I am a Jane Austen fan, have read the books, seen some of the movies, but they are not books I find easy to read and they can take a lot of effort to sift through the language.
This version is simple, straightforward and highly enjoyable. It basically takes the original story and simplifies it for a younger reader, exposing them to the brilliance of the story and Jane Austen, without overwhelming them with the language of her era.
I have seen on the publishers website that there are a set of these that can be bought and read. I think it is a superb book and written by a superb author. I have read a few of Katherine Woodfine’s previous books and admire her style. With this book, she has maintained her style while adapting to the original story.
I shall certainly be buying these for home in the hopes of encouraging my children to read the Classics in a new way. I shall also be recommending these for my schools.
I love the story of Lizzie Bennet and Mr Darcy and I admit to enjoying the story just as much, and perhaps understanding it a bit better as well.

I think it is brilliant!
