I loved the idea of this book. What girl didn't have a celebrity crush as a teenager??? Such a fun idea of being able to connect to them once you're older. I mean, the story still had that wonderful, ridiculous insta-love aspect, but it was sweet.

That being said, there were a few things that bothered me. 1) this was clearly never read by an American before it was published. There were so many things that Jesse supposedly said to his brothers or to Cassie that AN AMERICAN WOULD NEVER SAY. We don't use the word "whilst" or talk about things like "having a proper snack". It made the characters wholly unbelievable. 2) There was no real resolution with Jesse and his family or even between Holly and Jesse/ Cassie. It felt unfinished. 3) Cassie was a pretty shitty friend. It made the latter part of the book not very fun to read.

I liked that this book had a fun and different premise from any romance novel I've read before. But there were too many issues for me to love it.

Quick Summary:
Cassie wonders what happened to the bass player a band she was obsessed with in high school. She looks him up on Facebook and they strike up a conversation.

Genre:
Contemporary Romance

You will enjoy this book if:
You’ve ever wondered what it would be like meeting your old celebrity crush!

Do not read this book if:
You can’t handle Call Me Maybe being stuck in your head every time you pick up the book 🤣

My Thoughts:
This book is a GEM! The characters are likable, the inevitable conflict is realistic (not always the case in romance) and the feelings are relatable. I adored this book!

I loved this book! It was fast paced, with a good storyline and great characters. Definitely a fun read.
Many thanks to Hera Books and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was a cute quick light read. The story was a mix of several popular tropes, but it was done pretty well in a way most readers can easily relate to. The two main characters were interesting and the book revealed flaws in their character leading to growth along the plot line. The author tried to write an American character which was not edited as well as it might have been making that character seem less realistic. Additionally, there was quite a bit of coarse language. I appreciated the more closed door romance scenes, though. Overall, a good summer or winter vacation read that I'd recommend to lovers of predictable happy endings.

4☆ A Fun, Flirty, Rom Com

Call Me, Maybe is a Fun story about finding the One, even if the One happens to be your Teenage Boy Band Crush!

We all know what it's like to be a Teenager and Fancy someone in a band. My crush was Robbie Williams from Take That 🙊 (ok so it still is 😏)
But what would happen if you come across that Teen Crush on Facebook?

Would you send a Friend Request?

Well that's what Carrie did!.....and guess what..... He Accepted!

Carrie is over joyed with the fact Jesse Franklin her heartthrob pressed Yes!

What follows is a roller coaster of emotions, as Carrie finds out if a long distance romance is possible, and is Jesse all his cracked up to be now her Teenage self is all grown up!

Oh and in the mean time Carrie is supposed to be helping her Best Friend Rachel organise her wedding. But is Carrie so caught up in a whirlwind that she's failing to see how much she's neglecting Rachel.

Carrie isn't particularly likeable, she's a bit self obsessed, and although I do get why she's being like it as she's met the man literally of her dreams but it's not fair on those around her, in Carrie's case her best friend Rachel!
( I used to have a best friend who neglected our friendship when she met a boyfriend)

Call Me, Maybe is a Fun, Flirty, Rom Com.
It's a story about Second Chances, Friendship, Secrets, Drama and Falling In Love.
It's a quirky story and anyone who has had a crush on someone famous (a groupie) would really enjoy this take on a Rom Com.
Oh and I have to mention how much I Adore the fresh, Funky Book Cover.
Overall a fab Read, I can't wait to read more from Stephie Chapman.

Thank you to Rachel Random Resources for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I received a digital advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a cute book. I think most women, especially from the boyband era, would love for this to happen to them. I know if it were me, I would have no issues being Mrs. Taylor Hanson right now.

I loved how light and fluffy this book was. It was such an easy and adorable read. I felt Cassie was super relatable and easy to connect to. It annoyed me that she was a bit self absorbed about her relationship. Everything was about them. I really would have liked to know more about the other characters too.

Regardless, i was a giggly mess through this whole book. It had me reliving all of my love for boy bands. I wish the book had been longer, it would have made for a better story. The ending kinda just creeps up on you. It does give me hope that there might be a book two!

This is one of those romantic reads you just have to get your hands on! While you are reading, I’m going to go send Taylor Hanson a friend request.. Wish me luck!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to review this title.

Two of my favourite genres are Rock Star romances and British chick-lit, and this book straddles the two perfectly. Jesse is a swoon-worthy brooding ex-pop star, with bonus points for still being a musician. Cassie is a romantic, a young woman unlucky in love, with enough pluck to keep her interesting as a character. The story of these two people is sweet and romantic, with enough drama and laughter to make it a really enjoyable read. I'll definitely be looking out for more from this author.

A fun rom-com, this book had me smiling in parts.

Finding the One, even if he was a crush from a Boy Band in the teens. Send the friend request, get it accepted and watch the bidding romance. Carrie did all that and then found herself carrying on a long distance romance, neglecting the people in her life including best friend Rachel.

My first book by this author, I loved parts of it, though I didn't care much about the main character, found her to be too self obsessed in her love life. The writing was smooth and warm. The other characters were fun. Romance had a fairy tale vibe to it.

Overall, it was a cute quirky read

The moment this book dropped into my inbox, I wanted it! I mean let's start with that Title. I love it, so simple and I feel like I should listen to the song while writing this.Plus I can practically hear Carly Rae Jepson singing it in my head. Then you move onto the blurb, it sounded amazing and a little bit like a dream (one I have had myself.)

This book is brilliantly written which makes it easy to read and by that I mean I was easily reading 10 Chapters a Day! Until I got to Chapter 37 then I just finished it. It's so easy to get sucked into Cassie and Jesse's world, to the point where those chapters just fly by!

It feels like the book has everything, it's easy to relate to so you can imagine putting yourself and your boy band crush in the same places. By no means is this book predictable, I mean I found some really juicy scenes that made me want to read them again. This book somehow managed to get me so addicted that my emotions got involved, I won't say which ones because spoilers are no fun.

So let's talk a little bit about the characters Jesse and Cassie, they are soo perfect for each other! So Jesse was the kinda mysterious childhood crush and he gives you an insight into what being in a young boy band is like. Cassie is pretty much your typical everyday girl, an amazing set of friends, a job she enjoys but doesn't take up her entire life. The best thing is throughout this book you switch from Jesse's point of view to Cassie's, which I found really insightful.

Overall I adored this book! It laid out in my opinion every girl's secret fantasy evolving their favorite band. It was quirky, amazing and easy to devour.

An interesting concept that, let's be honest, we've all imagined ourselves in! Call Me Maybe is an enjoyable, well paced read. One of my favourite aspects of this story was that the two leads weren't perfect, they had vulnerabilities and flaws that made them feel more realistic to the reader. I enjoyed that the story was told from both points of view, as I like to get both characters views when a relationship is developing. A light-hearted and sweet story that does exactly what is says on the tin.

I really enjoyed this read. The chemistry between the love interest felt real and genuine which I find an author can either nail or it falls flat. Cassie was very enjoyable and spunky and Jesse was so down to earth and damaged. Their past history really gave the story an added edge that I often don't see in the groupie/rockstar books.

I loved this book!

I’ve read a few lacklustre books recently and this was just what I needed. Funny, romantic, realistic and really enjoyable.

I liked Cassie’s character and loved the way she was written...I think most of us still have space in our hearts from our first pop star crush!!

I will look for further work from this author. I’d recommend this book to fans of Mhairi Mcfarlane, Jo Watson and Sophie Kinsella.

Thank you for the advanced copy of this book :)

Call Me Maybe is the perfect rom-com read. It has a great mix of comedy, romance, light drama, and cute and interesting characters. Plus what girl doesn’t dream of the chance to date her (semi) celebrity crush?

Can’ wait to read more from Stephie Chapman. I would recommend this book, especially to all my boy band crazy girls. It happened to Cassie and it can happen to you too!!

"Jesse Franklin has accepted your Friend Request."

Cassie's teenage crush just accepted her friend request on Facebook. Will Jesse live up to her expectations or is she setting herself up for failure with a long-distance romance?

Jesse wasn't looking for a relationship, but when he received the friend request from an unknown British girl halfway around the world, his curiosity got the better of him. Will she prove to be someone who he could trust?

I enjoyed the well-developed characters in this story from Cassie's feisty and vulnerable emotions toward a teenage crush she, unfortunately, put on a pedestal, to Jesse's willingness to open up to Cassie about his past except for one important detail. From Cassie's confidante and frazzled friend Rachel who is trying to plan a wedding, to Jesse's brothers Travis and Brendan who only want the best for their brother after his last unfortunate relationship.  The family and friendship dynamics are realistic with their ups and downs, past issues, and forgiving natures, though I would have liked to have learned a bit more about Jesse's estranged parents and brother Adam.

The story is an enjoyable fast-paced read with a unique long-distance romance element. A great read for those who ever had a secret crush on someone in the past and wanted to send a friend request on social media.

Thank you to Ms. Chapman for giving me the opportunity to review this book with no expectation of a positive review.

This Was such a sweet , Cute , delightful , warm and romantic Read .

I finished it in one week , Usually it doesn’t take me that much reading a romance book , but I really liked the heroine 😛 .

Almost all the characters are good , I didn’t like the hero that much , but his character wasn’t bad too . I don’t like the romantic trope that has been used , But Chapman has a way with words , She made me enjoy it , Which is really surprising !

I Liked Stephie Chapman Writing style , it was the perfect fit for the story and the romance genre , in general .
Witty , Engaging , heart-warming and sweet . If you like all that in your books , then this one is for you .

An entertaining read.

The story of Jesse and Cassie. He was in a pop band when she was growing up and ws her favourite in the group. Years later she finds him on facebook and sends him a friend request. When he accepts they start chatting and soon meet up. There is a connection between them, but they live in different countries, so can they have a future together? Also, one of them is keeping secrets which could change everything.

I liked how the story is told from both of their points of view. and the range of characters they have as friends and siblings.

As someone who was ahuge Hanson fan, and then a huge fan of The Moffatts (more Franko-like than Hanson was!), I thoroughly enjoyed this little bit of fantasy.

I loved that Jesse was made to be vulnerable and a bit awkward at times. It made him more real, and the quick and strong feelings were that much more easily believed. Cassie was also a great character, though I will say that I thought she overreacted quite a bit to the conflict, and could have stood to have been a bit more considerate of everyone else around her (including ber best friend).

I do also have to admit that this struck an extra chord with me because I met my husband online and our relationship started with several hours-long chats, before progressing quickly, much like Cassie and Jesse. So, not a whole lot of disbelief-suspending necessary there!

Fun, light-hearted, and sweet story!

And now, excuse me while I go facebook-stalk Scott, Clint, Bob and Dave. ;)

This was a really sweet and really fun story! As someone who was a huge boy band fan, still is, haven't missed a New Kids on the Block concert since they've come back, this is kind of a dream come true type of story. I really enjoyed the way the two of them just kind of clicked. How even though he was once her idol, for the most part, when they were together, he became just a normal guy that was perfect for her. I did have some of my usual issues with stories like these, the whole keeping secrets that really didn't need to be kept and then only caused drama when they came out. Although I feel like Cassie may have overreacted a bit, I still got her feelings. And when someone kind of pointed out to her what was causing her to do that, even I had an "a-ha!" moment like she did. So it was nice that author didn't keep to what the usual reasons might have been. Another thing that I wondered about was how easily Jessie overlooked some of her British slang, words that aren't often used even on the crossover shows we see, like when they used the word "mooched" and he didn't have to ask what she meant? Also, it's basically a fade away into black for the sexy scenes, which isn't my preference, but I know some people prefer that. Anyway, there were good characters, a great story, and a great HEA.
