I really liked the sound of a book set around New Year’s Eve, but the whole “British in India” take on it maybe just want up my street so much.

Another super read from this author. Emotional and engrossing, transporting you to another era. A recommended read if you like Dinah Jefferies, Rosanna Ley, etc.

Excellent book, well drawn characters, with vivid details of the local scenes. Really engaging book. An author I’ve read before but must seek out more often 5*

As with all of Jenny's books this was a beautifully evocative read, conjuring up Bombay in the early 20th century in such as way as I felt I was actually there. Meet Me in Bombay is a poignant story of war, love, loss and a timely reminder of the important things in life. I love Jenny's writing and think this is perhaps her best yet!

A great historical romance set in India in the early part of the twentieth century.
Luke and Maddy meet in Bombay where she is visiting her parents. It is love at first sight and they are inseparable, deciding to marry after being together for a very short time.
However it is 1914 and the world is about to change for ever. How will it affect their lives and their hopes and dreams?
The early part of the book is set both in India and in a psychiatric hospital in England where a soldier, injured in the trenches, cannot remember who he is,, suffering from an extreme form of amnesia. Gradually these two strands of the plot come together.
This is a wonderful love story although it is full of separation and heart ache. I fell in love with Luke, myself and I was really hoping that Luke and Maddy would spend their lives together. This is not revealed until the final page so I avidly kept reading desperate for a happy ending.
This book is well researched as are all of this author’s books and I almost felt as if I was living in the oppressive heat of India and not in rainy England! Jenny Ashcroft has a talent for writing such vivid descriptions to capture the exotic settings for her books.
A compelling read which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my arc in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this book right from page 1. There were a few twists and turns right till the end, but I didn’t want it to end. Beautiful descriptions of the setting of the novel in Bombay - made me want to book a flight. Can’t wait for another book by Jenny Ashcroft.
