I really enjoyed The Accidental Love Letter by Olivia Beirne. We can all relate to a letter received that’s not for us, do we open it and read it or not? Well for Bea she does and decides to reply to the writer. A great laugh out loud read that also covered a whole range of emotions. I can’t wait for Olivia’s next book.

This is my first book but the author but it certainly won’t be my last. I enjoyed the story and liked that it had many likeable characters. I thought I was going to get a cliche chick lit story but found that although love is mentioned in the title this isn’t your usual romantic novel. Instead you find a story of a girl suffering with anxiety trying to make the most of her life. She receives a letter that isn’t meant for her and it changes her life … for the better. Instead of just existing she starts to live again. I would recommend this book.

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for the opportunity to read this book

Love the cover and one line headline of this book which instantly drew my attention. A lot of books are boring and similar looking and this is pretty and attractive so it grabbed my attention.

The one liner on the cover gets your mind racing. would you ?

This book is funny, warm, very very easy to read. I oved Bea for all her little imperfections and her true to life character. I really think the author did an amazing job with the character and you just want to hug her and help her and you feel so involved in this little story.. Quite a deep book that stays with you and leaves you thinking but told in a very realistic, true, warm way which makes it so endearing.

‘The Accidental Love Letter’ is the latest book by Olivia Beirne.

Bea used to feel confident, outgoing and fun, but she’s not sure where that person went. Over the last few months, she’s found herself becoming reclusive and withdrawn. And despite living with her two best friends, she’s never felt lonelier. To make things worse, she’s become so dependent on her daily routine, she’s started to slip out of everyone else’s. But when a mysterious battered envelope covered in stars lands on her doormat, Bea wonders if she could find the courage to open it. It isn’t addressed to her, but it could be… if you squinted…

I quite liked this book as I found Bea and myself to be quite similar, we both have battles with confidence and anxiety and at our core, we are always trying to make others happy and putting their happiness before our own.

Bea is a lonely character and that’s the main theme to the story. Loneliness and mental health. But one day she receives an accidental love letter and this gives her a new purpose in life and some new friends. The writer of the letter asks her to get in touch with his grandmother and Bea does this and finds herself pretending to be someone else and this brings out a whole new personality, a passionate and empowered woman instead of a meek and timid character that she becomes in front of her workmates and friends and people repeatedly take advantage of her kind character.

As the story flows along we see Bea become a stronger and more independent woman and characters around her lean on her for support as their own lives unravel.

I thought this book was a well written and tender story, that I really felt an empathy for Bea, touching on grief, stress and depression, this book was a relatable read but with such serious and sensitive issues, Olivia delivers them with wit and charm that really made the book an enjoyable read.

Tenderly written from the first page, ‘The Accidental Love Letter’ is a life affirming and inspirational story that will have you crying and giggling in equal measures.

You can ‘The Accidental Love Letter’ from Amazon and will be available to buy from good bookshops

Sadly not for me. I really didn’t get on with the main character and therefore struggled to enjoy it unfortunately

A unique love story, carefully thought out dealing with grief, loneliness and the power of friendship and peoples perceptions.

DNF! No, no, no. The main character is self-obsessed and an air of superiority about her. Her friendship with her flatmates is superficial and she has selfish friends. I got to about 20% of the book and the accidental letter had only made one appearance in the story. Hard pass.

It's a heartwarming and uplifting story that made me laugh and root for Bea.
Bea is a well written character and you cannot help rooting for this sweet and generous woman.
The plot is entertaining and engrossing, it keeps you hooked and the author did a great job in creating a plot that flows and a great cast of fleshed out characters.
It's an excellent read that I strongly recommend.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

The contents of a letter can change someone’s life in very unexpected ways.

The Accidental Love Letter is a very insightful read. It tells the story of a young woman suffering from severe anxiety, who needs to schedule every single moment of her routine to feel safe.

I do not suffer from anxiety, so I cannot tell if the descriptions are accurate, but I could feel the tension flowing from the pages.

The beginning was a little hard on me. I felt sorry for the heroine (Bea), but at the same time, I felt overwhelmed by her insecurities. Her roommates were so egocentric they made me cringe. She had some co-workers from hell. Her whole situation seemed hopeless.

A few chapters into the story, things start to look less bleak. Bea receives a letter addressed to someone named 'B'. Deep inside, she knows it is not meant for her, but she cannot resist opening it.

The contents of that letter change Bea's life in very unexpected ways.

The story is so much more than a romance. It is a story about the power of love (in all its forms), friendship, and companionship. After reading this book, I will pay more attention to those close to me. I will try to be nicer to my neighbors.

Great read.

Rating: 3.5/5

Despite the word ‘love’ in the title, I wouldn’t necessarily class this novel as a romance. Yes, there is a some if you squint, but it’s not what this book is about. It’s a feel good, at times laugh out loud novel looking at the hardships one will associate with young adulthood, reminding us that sometimes everybody can feel a little bit alone.

The ‘romance' that’s there can easily be labelled as a budding friendship until it changes in the last two chapters or so. So what is this book about? Well, it’s about a girl Bea who has anxiety and her routines and a pretty mundane existence. She keeps a schedule in her head of her everyday routine, and rarely does anything unexpected pop up that would spoil it. That is, until one day she receives a letter, addressed to a girl with her initial, to which she replies in a moment of insanity. This causes things get slightly out of hand and suddenly Bea is thrust into a world of retirement homes where she makes some unexpected friendships that change some orderly routines and even Bea herself.

When I started reading I wasn’t too sure if I’d like the book or even Bea herself. At first she seemed to be lacking a back-bone, sometimes her narrative seemed almost childish. Yet, as more things started to go wrong and the more frustrated Bea became, the more likeable she started to become. She stopped agreeing to everything and started to show that she’s not always happy, and she does have her own opinions. It was lovely to watch, and after a few chapters I was hooked to the point that I ended up finishing the book is one sitting. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a lighter read.

Many thanks to Headline and Olivia Beirne for the opportunity to read and review this book. The Accidental Love Letter was a lovely sentimental read that will warm your heart on a winter's day. Bea is lonely; she lives with her two friends and works in a mundane office job. One day a love letter arrives addressed to 'B" . She cant help reply to the mysterious writer and soon his requests open new doors for Bea. A feel good book that will make you smile.

An odd little book. I couldn’t get any real connection between the three housemates in the story and didn’t really understand Bea’s back story or anxieties. Felt I deserved more from it.

I read and loved Olivia Beirne’s previous novel The List That Changed My Life last year so I was beyond excited to be invited to read and review her new book The Accidental Love Letter. I’m so happy to say that I loved it too!

The Accidental Love Letter follows Bea, who seems to be leading quite a lonely life. She lives with two friends but they’re each in relationships so are often not home. She works for a newspaper but never gets to write the stories she wants to write and she doesn’t connect with her colleagues. Bea likes making lists that plan out her days to the minute, and she seems quite anxious to have her time filled.

I really connected to Bea in this novel. I make lists in my head to plan out my time, particularly when I’m feeling anxious as it makes me feel like I have some control back. I also had my suspicions about the phone calls Bea makes quite often, and this brought a lump to my throat as I have also done this. I was rooting for Bea to find something for herself that would make her happy. So when one day out of the blue she receives a letter to her home addressed to B she is excited. She does wonder if the letter is really meant for her but she is so needing something in her life that she can’t resist opening it, after all it could be meant for her.

Bea ends up completely out of her comfort zone but in the process she finds new friends and a potential story that she can write the newspaper. She isn’t completely honest though and this niggles away at the back of her mind but she ignores it. I was wondering how on earth things were going to work out for Bea, but the whole time I was totally rooting for her.

I love that Olivia Beirne writes these feel-good novels that have real depth to them, along with characters that are so real. I wanted to climb into this book to be Bea’s friend! I also love how I go into Olivia’s books feeling that they’re likely to have a happy ending but also knowing that she will take me to the ending in a way that I absolutely don’t expect and can’t quite predict. Her writing is just wonderful and she is fast-becoming one of my must-read authors!

The Accidental Love Letter is a gorgeous, life-affirming novel that will give you all the feels! I adored this book – I read it in one sitting over the course of an afternoon and it was the most wonderful escapism, it felt like a real treat to myself. Don’t miss out on this book!

Bea is a character who you instantly feel empathy for. You realise fairly early on that she is lonely and needs commitment but once the letter arrives, you realise that this could be her chance to connect. It took a time to get the measure of her, but once I had, I realised that she was a caring but lonely person. I loved her relationships which she forged with the residents and soon saw that it was a two way street. She gets as much from her friendships in the home as the residents feel for her.

This is one of those warm, uplifting stories which you are delighted to read. Once you start, you don't want the narrative to finish. I enjoyed the structure of the story where you saw the events through Bea's eyes, even though there was a lot happening outside her experience. She reacted so readily to her surroundings that you cannot but feel sympathy for her.

In short: A warm. uplifting read

Thanks to the author for a copy of the book.
