I loved the title of the book. I think that is one reason that I wanted to read the book. The title grabbed me but the impact for me seemed to end there.

I found nuggets of truth in the book.

Why do people persevere? "it is because God gave them a vision for something, and they were willing to work, and wait, and push, and wait, and sweat, and suffer, and struggle, and wait some more . . . and never quit until the vision God gave them became a reality."

"Every difficulty reveals how badly we want something and how much we believe in something."

The book has numerous examples of individuals who did not quit. It has examples from the Bible as well.

While I got some nuggets of truth that helped me, I felt the book was disjointed. I could not always follow the flow of what the author was trying to express. It could partly be the formatting as this was an ebook.

Thank you netgalley for a copy of this book. The review and opinions are my own.

I received an ARC from Moody Publishers, via NetGalley this review is my personal opinion.

While growing up, I have met many people that loved God and wanted to follow Him. But sadly right now. There are not there, I used to think that there was some kind of unknown mystery that only a few knew. What I like about this book is that it gives an answer to those questions, How we as Christian can endure and persevere and end well with the help of God.

Doug Gheman takes three kinds of perseverance: Everydayday endurance, the real-life situation that wants to robe our peace and faith, and how according to the bible we need to face them. I like this phrase: “Humility and clarity in God’s purpose help us grow in wisdom and know the difference”. Aspiration for greatness is about our dreams and how our calling in life should be united to our wants in life. Moral courage is to do what is right, to be courageous, and be brave on what God asks us to do according to his way and his name be glorified.

I like how this book is structure, I know many can relate to the struggles and real situations described in each chapter. Doug Hegman gives helpful and Biblical advice about different topics that it will help us see that many times we need to shift our focus and center our life in God. Sometimes quitting seems a good and maybe the only choice, Doug Gheman remind us we are not alone, that even in the midst of unanswered prayers difficult, quitting should never be an option.

I must read for everyone, and I believe it will a great addition to have especially during hard times.

As Christians, we persevere through difficulty, not for ourselves, but for the glory of God, and so that other people can see Him in us. When we live a life of perseverance, our story becomes one worth telling, worth following, worth remembering. Our life can be remembered as a legacy rather than a tragedy.

Before you quit, look at what is at stake. Look to what we are called to. We are not called to a life of comfort but a life that says nothing else matters but God's glory. To make Him known. The text speaks of worship because it is in worship we put our eyes off ourselves and to who God is. I think it is important to realize what our sin nature really means. We are focused on ourselves and comfort. We may be a nice guy and even generous, however, without Him, the focus is not about life and death. Accepting God, we are choosing life. In choosing life, we are compelled to endure.

The chapter titles give you a feel for how the text flows.

"Somewhere between our hopes for a trouble-free life and the reality of difficulties, we can experience God’s grace and forward movement toward His designed goals." Doug Gehman has written an extremely encouraging book about what it takes to persevere using the word of God and examples from his own and other peoples lives. By looking at why we persevere and helping us focus on our reasons for preserving despite difficulties, Doug Gehman helps us to endure .

This book is really heavy with the Bible links. So heads up to anyone that’s just a little religious but not really (like myself). I plan on recommending this book to family and friends who love scripture and self help books. It almost reads like a textbook.
