I really enjoyed this book of poetry! It really spoke to me, and I imagine it would to most. The book was separated into sections by theme. All of them were meaningful and heartfelt. For me there wasn’t ambiguity, but clear succinct verse. I’m very curious about the identity of Faraway, Well done!

This poetry collection is really moving. It made me tear up, which doesn't happen with me and poetry. The emotions are just so sincere in it. They come through clearly on the page without being saccharine or cheesy. This has the appeal of Amanda Lovelace but is a bit more introspective and thoughtful (and I love Lovelace). It talks about love and how even if things don't work out with a certain person, you can still treasure those memories while looking forward to when you DO meet the person who's right for you. Geez, it made me emotional, and I'm grateful I had the chance to read it. If you read one poetry book this year, make it this one.

Prior to starting this book, I wasn't familiar with Faraway or his poetry, but I'm glad I came across it on Netgalley. It's definitely one of the better collections of poetry I've read. It wasn't anything new or special but, for what it was, it was a solid collection and it does make me want to read more of his work.

I am so thankful that I was able to read this poetry collection. When I decided to start reading this I was in a weird mood kind of down in life. But, this collection made me feel like other people feel this way too and that I wasn’t alone. I’m a domestic violence survivor and this book was definitely encouraging! Keep up the amazing work.

This collection of poems had a few gems woven within, but the overall rhythm of the collection felt jumbled for me. I don’t know if it was a formatting issue in the kindle edition or the order the poems were placed in, but I just couldn’t connect with the collection as a whole. Overall I wasn’t thoroughly impressed or disappointed. A so-so collection in my opinion.

1.5/5

Gosh, I really wished I had liked this poetry collection better. I have a soft spot for narrative poetry and Instagram-sized pieces but I believe the key to successful poetry which doesn’t rhyme is mastering internal rhythm, which is something Faraway doesn’t really excel at. Although some verses have imaginative wordplay and beautiful imagery, for the most part this collection struck me as shallow. It didn’t contribute anything new to the topics of mental health and heartbreak, and the metaphors were unoriginal as well.

A compilation of poems encompassing self care, loss, and heartbreak, Sad Birds Still Sing is a perfect "pocket sized" collection for your every mood. Written by the anonymous poet, Faraway, the collection is none the less intimate in its exploration of the human condition.

A special thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really do have a thing for short, « Instagram sized”, spilled thoughts and this is just great. Pertinent thoughts on loss and love, going on and self love. Great great read!

I’d never heard of this poet - even with their large following on Instagram. I only wish I had discovered them sooner as their work is absolutely stunning.

Sad Birds Still Sing is written by anoyomous poet Faraway (@farawaypoetry). It covers topics ranging from mental illness to heartbreak to dreams and more.

Underneath it all - this book inspires hope and healing and facing things head on. I’m interested to check out other works by this author as they have some serious talent with words.

"Sad Birds Still Sing" by the anonymous Instagram poet Faraway (@farawaypoetry), was an inspiring collection of poetry that speaks to me going through a recent breakup. There was so much hope and promise.

Many, many lines were filled with life to try again, to never give up, to sing amidst the sadness you might find yourself in. While he speaks at lengths of feelings and love and pain, he also combats those emotions with reality. He speaks to the reality that we still have a sense of control over our future to make decisions and choices even when life gets hard. It is a mix of both the heart, the head, and the will that make up each person's life.

I loved this collection. I think it will be one I will return to again and again in the different seasons of life.

I received this as an eBook from Central Avenue Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of the title. I did not receive any compensation from either company. The opinions expressed herein are completely my own.

This is a new collection of poems by the anonymous poet, Faraway, that touches upon everything from life to loss to heartbreak to fighting your own inner demons. Although, there are some heavy themes in this collection, the main thing holding it all together is an underlying message of hope. I really enjoyed these poems, and quickly flew through this in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. I found this relatable, inspiring, and so beautiful. I'll definitely be checking out more from him.

Beautiful verses fill these pages. The work is broken down into sections but feels like an immersive whole. Recommended for verse lovers.
