What an emotional rollercoaster this book was! Just before reading Reckless Girl I re-read the entire rest of the series, so I was totally in the zone to enjoy this even more than I would have done anyway.

I just love the characters in this series. Anna is a really strong, fierce and independent woman, and I’ve always liked the way her and Freddie’s relationship is written. They are not presented as a couple with all the power in one half, they are written as equals, with a great working relationship and real emotion between them romantically as well. Anna uses her emotions to motivate herself through difficult times, and it’s really powerful. I’ve always really liked Freddie as well, he’s a typical strong man, but very attuned to Anna’s emotions and needs. I love the way his morals are investigated at times, and there are clear do’s and don’t’s for him and his family.

The story in this book hits the reader deep. It plays on Anna’s deepest needs and wants, and it’s so emotional at times. It’s particularly interesting seeing how Freddie reacts to Anna. After the last book, where Anna was 100x more vulnerable and fragile, it’s great to see her coming back to her normal self, and how Freddie gives her the space she needs to do this. Their relationship isn’t perfect all the time, but that’s why I like them both so much, as it feels real.

The ending to this totally took me by surprise. It had sort of been building for a while, but I didn’t think Tallon would actually go there and do it! But this is why I like this series, is that it’s different and often unexpected. I would definitely recommend this book, and the whole series, as I love them.

We meet up again with Anna, Freddie, and Tanya. Because the book goes straight back to the end of the last book, it feels like meeting up with old friends.

Freddie being a proud leader of a crime gang hears that a Manchester gang are trying to muscle in on his territory. A large shipment of drugs are due to be bought in loaded in a caravan. The Ramone brothers being responsible. They have sent along two of their associates Drew and Jacko to distribute the goods among Londoners.

Freddie is determined to do everything in his power to halt them before they start, but with a past revelation coming up and knocking him for six and a bent copper who is out to bring the Tylers down, he is struggling.

Anna is still finding it hard to accept losing her unborn child and being told she will never be able to have children. It is making her depressed and on top of everything else worrying Freddie. He wants more than anything to make everything right. She wants to be there to support him.
Tanya has an old friend turn up out of the blue named Jules, but can she be trusted.

Emma Tallon has done it again with this brilliant book. The shocks, surprises, twists and turns make it compelling reading. Along with violence, sadness and loss this book will hold your concentration and reading juices till the end.

Thank you so much, NetGalley, for allowing me to read and review this exciting book. xx

Gripping Gritty and Brilliant

Emma Tallon has given us another fabulous Tyler installment in Reckless Girl! If you haven’t read this series and you love a good mob story crime thriller this is for you!
This one literally broke my heart a bit in parts as each book you get more and more invested with the Tyler’s and their family! Exceptionally brilliant and probably my favorite of the series so far!

There is something about this series that gets readers hooked from the first novel. Reckless Girl is the fifth novel in the Tyler family series, and it is as spellbinding as the previous novels. Anna Davis is finally getting over the trauma of losing a baby and the stress of the scenarios in the previous novel where she killed someone, when one of Tanya’s friends from her previous life shows up at the club. Tanya welcomes her old friend and introduces her to Anna. The problem is that this old friend has an alternate agenda and confronts Freddy with the news that he has a son who is seven years old. Freddy, of course, knows nothing about this and learns that his old mentor, Vince, previously paid the girl a large sum of money to have an abortion and disappear. Obviously she didn’t do this and has come back to try to get more money out of Freddy. Freddy has other problems, too, as a gang from Manchester is trying to take over his territory. There are also police detectives who are watching Freddy closely and he is in danger of being arrested.

The novels in this series are well-written, and because most of us don’t really know what goes on with the British mafia, are believable. The characters are well-developed, and in each novel, become more and more like old friends. The difference between the characters in most novels and in Tallon’s novels, is that the main characters that are loved, are powerful players in the underground, and we love them anyway and want them to succeed in their pursuits. For instance, Anna and Tanya are looking to open an “after hours club” which is actually a whore house, and they are very excited to find a perfect location. In most novels, it would be the “bad guys” who would do this, but the heroes in these books find nothing wrong with it.

Hopefully, Tallon is working hard on the next novel because this one ends with a cliffhanger and it is very difficult to wait for the next installment. It is highly recommended that readers start with the first in the series; they are all fabulous and leave readers wanting more.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

Rating 3.5/5*

This book is the fifth book in the series about Anna and Freddie and I haven't read any of the previous books. I actually think I'd have enjoyed it more had I done so as I initially struggled to keep track of just who is who, though I had sorted that out before too long! It is a crime thriller with gang land rivalry, threats of turf wars, family drama and police investigations - complete with an insider warning Freddie about just what the police have planned.

There are plenty of twists and turns with surprise revelations as the story progresses. It is an emotive read as it includes the turmoil of miscarriage, feelings of betrayal, an unknown son as well as the drama of the underworld, with its sense of menace and violence. This story is a thrilling rollercoaster ride, fast paced, intriguing and full or surprises. This is also an ongoing family saga, one that has yet to be concluded and the ending to this book leaves readers on a cliff hanger, ready for the next installment asap!

Many thanks to Bookouture for gifting me a copy of this book via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.

This is book #5 in the Anna Davis series. Whilst I would recommend reading the books in series order, this book can be read as a standalone story. I’ve been reading the books featuring Anna Davis and Freddie Tyler since the beginning and the series has got better with each book that has come out. I love the characters of Anna and Freddie and think they do make the perfect couple. Anna is a tough, sassy and smart woman who has a fine business head on her. Freddie is a tough London gangster, and together with his brother Paul reminds me of stories of the real-life Kray twins!

The storyline in this book picks up from the end of book #4, Fierce Girl. Anna and Freddie are trying to get their lives back on track after the devastation which happened in the previous book. Whilst Freddie throws himself into his work sorting out problems with his drug distribution, Anna seems to find it more difficult to move on. The gangster storyline, as usual, is fierce, gruesome and hard-hitting. Whilst some parts are harder to read than others, the London gangland tales are gripping and strangely exciting!

The personal side of the story for both Anna and Freddie brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasion and I really felt for all the characters involved. The past that comes back to haunt Freddie is particularly upsetting and I shall be really interested to see how this storyline plays out in the next book. It’s not the only storyline that I shall look forward to being carried on though, and when you’ve read the book you know exactly what I mean!!

This is certainly one thrilling gangland read, full of violence, drugs and killings. It is quite brutal and there are some graphic descriptions and a lot of bad language, so if that’s not your thing then it may be best avoided. If you love a book which will keep you on the edge of your seat whilst reading it through your fingers, but surprisingly pulling on your heart-strings as well, then I whole-heartedly recommend it! Fabulous addition to a fantastic series – in fact, probably the best book so far! Loved it and literally can’t wait for the next book!!

With an OMG opening I found myself racing through the pages to find out what the prologue was all about, after the author leaving me with my jaw hanging!

Then are transported to Amalfi Coast where we catch up with with Anna and Freddie who are have a break enjoying themselves. But this doesn’t last for long when things take turn with some shocking events.

We follow the couple on a roller coaster ride with a story that is jam packed with action, terror and also emotion. Then just when things couldn’t get any worse the story rams up a step and the author weaves that jaw dropping opening into the mix! OH MY DAYS…..then just when I thought things had calmed down, it gets even better when the author throws in an OMG twist at the end. Which has totally left me shell shocked to say the least. Now I have to wait until the next book…..

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this book. I have to say that Freddie stole the show for me! We all love a bad boy right?! Freddie is just that, but in this story we also see a more sensitive side to him. Making me love him even more now.

This is a must read for fans of Martina Cole and Kimberly Chambers I cannot recommend it enough giving it all the stars.

This series just gets better and better with each book and Reckless is no exception. It is always a pleasure to sit down and read one of Emma Tallon's books. She has a real gift for writing this type of book.

The story revolves around Anna, Freddie and their best friend Tanya. Following the events in the previous book, Anna is struggling to deal with her feelings. When a bombshell is dropped on her, she doesn't take it very well (understandably). Anna and Tanya are embarking on a new business venture, which is helping to keep Anna occupied. I love the relationship the trio have, they are so close, even though life throws difficulties at them, they have each others backs and look out for each other.

Tanya is fiercely loyal to her friends. Even though she once had a relationship of sorts with Freddie, she looks at them both as family. They have helped her through difficult times and she trusts them with her life.
She knows she has to step up and help Anna through her current situation, whether that's with a shoulder to cry on or a few glasses of champagne!

Freddie is having problems, both in his personal and professional life. Freddie has a tough exterior, but scratch beneath the surface and he has a massive heart. He loves Anna completely and will do anything in his power to make her happy. He won't let anyone get away with hurting her. Can he hold it all together when people let him down?

Reckless Girl is a superb read, and a wonderful addition to this series. Emma Tallon has written brilliant characters, an excellent plot and a book that I couldn't stop reading. I am eagerly waiting to see what she has to offer next.

I have been a fan of Emma's work for a fair while now. In fact ever since I had the good fortune to pick up the author's first book what feels like ages ago. Since I discovered how flipping fantastic an author Emma is, I have devoured (well not literally because that would be a bit weird) each and every book that she has released. All of her books have been top notch reads. Emma's latest book was released on 8th October 2019. Bloody hell it is another top notch read, which I thoroughly enjoyed but more about that in a bit.
I can't honestly say that I took to the characters of Freddie Tyler and Anna Davis at all. Being brutally honest they both scared the poop out of me but then I am a big wimp. Freddie is the head of a firm, who are having problems with their business interest thanks to a new firm trying to encroach on their patch. Freddie has trouble on three fronts- (1) the business, (2) a woman from his past turns up on his doorstep and he really wishes that she hadn't, (3) His relationship is under increasing strain as a result of the woman from his past and (4) the police are sniffing around his business interests and there is a detective in particular that is desperate to bring Freddie down. So you see, Freddie has the poop flying at him from all directions. On the other hand I did feel for Anna. She has been with Freddie for a while and they had wanted to start a family together. She fell pregnant but sadly lost the baby a matter of weeks into the pregnancy following a traumatic event. Following their sad loss, Anna doesn't really seem all that keen in trying for a baby because she has been told that she is unlikely to carry a baby to term. On the other hand Freddie is chomping at the bit to start a family. Freddie starts to have even more problems in his relationship with Anna and there is a danger that their relationship could crumple under the pressure of the new firm encroaching on his turf, the woman from his past and the police attention. Does Freddie find a way to deal with his problems? Will Freddie and Anna's relationship withstand the strain it is placed under? Well for the answers to those questions and more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
Oh my frigging word, 'Reckless Girl' was one hell of a read that was impossible to put down. From the moment I first picked the book up until the moment I closed the back cover, I was completely under the book's spell and I didn't look up once. I was blown away by the strong characters, the exciting storylines and the quality of the writing. This was an unputdownable, page turner of a book even if it did scare the poop out of me on occasion. I had to keep reading to find out how the story concluded and how the conclusion impacted on Freddie and Anna. The pages turned increasingly quickly as my desperation to find out how the story ended steadily grew and grew. At one point the pages were turning that quickly that it was almost as if they were turning themselves. I reached the end of the story what felt like minutes later but in reality was a matter of hours. I was so focused on the story and the characters that I lost all track of time and I ignored everything that was going on around me. In fact, the world could have ended and I would have known anything about it.
'Reckless Girl' is brilliantly written but then so are all of Emma's books. She certainly knows how to grab your attention from the start and once she has your attention she refuses to let it go. She almost compels you to keep reading by keeping the story plausible, the characters interesting and by keeping the twists and turns coming. If the real criminal underworld is anything like Emma describes then thank goodness I am nowhere near it. I am a wimp and easily scared. Emma writes so convincingly and uses such vivid descriptions that I felt as though I was part of the story myself.
Reading 'Reckless Girl' felt very much like being on one hell of a scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with more twists and turns than you would find on a 'Snakes & Ladders' board. For me the story hits the ground running and maintains the pace throughout. Just when you thought that you could gather your thoughts and catch your breath then off the action would go again. Whilst I was reading this book I almost had to read through my fingers as I feared what was going to happen next or what was waiting for me over the page. I then gave myself a mental kick up the bottom because I realised that if I wanted to find out how the story concluded then of course I had to keep reading.
In short, 'Reckless Girl' is one hell of a brilliantly written read. I was totally gripped by the story and on the edge of my seat throughout the book. I would definitely recommend Emma and her books to other readers. I will definitely be reading more of Emma's work in the future. Here's hoping that we don't have too long to wait. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Wow I’ve read every book in this series and each one just gets better and better. I love the Tyler’s and the only criticism I’ve got for Emma is that each time she brings another book out I can’t put it down until I’ve read it. This book has been left on a cliffhanger leaving us poor readers waiting for more. All I can say is Emma keep writing. If this is a genre you like I can highly recommend this whole series.

Here's an author that only gets better with every book...........Her Books are Just brilliant and this last instalment kept me up all night!!!! Reckless Girl by Emma Tallon is the fifth book in the Tylers, Annie and Tanya Series OMG what a book this was.
One thing I love about Emma's books is you can read her books either as a stand alone or as a series......But I highly recommend if you read this books as a stand alone. Please go back and read the rest. You will not be disappointed.

So much happens in the brilliant book..........Anna is still trying to come to terms miscarrying her's and Freddie's baby from the last book. However, they are both slowly coming to terms with their loss and rebuilding their lives together.
Anna throws herself into her work. Her clubs with Tanya are doing well and they are opening a new business venture together. Freddie hears there's a big drugs gang from Manchester trying muscling in on Tyler's turf on his home turf. Freddie and his brother Paul work closely together and seize's the big drugs delivery that was being delivered. However, by doing this, this will only causes big problems for the both of them. Close family members and people around them will get hurt.

Freddie then finds out the Police are getting closer to take him down!!!! (NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!)

A very old friend from way back of Tanya's comes back on the scene. They both use to work together and she has found an easy way to get money...........and she has nothing to loose but Freddie has!
OMG I love this new character Tanya's friend brings with her and I can see a great part for them in future these books in this series.

The ending of this book was Brilliant and It took my breathe away!

Will Freddie get out of this one?

This was so hard to write this review and not give too much away. However, I highly recommend Emma's books.

Plus, are the best series of books I have read in a long time.............

Can't wait to read book 6 in this series......No rush Emma!

Big Thank You to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced reader’s copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

#5 in the Anna and Freddie series. Yes it can be read as a stand-alone, but you are missing out on the backstory of these incredible characters.

Well life seems to have settled down for Anna and Freddie, but we know that’s not going to last long. Soon things start to go awry…..

Anna is slowly coming to terms with the loss of their baby, and now Freddie has a new gang appear, who are intending on taking over his many criminal businesses. It’s taken him a long time to build his reputation and he has no intention of losing it.

As usual, Anna and her friend, Tanya are starting yet another new business and keeping an eye on all their comings and goings is a determined detective.

Anna and Freddie are not the most honest or law abiding citizens, but it’s the relationships they hold that make the story so compelling. Will their relationship survive the new revelations? Will the police finally catch up with Freddie? A completely engaging crime thriller.

Thank you to Bookouture, the author and NetGalley for a free copy of the ebook. This is my honest, unbiased review.

Finally. Finally. Life is back on track for Anna Davis and Freddie Tyler. Well, that is as it appears. Even though the danger and threats they have been facing are gone, there are other things that are hitting the couple.

For starters, Anna is finally accepting the loss of their baby and is ready to move on with life. All Freddie wants is for Anna to be happy, even if it means they will never have children together.

On a business level, Freddie has competition with a new gang trying to take over his business and is interfering with his drug trade. Freddie is proud to be a mob boss and has gained major respect. With Anna busy working on a new business venture with best friend Tanya, Freddie is determined to remove the new gang. If that is not bad enough, there is a detective willing to do anything to bring Freddie and his family down.

Wait...things were going great...but it gets worse. Freddie learns something about his past that will throw a wrench into everything - his future, no doubt. But what is worse, this really affects his relationship with Anna and everything they have worked towards just might come to a crashing halt.

This fifth book in the Anna Davis series is incredibly thrilling! It touches on so many things. Of course, the fact that this is a crime family will hardly escape anyone's notice. The loss of their child and the devastating blow Anna copes with was truly emotional. Then, with the sudden change in Freddie's life, it came to no surprise, although truly heartbreaking, that their relationship might not survive. Add in the battle between the rival gang and the police and we have a well-rounded book that certainly kept me captivated from the very first page.

As much as I love, love, yes, LOVE this series, I am a bit unsettled by the cliffhanger! No, it does not detract from my rating. Not at all. However, what it has done is to keep me thinking about Freddie, Anna, Tanya, Paul and everyone else. Kudos to Emma Tallon. I am eager for whatever is coming next.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

What a fabulous weekend I had! I spent it with ... Freddie Tyler! ;) :)

It's always such a treat reading the next part in this utterly, totally bewitching series.

Freddie is ruthless toward his enemies, but he has a heart of gold for those who he considers family.

A lot of shocking things happen in this story and one moment my heart missed a beat (or two), the next it felt like a horse competing in a steeple chase.

The story is rough, sometimes rather juicy ;) and heartbreaking, but other scenes fill your heart with love.

Every time I think this is top of the bill and every time the author manages to surprise me and rise above herself.

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! This book deserves about 5 million stars at least. :)

Thank you, Emma Tallon and Bookouture (via Netgalley)

I’m completely blown away by this book... where do I start?
So much happens in this book and I really don’t want to spoil it as you need to experience it too.
Anna is still struggling to cope after the miscarriage, but her and Freddie are slowly rebuilding their lives.
That is until a face from the past makes an appearance and their lives will never be the same again.
There’s also a gang from up North that are trying to muscle in on Freddie’s patch, and obviously he won’t stand for this.
Freddie and Paul take action against them and think they have it all in hand but events take a shocking turn.
This is a real rollercoaster of a read and I absolutely loved it.
I don’t know how I’ll manage to wait for the next one though...
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
