I loved Lucy Foley's writing style.
Welcome to a wedding in a place where it's history of violence may haunt you.
Meet these people :-
Aoife :- The Wedding planner
Hannah - The plus one
Johnno: The Best Man
Olivia: The Bridesmaid
Jules: The Bride
Olivia: The Bridesmaid
X :- A dead body.
A dead body is found and spoiled everything. Whose body was it? Who were they? Why were they killed?
Who's this killer?
One of them?
Read this mind blowing novel to know that awesome ending which satisfied me to the bone. Lucy has done a good job in creating tense atmosphere. Although Hannah was a little confusing for me but I got it after two chapters.
Narration and dialogues were the main strength of the story.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK Harper Fiction for giving me an advance copy.

"And then the lights go out."

Whhhewwwww I can barely catch my breath. This book has everything I love in a book all in one go.

Thrillers can get a bit samey after you read a few but this offers something different to every book I've ever read before, I am impressed.

The story jumps back and fore in time between different perspectives but you don't get confused at all, its made very clear whose POV and where in the timeline you are at the beginning of each chapter and I really liked that.

The book itself has so many twists I didnt think everything would be neatly wrapped up by the end, but Foley gets all the loose threads tied together and it was amazing.

A 6/5 book for me and definitely a contender for my favourite read the year. I'm still catching my breath.

This one was impossible to put down - so many twists and turns that kept me guessing right until the end!
Jules and Will are the perfect couple, having the perfect wedding in the middle of nowhere with all their friends and family. But the perfect wedding suddenly takes a shocking turn when a body is found - who is it and why were they killed?
I haven’t read many mystery/thrillers at all recently as I was starting to feel it had all been done - but Foley has gladly proved me wrong! I loved the way she used so many different characters to tell the story, so it was almost like trying to put the separate pieces of the puzzle together - and of course there was a very satisfying ending! This book was atmospheric, fast-paced and exactly what I needed to get me out of my thriller slump - cannot wait to read Foley’s other works.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins for an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

Lucy Foley is definitely one of my new favourite authors!

Last year I read The Hunting Party, which I gave 4.5⭐ and I just finished The Guest List, which I have given another 4.5⭐

I loved how the story began, developed and ended.

I liked every single character, their secrets, the mystery around them and the whodunit thing.

I also enjoyed the writing style very much. It was fast-paced, easy to read and understand despite being quite a lot of characters.

Aoife, the wedding planner and wife of Freddy, the cook.

Will Slater and Julia (Jules) Kergan, the groom and the bride.

Charlie, Julia's best friend and husband of Hannah.

Olivia, Julia's half sister and also Johnno, Will's best man.

Soon enough the problems, jealousies, past ghosts, insecurities and doubts started to happen and the story just became a fun and crazy wedding in a remote big house.

I was very looking forward to finding out who had killed who and why and how and when. And when the final twist came, it surprised me although it didn't shocked me that much.

That's the only reason I didn't give this book a 5/5⭐ rating, but overall, I really enjoyed it and had lots of fun reading it!

I have not read the previous book by this author but I enjoyed this book so much that I am going to now read it. The Guest List is about a celebrity wedding on an island, combined with a murder and the events that have affected the lives of various guests. The story was told using a few of the guests and the wedding planner. It was very engaging and I would recommend it. A novel approach which works very well.

The Guest List is a good book and was definitely one that was well written. Throughout the story, Foley does a good job at developing a good cast of characters and developing their backgrounds, which is also such a good way at developing the plot. These little backgrounds that we get on the characters were fantastic ways of not only developing the characters but also at introducing hints at to ‘who’ the killer/victim is and ‘why’, their reason behind it. If you read it carefully, you get all your answers right in front of you, so it could be quite predictable, but she did a good way at giving you all the answers instead of them appearing out of nowhere.

After reading Lucy Foley’s The Hunting Party, I found myself disappointed. I had expected a lot more from it, but I remained curious about the author’s work. There was potential there, and that had me willing to dive into The Guest List.

I enjoyed The Guest List more than I enjoyed The Hunting Party, but I couldn’t bring myself to round my rating up. It was a three-point-five-star rating, with too many things pulling it down to a final three-star rating.

The story certainly held me attention and I was curious to see how all the pieces would play out, but it was much slower than I would have liked. I’m fine with slow reads, but I expect there to be a big payoff at the end. As it was, the ending felt like it was over and done with in the blink of an eye – not to mention, there were certain details that were never answered. Despite this, I was curious throughout and it held my attention.

All in all, an addictive read, but it didn’t wow me in the way it could have.

Fantastic thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. Engaging characters, secrets in abundance. A brilliant story that had me racing through the pages to find out what happened next. Highly recommend this book.

This book definitely exceeded my expectations. I went into this book thinking it would be a decent thriller. I was so wrong. It was a great thriller!

The creepy setting of the remote Irish island combined with the looming storm created such a dark and unsettling atmosphere. The characters and their relationships were surprisingly complex and were explored slowly across the story in tandem with the building tension, until the final reveal, which I really did not see coming. I love being surprised, and the twists did not disappoint. As soon as I thought I had worked it out, I was proved wrong with another surprise. It was so thrilling to read.

This book reminded me why reading can be exciting and unpredictable. I really recommend this novel!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I very much enjoyed this book and it kept me guessing both the identity of the victim and the murderer until the very end. If you liked “The Hunting Party” you will love “The Guest List.” Lucy Foley is a worthy successor to Agatha Christie.

A really thrilling read. When Jules and Will a golden couple with everything going for them ,their celebrity wedding is held on a remote island. What happens that day brings secrets from the past that eventually leads to a tragedy as events spiral out of control. A fabulous mix of characters and as the day unfolds and tragic events come to light there are plenty of their friends who finally realise that people are not always as perfect as they are made to look..A real page Turner and a 5⭐read

The Guest List is a modern take on a classic Agatha Christie’s mystery murder and I love everything about it.

On the day of the lavish wedding on the remote Irish island someone has been murdered but the reader won’t get to find out who or why until nearly the end of the book.

The whole story is told over a 48 hours period with short chapters making it an intense read. I loved everything about this novel. The atmosphere of the island with its sea, cliffs and storm was incredibly eerie and at times spooky with which helped with the suspense. Multiple POV was a brilliant idea as we slowly got to know each of their characters and their potential motive. Each of the wedding guests have their own secrets and lies. Everyone in your eyes will become a suspect and you can trust no one.

I really thought this book was superb and definitely worth reading. Highly recommend.

'It Couple' Jules Keegan and Will Slater's wedding on an island off the coast of Connemara is interrupted when a body is found not far from the reception tent.

I have realised recently that I LOVE a closed circle mystery, so this book ticks a lot of boxes for me:
Murder Mystery ✓
Small, isolated Irish setting ✓
Multiple POVs ✓
Dark secrets ✓
Twists ✓

We follow five distinct characters in the days and hours leading up to the wedding; The bride, the bridesmaid, the best man, the plus one and the wedding planner. We get to know and even like some of these people but we never fully trust any of them as we are kept guessing as to the identity of both the murderer and the victim until the closing pages.

Thoroughly entertaining!

I was so excited to get to one of the most hyped thrillers of the year and The Guest List definitely fulfils its promise of being a dark, wedding-based thriller.

Set on a tiny island off the coast of Ireland, The Guest List follows a range of characters attending the wedding of an online magazine owner and the star of a TV survival show. The perspectives include the bride and groom as well as the best man, a plus one and the wedding organiser. Each chapter is labelled with the character name and their role, which alongside their distinctive characteristics, balances the narrative perfectly. I thoroughly enjoyed the strong island setting and found it particularly apt to be reading it while hearing the gusts of winds outside my own window.

None of the characters are likeable, except perhaps Hannah, and many of them only get worse. If anything, this book made me angry towards men, especially Charlie who I found myself yelling at (literally) at several points. Like many thrillers, The Guest List doesn’t need likeable characters to keep you reading. I didn’t care that Jules was selfish, or that Will was obsessed with himself, I only cared to find out what would happen when they were all trapped together for a weekend.

I predicted the murderer from very early in the book, as well as another major plot point, but that didn’t ruin the book for me. I could never have guessed the character’s backstories and details that connect them. Although it’s not the smartest thriller I’ve read, the pacing is great and the story is addictive. This lives up to the hype of being a great thriller and it’s definitely making waves this year.

I am so so glad I requested this on NetGalley. Thank you for approving my request to read it.

I'm in love with this book. At first, I feel distracted with the use of vulgar language but after I discarded all those trivial matters, I am deeply immersed and blown away with the story.

It's eerie, gothic, tense, atmospheric, blood pumping, and like any other brilliance story, the family drama got me crying. It basically holds every element that I could ever wish for in a good thriller. It suffices to say, it is FAR BETTER than The Hunting Party. The concept, ingeniously good. The plot had me intrigued all the way. The different POV usually makes me annoy but it felt really exciting this time. The eagerness in every line combine with the dark scenery really makes me jump and my eyes don't dart away at all. It makes me want more. It would be wonderful to see the book on the screen.

I loved that the author always insert bizarre and mesmerizing places as a setting that will give you a strong feeling that something unusual and not likely about to happen.

I am so satisfied! Right, I am. I don't see it coming and it's awful to wish for it, but talk about a good story! It's one of those books that you can read really fast and devour in a day, but settling the right mood is my top priority. Definitely worth a reread.

This is the second Lucy Foley book I have read, and it follows the same format which I loved in the Hunting Game. It starts with a dead body and then chapters are from different character’s view point, until we get closer to finding out who the body is and who murdered them, with each chapter getting progressively shorter. I really enjoyed this book again, although I feel there were too many coincidences by the end, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. Although both books have followed the same format, I would definitely read another book by Lucy, although I would leave a gap of time before doing so.

This is such a well written thriller! I couldn't wait to read this after I finished The Hunting Party and wasn't disappointed at all. Loved the pacing of the story and the cast of characters. Some great twists in the tale too! I'll definitely recommend this and I'll be on the lookout for more from Lucy Foley too. Thanks so much for sharing this review copy.

Absolutely fantastic whodunnit! This book was fast paced and nice short chapters from different members of the wedding party. I love that we don’t find out who is actually killed until right at the end, there were so many different potential killers and I did not expect it to be who it was.

This definitely lived up to the hype for me!
