A gothic tale of mishaps, romance, and even some satire awaits her with this story. It might not be a Jane Austen story you see or hear of as often as many of her other stories, but it is still one of her better classic tales. It is a true Jane Austen Coming of Age story. This book is designed for younger readers, but any Jane Austen fan will enjoy it or someone being introduced to Jane Austen is encouraged to pick up this book. It is a wonderful option with great illustrations and it has a true to Austen feel.

It was actually very enjoyable.
Not my favorite, but enjoyable nontheless.
I really liked Cathrine, she is no Lizzie but likable.

I'd like to start by clarifying that I do understand that this is intended to be satire. I am aware that it is poking fun at books with incredibly annoying characters who are unjustly dramatic about minor issues.

However, being aware of this didn't change the fact that I've just had to endure a book about incredibly annoying characters who are unjustly dramatic about minor issues. I get what they were going for, but unfortunately, I couldn't stop myself getting bored. There were moments that made me laugh, and I particularly enjoyed moments of dialogue, but the overarching feeling I experienced was a desire to be finished reading so I could tick it off the list and move on.

I've realised that this just isn't the kind of classic I enjoy, and am content to admit that my low rating is definitely more of a me-thing than an Austen-thing.

What can I say? One of my favorites. This book should be more popular than it is.

While I’m not the avid Austen reader, this was the first of her novels I’ve read that I related to her protagonist, which always makes the reading experience enjoyable. The missing stars comes from feeling that the book might’ve been a few more chapters than needed but doesn’t take away from the delightful experience I had traveling Catherine’s mind in Austen’s world.

17 year old Catherine Moreland enters into society with a splash at Bath, attracting the attentions of both Henry Tilney and John Thorpe. While Mr. Thorpe has a dashing carriage and set of horses and likes to go riding everywhere, Mr. Tilney likes reading the same kind of gothic romances that Miss Moreland does, and moreover lives at that most romantic sounding address - Northanger Abbey!

Jane Austen is in her element as she slyly puts her tongue firmly in her cheek in this sendup of gothic romance. It is the first of her six great novels that she sold, but the last to be published. For some reason a publisher paid good money for the book, then did not print it - he had to be sued to return the manuscript!

This handsome Kindle edition from Wisehouse Classics has beautiful clear typography and a clickable table of contents. It is an elegant addition to your reading collection and will bring hours of pleasure.

Such a lovely cover! I was hoping there would be more illustrations inside, but sadly that's not the case. I think Jane Austen fans would love to have a copy of this newest edition of her classic novel with this new very pretty cover.

I had to read this book for a high school paper, and back then I remember not really liking the book. Now that I have the opportunity to re-read the book I thought I’d take the chance to do so, and I am really glad I did. This is now the first Jane Austen book that I have read completely— from start to finish. This book has romance, drama and lots of humour but partnered with Austen’s almost romanticism writing style somehow works really well together. I think I’ll start recommending “Northanger Abbey” to my friends now.

4 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and Sweet Cherry Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read and review this copy of ‘Northanger Abbey’ by Jane Austen

Northanger Abbey is classic and and any Austenite will love the artwork on this edition. Follow the story of heroine Catherine Moreland as she looks for love and adventure and manages the triumphs and pitfalls of growing up.

This edition of a well loved and yet underappreciated Jane Austen Classic, is fabulous! I cannot even tell how many times I have re-read this beloved classic from my favorite Jane Austen. I love this edition cover and I believe that this will bring in a lot of the young adults and young readers to this story of our lovely heroine, Catherine Morland.

Adapted from one of the most underrated books of Jane Austen's, this book tells the same story that we have come to grow and love over time, but in a a new, original, youth-appealing format. Catherine is a forever loving fan of the gothic genre books, so much that she starts to believe they reflect the way the real life works. You can almost imagine all the problems and mischiefs that come out of this. The illustrations were so outstanding, I caught myself coming back to see some of them again. I truly recommend this to anyone who wants to discover Jane Austen in a very appealing format, as well as any forever Austen stans.

I am an ardent fan of Pride and Prejudice and Jane Austen. So had to pick this one up.

This tells us the story of Catherine Morland. She is a quiet girl who loved reading. Although se has read of many adventures, she didn't have any experiences of adventures of her own. When her mother's friends agree to take her to Bath, she is hoping to be part of some adventures. As the story progresses, there are romances, family drama and betrayals.

This is quite easy and the story is conveyed in an understandable way targeting children. Illustrations were also good, and can also give an idea of the dressing etc. used in that period of time. But from a YA PoV this will be gone in a breeze and wouldn't get the whole essence of a Jane Austen novel
