Wow what a book ! I was gripped right from the first few lines and the rest of the story didn't disappoint.
The story is the right amount of creepy but still believable. I shall be recommending this one to anyone that will listen,

The blurb for this book just screamed at me, “READ ME!”. I knew as soon as I read the blurb I had to discover for myself why a woman would hand over her baby to a complete stranger and then kill herself. It sure didn’t disappoint either.

The story flicks between Nicole, a high flying career woman in the weeks in the run up to her giving her baby away and Morgan, a totally unsuspecting stranger whose life is turned upside down.

Like Morgan, I was desperate for answers. As the police start looking into Morgan with suspicions turning on her, this made for a frantic read that I daren’t put down. I was interested in both these women, and their stories totally consumed me. I basically read it in two sittings as I couldn’t rest until I knew the outcome.

Woman On The Edge is a story that will have your heart racing whilst tearing through the pages. This is a book once started, you really won’t want to be disturbed. If so, it will be at that person’s peril. A white knuckled read if ever I’ve read one. The pacing, suspense, tension, ending, all of it ticked the boxes for me in this genre and would highly recommend it.

There are many things I enjoyed about Woman on the Edge. The strongest point is the plot that makes this a page-turner in may respects. The opening chapter is instantly compelling, and after reading the next chapter I was left wondering what had gone so wrong that made this woman end up in such a state. There are lots of hooks dropped that hint at past secrets and trauma in the lives of the characters, and the connection between Nicole and Morgan.

The only downside for me was I found it hard to engage with the characters and voice of the novel. There are times when I felt there was a bit too much setting up of the story and staging of the plot rather than letting this play out though the prose. I found this a little distracting, but it’s really a matter of style and personal preference. Overall an enjoyable read but just short of 4 stars for me. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my personal review. #WomanOnTheEdge #NetGalley

A psychological thriller which grabs you by the throat and does not let you go. Gripping, full of tension and suspense. Heartbraking and definitely got my heart racing. I read this book in one sitting, I could not put this book down!!!!! A MUST READ for all readers of this genre. Almost five stars and highly recommended.
I would like to thank the author, publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.

I selected this title to read based on the high ratings of other reviewers. The premise was interesting and the plot straightforward. Any concern for Nicole as she protects her baby and becomes more and more paranoid over her safety is lost, however, when she has already died in the first chapter. In a thriller like this you need more empathy and connection with the characters than usual but I found that difficult when the main emotion of fear and panic is overused and overwrought.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book and I really enjoyed it. Not what I expected at all and it took a few turns so actually wondered what kinda genre it was. But it kept you guessing and 'on the edge' literally till the very end! It well written and you really had understanding for Nicole and empathy. Very very sad at places and I shed a tear or two but it all ended lovely and was a thriller up until the very very end x fab read fully recommended

On a train platform, a disheveled looking woman, Nicole, hands her young daughter to Morgan, a stranger, asks her to love her baby and then jumps in front of the train. Morgan doesn’t know the woman or why she would have handed off her baby before committing suicide. The story follows current day with Morgan and the weeks leading up to Nicole’s actions.

3.5 stars.

I liked things about this book and I didn’t like things about this book. The premise was very interesting and I got into it right away, wanting to know what would lead Nicole to behave the way she did and how all of this was going to work out. I wasn’t as excited when I found out who was involved and why. Still, this was a good debut novel and I would likely read the next one from this author.

If your favoured reading material is a novel with a good sprinkling of shocks, thrills, darkness, danger, paranoia, suspense, secrets, drama and regrets then feel at liberty to read Samantha M. Bailey's début offering - Woman on the Edge.

Psychological thrillers do not come any more exciting and heartbreaking than Woman on the Edge which was an intense, sad and nerve-twisting exploration of a shocking incident and series of events. It disturbed, scared and beguiled me as nothing was quite what it seemed.

Two women's worlds collide on a train station platform. Nicole Markham leads a charmed life, is CEO of her own clothing company and has a gorgeous husband. She is also mum to her lovely seven-week-old daughter. Before jumping in front of a train she hands her baby daughter to Morgan Kincaid. So why would Nicole want to commit suicide? Troubled Morgan is a social worker and longs for a baby of her own. When the police question Morgan, none of the witnesses can corroborate her version of events so she becomes a suspect.

The story was told in a succession of short, snappy, alternating chapters and each word was convincing, conveying the right emotions and it worked excellently in retaining my interest in the story. I was never bored but instead, was lured ever deeper into this compelling tale.

The character development and the general dynamics were both authentic and believable. Nothing was what it seemed and the writing really flowed in this wonderfully crafted, chilling tale. Whilst Nicole and Morgan were both likeable though unreliable as narrators, most of the other characters were extremely unpersonable, but this only added more dimension to the story.

Ingenious, complex and packed full of twists, the ending was hugely fulfilling, For me, Woman on the Edge was worthwhile, clever and something a little different.

Overall, I'd say that this novel is a little gem and a book that I'm so pleased to have read. Samantha M. Bailey may well become one of my favourite authors in this genre.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this novel, at my own request, from Headline via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Morgan is standing at the train platform when a woman thrusts her baby into Morgan’s arms and jumps in front of the train! In shock Morgan sets out to prove she didn’t push her to keep the baby but someone is out to kill her.
What a fast paced read this is. One of my favourite types of books where it could be a film and you can visualise the characters.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.

This was a brilliant read. I enjoy a good psychological thriller and this definitely ticked all the boxes. The story centres around two seemingly unconnected women, Nicole and Morgan. Tragic events in their past shape their future and ultimately give them a connection. I was totally hooked.

Great book. A little confusing at times going between the 2 perspectives, and I predicted the ending but overall a good gripping thriller

Woman On The Edge is the gripping, enthralling story of two emotionally flawed women who it seems fate has decided to throw together in a heart breaking, shocking encounter that results in one of them being dead and the other having to fight to prove that she is neither a child abductor or a murderer.

Nicole Markham has a charmed life, she is beautiful,is CEO of her own clothing company, has a handsome loving husband and is the mother of a gorgeous seven week old daughter. So what would make her want to commit suicide?

Morgan Kincaid is a social worker who works in a refuge for abused women. Her life was torn apart when her husband embezzled lots of many from many people including Morgan's parents and then committed suicide leaving Morgan to face the backlash. Many people including the police believe that Morgan was his accomplice and knew more about her husband's nefarious activities than she has admitted.

The chapters alternate between Morgan and Nicole. Morgan's chapters are set in the present day as we follow her desperate quest to prove her innocence, find out why a complete stranger would ask her to take care if her baby whilst having to deal with the suspicions of the annoyingly blinkered detective who is in charge of the case and having no idea who she can trust. Nicole`s chapters were set in the past as we followed her journey from confident pregnant business women to a anxious, paranoid shell of her former self. Is she suffering from postnatal depression or is someone playing games with her because of her fragile mental state of mind?. As a parent myself, I felt a lot of empathy for poor Nicole and could fully understand her desire to protect her beloved daughter,a desire that was compounded by a sad incident that happened in her past. I thought Morgan was a likeable character but I was also unsure at times about the reliability of her narratives. There was a number of other possibly untrustworthy characters who may or may not have been involved in Nicole`s possible mental decline.

I honestly cannot believe that this extremely well written, tightly plotted thriller is a debut novel. I was hooked in from the first page, totally captivated by the twists and turns as the story unfolded before my eyes. The short snappy chapters, many of which ended on a cliff hanger gave the reader a very bad case of Just one more chapter syndrome. I loved this book and look forward to reading many more books written by this author in the future. Worth far more than five stars and very very highly recommended.

A moment on the platform changes two lives for ever. But nothing is as it seems.
'Take my baby.'
The train is approaching at speed. Why is the stranger handing Morgan her baby? And how does she know Morgan's name?
When the mother then jumps in from of the train, Morgan is stunned. Now the police want to know why she is holding someone else's child. No one else saw what happened.
Desperate to clear her name, Morgan must discover who this woman was. What drove her to end her life? And why did she choose Morgan?

This is the kind of psychological thriller that will leave you staying up late to read it in one go. I kept changing my mind as to who dunnit and why. Some of the characters were a little far fetched particularity the police woman who seemed to bring a vindictive personal agenda to the table and then do a complete 360 in terms of character by the end of the book. I also found the ending a little schmaltzy, but all in all a very enjoyable read and I'd seek out more books by this author in future.

I really liked the cover. It is very appealing designed. The writing style is pleasant and very fluently to read. The characters are very well described and look well thought out and consistently interesting. The tension is always present. The descriptions of surroundings, feelings and scenes were also very good. The story is told pleasant and it succeeds from the first pages to dive directly into the story. The storyline as a whole is very coherent and it seems very understandable and authentic. A very fascinating story that you won't like to stop reading.
