Great overview for new vegans and vegan curious people. I expected recipes but this book is about nutrition and the basics instead. Not the info I needed but if that’s what you’re looking for this book has you covered.

I would say this book is not only for people who want to become vegan and would like advice as how to go down (or up ;-) that road but also for anyone interested in changing their ways towards eating more plant based food.
It presents a lot of interesting facts as to why we should turn vegan and makes you think about the issues, it might not turn you vegan but it will definitely encourage you to go towards eating fewer animal products.
The book is not only about food as it gives quite a bit of information on how to live vegan. I am sure this would be a good guide for people who wish to do that but are a bit lost as to what to do and what to buy (or not). This was less interesting to me but it would have been if I wanted to become vegan.
What I would have prefered is a good chapter on how to eat a really balanced diet as a vegan and at least a few recipes to get going.
Quite a positive point in the book is the advice on what to say when challenged by non-vegans AND the highlighted points on how not to be preachy as a vegan.
This should be read and digested by all these aggressive holier than thou vegan 'activists' who just wreck the cause with their attitude and turn people off.
Communicating as described in the book will convince people or at least get them interested in the points you are raising. The first step to change...

So a good book if you are interested in veganism for whatever reason, good information and good points presented in a cool and friendly way, nice one !

An absolutely fabulous book for new vegans, those wishing to go vegan and even long term vegans. I found it very interesting and I think the Bosh! guys are fabulous and they do some banging food!

Some great recipes and easy to follow ideas. As with their other Bosh books, it does what it sets out to do - make vegan cooking accessible, interesting, and delicious, very well. I would have liked to see slightly more less intensive recipes and more ideas for non-meat substitute recipes, but I think that probably wasn't the point of the recipe book, so perhaps that's an unfair ask.

If you're looking for interesting, different vegan recipes, then this is a book that will get a lot of use in your kitchen.

I loved this book. I've been trying to make the change to a vegan lifestyle for a long time but this book really gave me the grounding to go for it.

I confess this wasn’t what I expected, no recipes or anything, just page after page of a lecture on Veganism. The writing was fine, but the content was like a very extended blog post. Sorry. Not for me.

Firstly, it is worth making clear that this is a guidebook to veganism and contains very few recipes. As a guidebook, I think this does its job very well. None of the information couldn't be found elsewhere on the internet, and someone who has been vegan for a long time probably wouldn't find much new; however, for someone new to veganism this book would be fantastic to have most of the advice needed in one place.

The book covers pretty much every question someone considering reducing their meat and dairy would have in a sensible, informative and very non-preachy way. Something that particularly caught my attention early in the book was that the BOSH boys are very clear that people can reduce their meat and dairy intake without necessarily becoming a strict vegan. To me this is a very important message as I am a vegetarian who consciously tries to reduce dairy but I am not currently comfortable making the transition to veganism. When people learn that I am vegetarian (and I am sure that this is the experience of many), they say that they would be vegetarian/vegan but they can't give up *insert food type here*. The all or nothing stigma around veganism is what puts a lot of people off even trying, but in reality if you want to cut out all meat in your diet but still eat fish, or have your Sunday lunch at the parents, then I think that is fantastic. Anyone concerned about the environmental impacts of consuming animal products could read this book and find some small changes that they could make without being told that they immediately have to stop eating all of their favourite foods.

There are a couple of recipes scattered throughout the book, but the most useful sections include vegan swaps for animal products and ideas for how to 'veganise' your favourite meals. A lot of people would be surprised at how simple a couple of food swaps could be. This would also make a lovely companion book to the other BOSH cookery books.

A really good book for those entering the world of veganism, I feel would make a perfect introduction. I don’t feel however if you’re already vegan it would tell you anything you don’t already know. Wonderful clear language, easy to navigate and understand, full of passion and enthusiasm, highly recommended reading for the wannabe vegan or just someone trying to be greener, healthier and planet conscious

Anyone who is already vegan, who want more information about it or are thinking about adopting a vegan lifestyle, READ THIS BOOK!

Veganism can be an intimidating topic - there's a lot of false reports, contradicting views, misconceptions and a general lack of knowledge and understanding of what it means to be vegan.

What I liked especially about this book is how it emphasizes the importance of going at your own pace - you decide how you want (or if) to implement veganism into your life, you can go gradually or straight away, whatever feels comfortable and manageable for you. It gives you facts and evidence on how going vegan can have a positive impact on your life, AND save the planet, one meat-free meal at a time. Seriously, I was amazed at how big of an impact that cutting meat out of just one meal a week can have on the environment.

This book will help you separate fact from fiction and give you the knowledge you need to decide for yourself if veganism is a path you want to take, now, slowly over time or in the near future. Or even at all. This book doesn't throw judgement over anyone or their lifestyle choices, it doesn't preach that vegans are superoir or try to make people feel guilty if they're not vegan. We are all brought up to live a certain way, and you cannot expect people to change, or want to change the only way they've ever known to live, overnight or at all! And if you decide to make the change to veganism, you don't have to go all or nothing and it's 100% okay to make mistakes!

This book states that veganism is also a cheaper way of living - personally I've found that not to be true, only because I don't have the motivation or patience to cook every meal from scratch. Products advertised as being "vegan" or "free-from" are pretty expensive and the cost of living off of exclusively vegan products can easily build up. This book acknowledges that, so it encourages a plan/prep ahead approach and to buy ingredients to make your vegan meals from scratch. This is not a feasible option for everyone and is not a process myself and many others want to have to do all the time. We should be able to go in to any shop and buy vegan products that aren't being sold at a higher price purely because it's vegan - they shouldnt be a luxury product, they should be an essential, just like meat and milk is to others. Maybe once veganism becomes more commonplace, prices will come down.

It also doesn't acknowledge that some allergies/intolerances may make it harder to eat a vegan diet. Soy, mycoprotein, nuts, seeds, legumes and coconut are some of the common ingredients in vegan foods, so this should also be taken in to consideration before you go all soy-out!

An interesting concept from the hugely popular authors of the Bosh books (of which I admit to being a fan despite being more of a Pesci-Chicki-Flexi-tarian!). This book offers a great overview for the wannabee or new vegan (whether that be you or someone you know). It also offers much insight for those wanting to spring clean their diet and their lifestyle without taking the full plunge. Much of it isn’t rocket science but it is hugely accessible and informative, bringing together a comprehensive companion to the issues related to plant based lifestyles. A niche market but well executed for its reader group.
