This was an interesting read. We follow Jeannie and her lessons in love. I found that the characters didn’t engaged me that much and took me long time to finish this book. I give 3 stars 🌟

What a gem, love getting back into Lucy's books and finding myself part of the gang. I just wanted to be there and join them for walks with the dogs. Funny, heartwarming and light - exactly what you would expect from Lucy.

This is the first book of Lucy’s I have read, and I did enjoy it very much.

Jeannie always wanted to be loved, a true love that every girl deserves. Dan is a vet and meets Jeannie on a dating site, and she is the perfect girl for him.

On their wedding day things take a turn for the worst, Jeannie is having second thoughts and Dan is involved in a serious accident and ends up in a coma.

What follows is a story of a woman who is determined not to leave Dan during his recovery, a man who has hidden many things about his past, and a best man who is trying to protect Jeannie, by helping his best friend out! There comes a time though, when you have to tell the truth and be honest with each other, and during that time Hearts will be broken, just maybe not the ones you think!

Lovely easy book with a different theme to the usual chicklit, good characters... especially the dogs... and one that draws you in from the first pages. Another lovely book from this writer who is one of my favourites

A sweet romcom about a woman who changes her mind on her wedding day only to find out that her fiance is in a coma after an accident.

It's an unusual concept and explores nuanced emotions about relationships and obligations. A highly thought provoking book, it's a good afternoon read.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC without obligation.

Another absolute cracker from Lucy. I was hooked from start to finish. Just so sad when I came to the end of the book as I wanted it to go on and on. A lovely read.

'Unexpected Lessons in Love' is a romantic comedy book that will keep you reading as you live the storyline alongside the characters. It is heartbreaking, romantic, hopeful, and comforting.

Unexpected Lessons in Love is a sensitively told story about Jeannie who gets cold feet on the day of her wedding, but then discovers her partner Dan has been in an accident and is now in a coma.

My heart went out to Jeannie as she grappled with the aftermath of Dan's accident, feeling that she couldn't share her 'secret' that she had been about to leave. The story brings up a lot of interesting dilemmas around relationships, love, obligation etc and made me think a lot about what I would do if I found myself in a situation like Jeannie's.

This was not my personal favourite of the books I've read by Dillon, but it's still well told and I expect it to be hugely popular with other readers.

A good read, a very original story, with engaging characters. Makes you think about what you need to know about yourself and your partner to be happy in a relationship. Recommended.

I loved this book. It was easy to read and had a few twists along the way. I love Lucy Dillon's work and this, like many others, is a great read!

As the title suggests, this was a very unexpected story for me. I really liked that the plot was so unique and that it kept me wondering all the time how the characters were going to react to certain twists and curveballs that the story threw at them.

Although at the beginning I was not sure I liked the main character. Jeannie, she ended up being a great surprise. I felt like she grew a lot during the story and we really got to know and understand her. After a few chapters, I was already rooting for her and wishing the best possible happy ending for her. I have to say though that this story is not about happy endings at all but about finding out your place in the world and what you really need and want and not what others expect of you.

I think the story unfold at the right pace and all the pieces slotted really well together by the end of it. I especially enjoyed reading about Jeannie's relationship with her dad. He really was a great support for her and never judged her or her decisions. Also a special mention to the canine characters, which played quite the role in this book and gave it even more heart.

Unexpected Lessons in Love is a very unique and special love story that you will surprise you, with realistic characters that make mistakes but are ready to learn and be better. A real lesson in life!

I tried so hard to get into this book but I just couldn't. There seemed to be too many moments of indecisiveness and people who won't tell a story. Not for me unfortunately

Enjoyable chick lit. Easy to guess the outcome but thoughrally entertaining nevertheless. Lucy Dillion's writing never disappoints and always raises a smile.

I have only just read this book and it was delightful. It had me reaching for a hankie on a number of occasions but it is really an uplifting book. I did at times expect it to become a real mystery story but it drew back from that so many times. I really cared for the characters and the consequences of their actions, some changed from friend to villain in a few pages, in a way that spoke volumes about the human condition. It is a book that should appeal to any dog lover and even those like me who have never had a close pet. There were a few dogs who became characters in their own right and this did not feel artificial in any way. The lessons in love were short cameos of so many experiences and it was a different way of learning about love. It was an ideal read for a first weekend of the school summer holidays when I just wanted to leave school and left over home chores behind. Thank you.

Jeannie wants to fall in love so when her boyfriend whisks her away to New York & proposes to her she says yes. Wedding plans are made but Jeannie feels a little unsure if she is ready to marry Dan. On the wedding day she shares her doubts with her father then everything starts to go wrong in a most dramatic way but will she still marry Dan? I anxiously read on and enjoyed this book.
