This book is a new police procedural series and introduces us to DS Jenna Morgan.

There book opens with reports of deadly screams and DS Morgan is first on the scene.

DS Morgan and the team find a body of an unknown woman and DS Morgan's sisters' dog, who has also been badly hurt.

The race is on to find Fliss, Jenna's sister, before time runs out.

I think that this book was a great introduction to a new police procedural and it had everything that a successful police procedural should have.

I really enjoyed reading the book and meeting DS Morgan and look forward to more of her adventures!

The Keeper is the first in a new psychological crime series featuring DS Jenna Morgan. At first I wasn’t sure on this book or the characters but they soon had me hooked. Jenna and Fliss definitely grew on me.

We get to see the story unfold from both Fliss and Jenna’s POVs as well as from ‘The Keeper’ which definitely added to the tension. I did guess who the bad guy was but it didn’t take away from the story and there were still times where I second guessed myself. I also loved the fact that for once there was a detective that actually listened to the rules of a case and didn’t go off on her own.

It was full of suspense with an exciting ending and I look forward to any future books in this series.

This book really does kick into action from the start. We see the crime happen from the perspective of Fliss, and it’s genuinely quite terrifying. The intensity, creepiness, and sheer horror of the situation really does come through the pages to the reader.

I really liked Jenna. She’s so determined, and yet her emotions do still come through. Somehow she manages to be a clearly independent and capable woman, as well as vulnerable, and I really liked these depths to her character. The team she works with is brilliant as well, and they all work great together. I loved Mason in particular, his strong attitude and kind personality were so likeable.

I had my suspicions about who was behind the horrific crime, but it turned out I was totally wrong, and it wasn’t until nearer the end that I finally got it. It was a great ending, I felt like all the loose ends were tied up well without being too neat, and it provided the reader with a big sense of relief after such a tense novel!

I’d definitely recommend this for someone wanting a fast-paced, extremely tense, creepy psychological crime novel.

Thank you to Boldwood Books for inviting me on the blog tour for The Keeper by Diane Saxon as well as providing me with an e-copy for an honest review.

The Keeper is the first in the DS Jenna Morgan series. This was pretty dark for a police procedural, including some psychological thriller elements as well. We see the crime from a few perspectives including the victim and the perpetrator.

DS Morgan’s sister Fliss goes missing while walking her beloved dog who is found hurt and near a woman’s body. Jenna must search for her sister before time runs out for her.

The Keeper had a great pace, and was a good start to a police procedural series. It was on the darker side, just because that is usually the case for me when we get perspectives including the victim and the details directly in more of a first person feel. But I thought it was well done and I loved reading the criminal chapters and trying to figure out from the details if the police were getting closer or if they were hidden in the story along the way yet. That kind of writing really pulls me in and helps the pace move.
Really interesting start to a series and I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for the next one

I love a crime thriller and i have read some awesome ones, i love tvshows like it so this book sounded like it would tick alot of the boxes for me.

So when one evening the police respond to "bloodcurdling" screams in the night, D.S Jenna Morgan is first at the scene, not sure what she is walking into it is unexpected, when she finds her sisters Dalmataion seriously injured a chain of dark and twisted events is set in motion. We then follow the team as they try to piece what has happened.

We also see the narrative from Fliss's point of view as she tries to understand what is happening. We also get glimpses of "The Keeper" Boy oh boy, there was alot i did not see coming with this, i was guessing and solving alongside the team but i didnt expect the conclusion.

Within the first few pages i felt panicked, worried and anxious - its the sort of read that really grips at your emotions but it was worth it. Jenna is a fantastic leading lady and i cant wait to follow her story more. Fliss was something else, she was a strong willed - fighter and she was not one to mess with so to see her broken was not a pleasant experience.

Overall this was a great read and like i mentioned i cannot wait to read more!

This story begins so quietly, but the subtle suspense builds very quickly. A dramatic twist leaves the reader reeling. Totally addicted, you have to find out what happens next.

There is a psychological element to this story, but not in the traditional sense., as there is no clear, unreliable protagonist. Rather, this is a fast-paced crime thriller, with a well-thought-out police procedural, and a disturbing, menacing ethos. The crimes are not graphically depicted, but are harrowing and resonate.

Jenna Morgan is a likeable detective, who engages with the reader. This crime is personal, you see her flaws and vulnerability seeping through her professional exterior. She’s easy to empathise you want her to have the outcome she seeks.

With an interesting team of detectives, that all have their own stories, this promises to be an absorbing series. The detective team is male-dominated, which may be authentic, but it would be good to see more women on the team in future stories.

The clues to finding the killer are hidden in plain sight, but knowing who increases the intensity. The ending is a pure adrenaline rush.

Ear piercing screams are heard in the Ironbridge Gorge. DS Jenna Morgan is the first on the scene. During the search Jenna discovers a severely injured dog. As she gets closer her heart misses a beat, the dog she is looking at is Domino the beloved Dalmatian who belongs to her sister Fliss. Where is her sister? I was gripped from the first to the last page, read this book in one sitting only stopping when I really had to. Yes this book is so good!!!!! Full of tension and suspense and as for the explosive climax WOW!!!!
A new author for me and one I will certainly read again. A new name in crime fiction and definitely one to watch. An easy five stars and so Highly Recommended.

Well, this certainly is a great start to a new series!

The author has created a wonderful set of characters and I enjoyed getting to know them.

I love the team of investigators and if I have to pick a favorite one, it would be a hard choice. After some reflection, I think I would pick Mason. He is a typical male, but has a heart of gold and he made me smile as well. He is loyal and honest. Who does not love a man like that? ;)

The author knows how to add creepiness to a story. I read a big part of it last night and I decided to finish it this morning. :)

I would never have guessed that this would be the culprit. I admit that this person acted a bit strange at a certain point, but hey acting strange is not synonym for murderer.

The story illustrates that some people can keep their true colours very well hidden.

I am looking forward to DS Morgan's next adventure. 4 stars.

Thank you, Diane Saxon and Boldwood Books.

This was one of those books that as soon as I actually got started reading it I was immediately sucked in. I finished it in two days and loved every second of it. I’m a sucker for a family dynamic and having the one sister kidnapped was the perfect thing for me to read to help me get out of my reading slump!

This is a good start to a new police series, starting out at an almighty fast pace. DS Jenna Morgan's sister goes missing whilst out walking her dog. The body of a woman is found close to the injured dog but there is no sign of Fliss. Set around Shropshire, the characters are interesting, the plot is good and the book is well written. A quick easy read in what looks to be a promising series. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

I loved this debut psychological crime novel by Diane. It was like watching an eposide of criminal minds, I was totally engrossed im the novel from the first chapters and absolutely devoured the novel trying to figure out who the kidnapper was. The novel had a steady and engaging flow with wonderful character development of both likeable and unlikable characters. I will definitely be keeping my eyes out for other crime novels by Saxon in the future.

It's a dark and cool night when Fliss decides to take her beloved dog Domino for a walk along the Ironbridge Gorge, everything is fine until Fliss thinks she hears a noise. Suddenly Domino is tumbling down the side of the Gorge followed closely by Fliss. But why and how? Fliss is badly injured and looking around for Domino in the dark when she stumbles across a dead body. Thats all she remembers when she awakes in a hazy fog in a cellar chained to a bed.
Luckily for Fliss the night walkers on the other side of the Gorge called in her horrific screams. Police, including Fliss's sister, Jenna, show up to investigate. Quickly they discover Domino but have no Idea where Fliss is. They then discover the body. Could Fliss's disappearance and this body be connected?
Will Fliss be found safe and sound? Could there possibly be any more horrendous things uncovered during this investigation?
This is one addictive twisty crime novel I know I'll be recommending for a long time!

Will be posting my review on goodreads, Facebook and Instagram October 5th my tour day

DS Jemma Morgan is first at the scene when reports came in a out people hearing deadly screams coming from Ironbridge Gorge. During the search they find a woman's body and Jenna's sister, Fliss's dog who is badly I cured. But there is no sign of Fliss. Who is the woman they found? Where is Fliss.

This is a good introduction to a new police procedural series and it starts of with a bang. I liked Jenna for several reasons. The characters are true to life. Jenna races against time to find and save her sister who had witnessed something she shouldn't have seen. The story is well written and the plot believable. I got into this story very quickly. A promising start to a new series.

It looks good on Diane, coming from American romance to British psychological thriller.

Set in Shropshire in the area of Telford the story is set for 2 sisters, 1 of which is police officer DS Morgan and the other sister is Fliss Morgan and her gorgeous Dalmatian, Domino. If you don't like dog injury just skip that bit but a believable plot and I had thought the culprit was someone else to who it actually turned out to be.

The story is about taking a witness to something terrible. Can the witness escape her prison? Find out in this first in the series.

I look forward to reading the next in the series to see what Diane comes up with next.
