I could not possibly love this book more! It has everything children (and adults!) love in a story. This is a tale about McDuff, an orphaned puppy who finds the perfect home after a few adventures. It's the perfect bedtime or read-aloud for any teacher or parent. I am so happy there are still some picture books like this one still being published. I anxiously await the day when I can order a copy for myself to share with children I love.

What an adorable book! My daughter picked this one out because of the dog on the front. McGruff escapes the dog catcher and goes in search of a place to live. He is turned away several times until someone finds him. A great story of a dog without a home and a home without a dog.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

One day, I had a very pleasant surprise, when during bedtime, my little one told me the story of biscuit goes to school. Now what biscuits got to do with dogs?
Now McDuff too is named after McDuff shortbread cookies. McDuff is a cute little dog, who is growled at, hissed at and watched by owls in the garden and finally let into Lucy & Fred's house.

McDuff Moves In is such a cute and yet heart-warming story. I read this book to my 4 year old daughter , 2 year old granddaughter and my 1 year old granddaughter. They all loved it and asked me to re read it again and again. The illustrations are bright and beautiful. The kids loved looking at all the pictures throughout the book. Even my husband and i loved this story about the small unwanted , unloved dog looking for food and a home. Highly recommend !!!!

I loved reading this book to my daughter when she was young, so I'm glad it has been reissued with a lovely new cover.

I love the illustrations, and the couple who adopt McDuff, but since my mother grew up in the Depression, I wonder about this well to do couple, with a nice car, and a nice house. What did they do for a living? Were they both working for the movie industry?

What seems odd that the two things that are included new, are a recipe for rice pudding, and the information on adoption. The odd thing, or perhaps the sad thing, is that it calls for vanilla beans, which are now very, very expensive, last time I looked. Several dollars a pod. I used to make vanilla ice cream, and stopped, when the price shot up.

Which is neither here nor there, as to whether you would enjoy this book.

This beautifully illustrated picture book comes to us from Rosemary Wells, the author of the much-loved Max and Ruby books. This book was first published in 1997—so the story itself isn’t new. This new edition is published by Gryphon Press, a publisher dedicated to producing books for children about animals (thegryphonpress.com). The cover of this book will captivate readers immediately—a sweet little dog in the rain, sitting on a welcome mat and facing the door, just waiting to be part of the home. The story begins with a dog—a West Highland White Terrier—escaping a truck headed for the pound. The dog travels around the neighborhood, door to door to door, but is not welcomed. Finally, he finds his way to #7 Elm Road (the smell of rice pudding and sausages pulls him in) and he is welcomed by Lucy and Fred. Briefly, the couple considers returning the dog to the pound, but he’s already wriggled into their hearts and they decide to adopt him, instead. The story and illustrations are fantastic complements to one another. Five stars!

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Amazing illustrations and a heartwarming story for kids. I absolutely adored the illustrations, they did not follow the soulless new styles, they are classy and cozy. The story follows a dog looking for a home and family. You could really see the emotions on the illustrations. Fantastic edition!

I really liked this book! It's a fun, light-hearted read about how McDuff finds his forever home. He's searching high and far until he finds the people and home that accept him. The illustrations were beautiful and complemented the story wonderfully. I liked the vanilla pudding recipe at the end too! This will be a timeless classic in terms of children's picture books!

What a classic story! A pup just wants to find a home! McDuff Moves In is Homeward Bound meets Pleasantville (with Reese Witherspoon) for kids. The illustrations are so gorgeous and detailed and the story is very heartwarming.
***SPOILER*** My favorite part was the man holding McDuff's paw when they're going to sleep!

Thank you, Gryphon Press, for providing a review copy! It's a gem! 🐶💕

McDuff Moves In is wonderful and heart-warming story. It captures beautifully the nature of these hearty and stubborn little terriers and yearning for home, which can be found when least expected. Absolutely delightful storyline with gorgeous artwork - I'll definitely read it to my niece and recommend it to everyone who's looking for a stunning picture book that has a lot of meaning.

This shows that some stories are such important that they will stand the test of time.

The illustrations in this book are fantastic; the colors are so vivid and everything "pops". This is a cute story that most kids would enjoy having read to them at night.

This is a beautifully illustrated book. You can’t help but fall in love with the little white dog ‘McDuff’.
The underlying message is there’s a home for everyone. And if there’s a place in your home re home an unwanted pet.
Let’s hope there will be more McDuff stories in the pipeline.

I read this book to my 5year old daughter and she loved it! Her favorite part was “how they helped the dog because helping people is nice.” The illustrations are beautiful! I highly recommend this book for kids. It has a great message.

What a fun book! Great illustrations and writing about a pound dog who wanders town, then finds owners who will love him. My 4 year old daughter loved it!

This is a charming little tale with that “retro”
Feel. The illustrations are lovely and McDuff is SO cute. I wonder about them feeing him rice pudding and sausages, not really a great example as you might find your kiddos trying to feed your own pups this too.

I knew before I even opened the cover, this book would get a 5 star. Rosemary Wells is a staple in my school library, and McDuff's Christmas goes out continually the month of December. This beautifully illustrated picture book will not sit on my shelves for long. My friend has a Westie, and Susan Jeffers has caught the spirit of the Westie perfectly. I love the historical aspect of the book. The recipe for rice pudding is a lovely added touch. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
