I really liked the cover. It is very appealing designed. The writing style is pleasant and very fluently to read. The characters are very well described and look well thought out and consistently interesting. The tension is always present. The descriptions of surroundings, feelings and scenes were also very good. The story is told pleasant and it succeeds from the first pages to dive directly into the story. The storyline as a whole is very coherent and it seems very understandable and authentic. A very fascinating story that you won't like to stop reading.

When a young girl goes missing the neighborhood comes together to help find her. But do they really know everything about the family of the young girl? This book is great for fans of Liane Moriarty...but just a bit darker! It has an engrossing writing style and uses multiple character points of view, which definitely leaves you wanting more. Definitely a compulsive page-turner!

The Good Neighbor is fast-paced and chock full of twists and turns. It's a psychological thriller that explores obsession from many different angles- mother/child, community and the social media frenzy around true crime and crowd-sourcing leads.

At times, the story moved into the realm of the unbelievable (particularly around Taylor's character) and there are a lot of characters to keep track of throughout the book. But for the most part, it's a engrossing read that kept me interested throughout the book and did a great job at showing how terrifying (and how real) obsession is in our society and how grief and change a person (sometimes for the better, and sometimes for the worst).

I look forward to reading more of Cathryn Grant's work.

Thank you to #netgalley and Inkubator Books for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Well I didn’t expect that.....

When a young girl goes missing in the middle of the night a neighbor will join together to help find her. But how far is to far for a neighbor to go to help each other?

The Good Neighbor was a good suspense read. I didn’t expect the ending, which is always a good thing. I love it when a book surprises me. This is my first book by Cathryn Grant and I am already looking forward to more books from her.

If you are looking for a good suspense read make sure to pick up a copy of The Good Neighbor. You may never look at your neighbors the same after this book.

I enjoyed the first 70% of this book very much. Told from multiple points of view the story is about the disappearance of a 14 year old girl - runaway ... abducted...? The story was fast paced and the writing style kept me engaged. I found the ending over dramatic and unbelievable which spoiled it a little for me.

Suspense and lots of suspense. This book is a pure psychological thriller. Good characters, worth reading.

I read this book in one sitting, I honestly don't think I could have put it down if someone had set my fingers alight. The main characters were so multi layered that every time I thought I was seeing the real person another facet of their character would be revealed. I had absolutely no idea how the story was going to pan out, I just knew that I was loving every minute. Even when reading the last line I was left unsure of what the future would hold but instead of feeling cheated I found it really satisfactory.

I enjoyed reading this book but I thought that a lot of the actions of the characters were far fetched. The actions of the parents and neighbors didn't ring true for me especially Taylor, but It's the actions of the police that I found hardest to believe. I understand the author trying to use social media as a concept in the story but I find it unbelievable that the police would recommend such 'vigilante type action during an active investigation. The way the police told the neighbors not to talk to each other and interacted with the parents and neighbors just didn't feel right. For me this book was a nice way to spend a couple of hours but I just found it very unrelateable

I think the fact that I devoured this book in a single afternoon is enough proof that it's a thrilling read!
It starts off with your standard 'child goes missing' arc but eventually progresses into a twisted tale that makes you question morals! I'll admit that some of the decisions made in this are pretty questionable and probably not at all realistic, but I was hooked on all of the turns laid out by the author. To start with the multiple POVs were quite confusing as you're quickly introduced to quite a few characters although this does settle as you get to know the book.
If you're looking for a fast-paced thriller/mystery then I highly recommend this!

Many thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

This story is too far fetched by far. From the casual way the missing girl was handled by the police to the ridiculous behaviour of the parents and neighbours. Don’t get me started on the ending! I can’t believe I bothered reading it to the end. Sad that I will never get that time back again...

The Good Neighbour is a gripping psychological thriller. Set around the disappearance of 14 year old Brittany, the lives of one quiet cul-de-sac will never be the same. Fast paced with twists that keep you turning those pages!

This is the first novel by Cathryn Grant I’ve read, and all I can say is WOW. A fourteen-year-old girl goes missing from her bedroom one night from a cul de sac. The family had just moved there two months ago, and because the girl is home schooled and the mother is the teacher and the dad works from home, no one in the community knows this family. However, their neighbor, Taylor, who’s married but has no kids of her own, decides she’ll start a Facebook page to try and help track Brittany down. That page ultimately brings out a whole lot of crazies, but also a lot of dark secrets.

There was a time in the novel where I pretty much didn’t like the decisions of anyone I thought I was supposed to rooting for, but by the surprising end, I had empathy for just about everybody. This wasn’t a fun read in that its cast by some very damaged people, but it is fun in that I couldn’t wait to find out how it ended. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book and discover a new-to-me author.

This book was just okay for me. It was a really slow read until about 60%. Some of the points of view seemed a little pointless (Alan, Luke) and how many crazy people do you need in one book. Apparently the answer is all your main characters! I wasn't crazy about the ending as well. I would consider it more of a fiction novel than a thriller, which is what they tried to sell it as. Maybe if I would have gone into knowing that I would have enjoyed it more.

Talk about a book that makes you wonder about your neighbors. It was a little slow going at first, but once it picked up the pace I was dying to figure out what happened to the poor girl. There were definitely some good plot twists. I felt like, man this could really happen, unlike some stories with twists that are just so off the wall. Good book!

Well written psychological thriller.
Captivating, suspenseful... secrets secrets secrets... interesting from page one. A real page turner.

The past NEVER stays buried, that's for sure!

Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.

"A Good Neighbor" by Cathryn Grant is a thriller that keeps your attention up until the very end. The story takes place in little neighborhood in California and after a new family moves into town, their 14 year old daughter goes missing.

Each chapter is a different character's perspective and their knowledge of the disappearance. There were a few plot twists throughout the book and it wasn't predictable at all. The ending was satisfying and again, I really enjoyed this thriller.
