novel as I have really enjoyed her other novels.
The description had me hooked and I couldn’t wait to get started, however, I sadly found the book hard to get into and I just could not get into the characters and honestly struggled to finish it.
I wasn’t engrossed and at times I felt it was a steamy romance rather than a thriller which really disappointed me. Sadly this was a no go for me.
