You Are A Star by Rachel BB was a good, solid read with a beautiful message for children. The illustrations were engaging and pleasing.

I received a review copy from the publisher, via NetGalley, for my honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

The idea and concept of this book were brilliant and unique - a book about loving the colour of your skin. But, the rhyming didn't mix very well and I didnt like the font either. The book didn't really gel together unfortunately.

Unfortunately this book did not hit the mark for me. The concept of being special and being a star for children with brown skin, is an important one, but the book did not really get the message across. The graphics were not great, the font was hard to read at times and the actual content was not really what I would expect for a children's book. Like I said, the message is important, but this book did not deliver it in a way that would get me to buy or even read this book again.

I loved the concept of this book. Empowering and positive, to teach children of color that they are amazing.

However, I didn’t care for the font or the illustrations. And the rhyming was often strained and forced which took me out of the story.

Excellent concept. Just didn’t hit the mark.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Lovely storybook in poetic prose on the beauty of brown skin. Love the illustrations and the verses it really captured the benefits and beauty of having darker skin.

I am sorry to say that I really didn't like this book
The idea was there but the presentation of the story and images were poor
I went to stop half way though and then continued in case it improved but for me it didn't
It is very rare I would give a book 1 star but this one did nothing at all for me

I’m sorry to say that this book had the best of intentions, but it doesn’t manage to pull it off.

The message is important and needs to be said over and over, but the illustrations and odd choice of font make this hard to read. It looks amateurishly done.

Perhaps with better, less crude illustrations, and better format, this book could yet meet its intended audience and be well areceived.

But presentation is important and well as intent.

Thanks to Netgalley or making this book available for an honest review.
