After reading one more mystery upon another thriller followed by a suspense novel, there are times when it is hard to dial down the armchair detective and just enjoy the book. Although no new literary ground was broken, this story had a lot of potential. Even though it was a bit predictable, what disappointed me the most was the Denouement Dump at the end. The final resolution was wrapped up by both a letter and a confession. I would have liked to have read something more substantive and creative rather than a plot summary. Again, this story does have the potential to wow with the aid of some reverse engineering.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview The Stranger In Our Bed by Samantha Lee Howe. A young wife finds herself in an unhappy marriage with a rich man. She has everything but still feels empty. She meets a man who makes her "feel", makes her "happy", and she is ready to move on from her husband. But this stranger ghosts her. Now she isn't sure of what is real and what is not and if she's crazy or not. The stranger is the key, but can she unlock this mystery.
Found myself wondering if these characters were real - not sure I bought into this culture and therefore, the book was just ok fo rme.

I understand completely the tone that Samantha tried to set in this book, I found it sinister but it’s lacking in a lot of areas.

Please suspend belief if you’re going to read this. You’re going to be shouting at the characters, you might even throw your kindle in anger as I did (twice!). Also the plot is so slow but rapid at the same time. Nothing really happens but on the next sentence you're suddenly on the next month in Charlottes life.

I also hated the way that mental health and kinks were the explanation for the antagonists behaviour. Neither of these things make someone a bad person. Charlotte was stupid and I greatly disliked her, I can not understand her actions at all. They make no sense.

Oh and the ending is just too convenient. The conflict is solved and everyone’s happy. It’s been wrapped perfectly (not) with a giant shiny bow to top it off.

I’m sorry to say I just didn’t like this. A rare 1/5.
