Uncovering the Love of Jesus by Asheritah Ciuciu is a beautiful devotional devotional for Lent. I love the author’s thoughtful take on the Scriptures and I think they are perfect for individual study or family devotions. I particularly love the fun family activity ideas that are included with the devotional. They are perfect for creating special family memories and for bringing the Scriptures to life. Uncovering the Love of Jesus by Asheritah Ciuciu is a 7 week + devotional leading up to Easter. What a blessing it is to look forward to reading each day as you approach Resurrection Sunday. She gives great challenges and ideas for family memory making. Along with that, she also includes a daily prayer and some cross-references. I have really enjoyed this author’s other work and this is right up there with what she has published so far. I’m praying for more by her.

This was a good Lenten devotional. I enjoyed the way she paralleled events in the life of Jesus with the characteristics of love in 1 Corinthians 13. I also enjoyed the activities she suggested weekly for families to do together. It was a simple but powerful devotional.

Asheritah does it again...Another amazing book that I absolutely loved reading.
If you've ever wondered what Lent is all about, this is an incredible resource. Broken down into 40 daily devotionals focusing on the love of Jesus, Asheritah guides the reader into an experience of preparing your heart for Easter, just as you would prepare your heart for Christmas, through the Advent season.

This book can be gone through individually or with your family (ideally Elementary age and up) and includes resources and links to several activities to do throughout your time of observing Lent. At the end of each reading there is an application challenge as well as a guided prayer. With it's beautiful design and graphics, it would make a great gift!

I look forward to going through this again more slowly and will mostly likely make it a yearly tradition because it is a wonderful way to prepare my heart for Easter, before it "sneaks up on me" as it often does!

We did the author's Advent book a few years ago in Bible study. What I especially like about her approach is it's written as someone who is new to observing these liturgical seasons. The intimate look readers get into the deep love of Jesus for his people is an ideal thing to reflect on during the lenten season. Each day felt like "just the right amount of reading" to have something to think on throughout the day.

After reading her other devotional I just knew I needed to get my hands on this one. I enjoy that her devotionals are not just steeped in scripture, but also action. I enjoy that it's not just her writing out tons of instructions and guidelines, but rather that she makes it personal for the readers to interact.

If you have never done lent or are curious about lent, or want to improve your relationship with Jesus, this book leads you down that path. The author has set it up like this.
“Each day begins with a theme verse or two, followed by “Read the Story,” an indication of where you can open your Bible to read that day’s narrative from one of the Gospels. At the end of the devotional, you’ll find a challenge to help you apply what you’ve learned of Jesus’ love that day, as well as a prayer to respond to Him, and verses for further study.” You can do it by yourself or with your family or friends. And by the end of the seven week journey you will not only understand lent but, more important, you will understand the Lords love for us all.

I couldn't connect with the writing style. I feel separated each time I tried to read it. This devotional wasn't something that I would pick up for Lent.

If you're looking for a book for Lent that is neither too deep nor too superficial but gives just the right amount of teaching and instruction from which to enhance your own journey then this is a good start. Whether you accept everything or not it's good for making you reflect and think about your own journey with Jesus. I came to Lent only fairly recently, coming from a Christian background where it wasn't really practised but I've grown to anticipate it and would consider this book an aid to that. I'm also a fairly slow reader so the smaller sections (no massively long diatribes) were good for me. If you want to delve deeper it sets a foundation for that too. Personally I found the opening sections on Why Observe Lent? and What Should I Sacrifice for Lent? helpful and that's before the book really gets started properly! Recommended.

This authors intent is for families to see Lent for the beautiful, sacrificial, reflective time of year that it is and be grateful for God's providence.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it for families who desire to share and reflect on the time coming up to the cross of Christ, Easter.

This book is a great devotional for the Lenten season. Ciuciu has written 40 devotions that emphasize how Jesus loved people in Bible times and how He loves us now. The book is designed to help us show that same love to others.

Each devotion has a story about Jesus to read, challenges to apply what was learned, a prayer and Scripture references for additional study. An added feature is a once a week family celebration. There are suggested activities each week, from crafts to service projects.

I really like this Lenten devotional. Ciuciu has a way of making the stories of Jesus' encounters with others really come alive. I also like her emphasis of sharing God's love with others. “We cannot claim to have experienced Jesus' love and remain indifferent to those suffering around us ...” (Loc 144/1743) I also like the weekly family sessions. There are good activities suggested to help children understand the love of Jesus and possible ways of giving that same love to others. Ciuciu will have resources on her website, such as printable activity sheets, when the book is released.

This a lenten devotional, and while written well, it simply was not the book I was hoping to read. I recommend though, if you are looking for a lenten devotional that includes families.

This is a unique and wonderful book. Preparing you for Easter, Resurrection Sunday. Has devotions to reflect on Jesus and His ministry.
Has family celebrations and activities for every day.
I highly recommend this book.

Personally, Ciuciu's carefully crafted devotionals helped me recapture my wonder of Jesus, my awe of who He is. As I journeyed through His time on earth, observing again His interactions with people, I found myself in tears, thankful for Jesus' life, death, and resurrection--for all he accomplished for me. I also found the activity ideas for each week to be simple and doable for busy families, yet meaningful. While Christmas seems to get the most attention, Easter and Jesus' resurrection are central to our Christian faith. This book, for my family, will help us to recapture the wonder of Jesus' sacrifice and resurrection--to fully experience the wonder of his amazing grace. I can't wait to use this book with my family during the next Lent season.
