Ivy has a “habit” of picking up men for a one night stand. She is trying to escape her dreary life with men. But that soon turns into a devastating thing. Something goes terribly wrong. She wakes up with a dead man in the bed and does not remember what happened. Did she do it?

This book is very good. A mystery/thriller that will keep you wanting more. Told from different timelines by multiple characters, you will get the feel of why things happen. There are some very likable characters and some you probably won’t like. It’s a very good edge of your seat book with lots of thrills involved.

I really liked this book and it’s the first for me by this author. Well done.

Thank you to #NetGalley, #CarissaAnnLynch, #HarperCollinsUK. This is my own true review.

4.5/5 stars and a high recommendation.

This book is told from multiple points in time which gets a little confusing at times but once it's wrapped up you see why they were necessary.

It took awhile to hold my interest but I was invested and needed to know who/what/why! I enjoyed the book overall.

When single mum Ivy wakes up to a complete stranger lying next to her, she knows her one-night stand hook-ups have to stop. The encounters mean nothing to Ivy, but for just a short time, they make her forget her own terrible life.
A murder she can’t remember
But then Ivy discovers the stranger in her bed has been stabbed to death, and she is covered in his blood…except Ivy has no recollection of bringing this man home. Could she have killed him?
As she tries to piece together what happened last night, Ivy’s own past returns to haunt her. And secrets can’t stay hidden forever…
This book was set in three timelines. Schooldays, before the stabbing and after the stabbing. I am used to reading books with such timelines, but I can see why the book would become confusing at times.
However, this book was a great mystery book and I enjoyed reading this.

Review for 'The One Night Stand' by Carissa Ann Lynch

Read and reviewed via NetGalley for One More Chapter and Harper Collins publishers

This is the first book that I have read by this author. I would be definitely read more by her.

Firstly I'd like to say that this is the first fiction I've ever read that mentions TTTS (twin to twin transfusion syndrome) which impressed upon me immediately as I have a very brave friend who has sadly gone through this twice and I'd never heard of it before that. Massive congratulations to the author for mentioning this.

This book gripped me straight from the start and had me hooked all the way through. I thought it was very fast paced and action packed with lots of things going on.

THE plot is filled with murder and mystery and goes from past to present so you can see the events that led up to what was going on in Ivy's present life which I enjoyed. I found the timelines linked smoothly into each other and in the correct places.

Unfortunately there were some factors that were quite unbelievable in regards to how police would investigate murders. This lost a star for me (I always start books with 5/5).

THE characters were well developed and compelling as well as strong and believable and I would be happy to read more about them.

THE ending was completely unexpected and I never guessed who the killer was so bonus points there, nothing worse than guessing straight away!

Overall a great psychological crime novel with twists and turns that kept me guessing and turning the pages.

I would recommend this book to fans of psychological thrillers, suspense, mystery and crime.

When I first saw this book I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it. It's extremely short for a suspense/thriller. But wow was I wrong... This story packs a punch! A woman wakes up with two dead bodies in her room: one next to her in bed and the other under her bed. She has no recollection of how they got there. The story flicks between past and present to build a series of events leading up to the horrifying wake up call (pun intended).

After a few chapters I found myself a little confused as there are multiple characters - each with a hidden story. The more I kept reading the more everything started to fall into place. The characters are well developed and the storyline has many twists and turns that leave you wanting more. The ending was completely unexpected. Although the story wasn't as deep as I would have liked, there is only so much you can write in 170 or so pages. I did find some parts slightly unrealistic (e.g. deciding to kill your friend for sleeping with your boyfriend...) but that is what made the story suspenseful.

If you're looking for a quick and easy, unputdownable thrilling read, this is for you!

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ivy has had a tough life only now it's even worse as she finds two dead bodies in her house, one in her bed, even.

Living with her daughter Delaney who's being hassled by a boy over her sexuality and mostly keeping to herself or arguing with her mum she often stays with her dad and stepmum, Michael and Sam.

However, Ivy also has a close friend called Pam who is often around and the two harbour a deeper bonding secret than anyone could imagine...

This book kept throwing out surprises towards the end and was an utterly gripping thrilling read that you won't be disappointed with!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

This was an enjoyable read, although my dislike for Olivia’s daughter Delaney almost made me stop reading - she is highly unpleasant!
Starting with a naked dead man in her bed, Olivia has to find out what is going on - and what this has to do with her past.

This book was right on time. A solid 4 star⭐ read! I highly recommend this title and look forward to more from this author!

I picked up this thriller last night and was surprised at how short the story was, that I read 75% of the book before I fell asleep!

The One Night Stand follows the story of single mother Ivy, who one morning wakes up to a complete stranger lying dead in bed next to her. How did he get there? She's sure she doesn't know the man. Did she kill him? As Ivy tries to piece together what happened the night before, her own past returns to haunt her. Can she stop her secrets from coming out?

Although short, this book kept me hooked with all the twists you need in a good whodunnit. An enjoyable story, I look forward to reading more by this author.

3.5 Stars...

Well I was in the mood for a bit of a crazy read...so I reached for the latest Carissa Ann Lynch book because I knew she would bring it!

Ivy just started online dating, thanks to her besties Pam and Jerry that insisted she must. She got a little crazy had a couple one night stands..well okay then Ivy! She got more than little crazy, sloppy, drunk and woke up next to a dude she didn't even remember bringing home. Wait the dude is dead. Ummm..Houston we have a problem!

As with her last book that I loved Like, Follow, Kill- this got really crazy, really fast. It was a quick, fast little thriller and kept my attention. I didn't feel like there was a whole lot of character development or much to the plot but it was a fun little read!

Thank you so much to One More Chapter for this ARC!!! I am looking forward to what this author comes up with next!

"The One Night Stand" by Carissa Ann Lynch follows Andrea, turned Ivy, after she fears that her past has come back to haunt her. Once a part of a two-person murder, Ivy has run away, changed her name, and created a new life. Until one morning Ivy wakes up with a dead man in her bed and no recollection of who he is or how he got there.

The beginning of this book is gripping. Who wakes up in a puddle of someone else's blood? People who have either done something extremely awful or people who are being framed. Lynch places us in the action from page one and it really draws you in. Ivy is awakened by her daughter, who doesn't fully understand what is happening, which adds extra suspense.

Lynch creates a real character out of Ivy. She has depth, she has a past, she has real feelings and behaviors. Most of the characters feel real, which gives this story a real flow for readers. However, I feel like Lynch may have taken some of the plot lines into a little too much detail. After a certain point, I knew too many plot points and wasn't sure what was most significant.

This book had an extremely interesting plot, but I feel like it falls a little flat at the end. There are too many competing topics floating around for me to really know which thing I was supposed to focus on. And the part that should have been truly terrifying really wasn't. Overall, I only gave it 3 stars because I just felt like it was missing a wow factor.

The One Night Stand by Carissa Ann Lynch starts with Ivy waking up to a stranger in her bed. She can't remember anything from the night before. Then...she discovers he's dead. The book alternates between before and after she discovers the body. What are Ivy's secrets from the past? what is she hiding now? It all comes together in the end.
Thanks to netgalley, the author and One More Chapter for the advance copy.

Single mother Ivy wakes up to her teenager daughter asking why theres a strange man in her mothers bed? and truth be told, she has absolutely no idea who he is and then realizes HE IS DEAD. This was a very quick and entertaining read since there is about 3 time frames it goes back and fourth with so you're always getting information at different times! I've already recommended this book to friends, one of my favorite reads this year.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter through NetGalley.

This book is different in the action starts right away instead of having a slow build up.
We start with ivy who is woken by her teenage daughter coming into her room and asking who the man is that is asleep in the bed next to her. Ivy tells her to go back to bed and the man will.be gone in the morning by the time she wakes up. Only question for ivy is who is this man ???? Ivy honestley has no recollection of asking anyone back to her place. As she goes to wake him she realises he is dead!!!
Who is this man ???
How did he end up dead??? This story is told by going between now and the past and lists of secrets are revealed along the way.

A really good read and I didn't get who the killer was which is always a bonus.

Would recommend.

This was a pretty good read for me , a good twist that I actually didn't see coming . Ivy wakes up after what she assumes was a one night stand with not one but two dead bodies in her bedroom She has no memory of the night and what happened . We get the events leading up to the night in question , and also a bit of Ivy's childhood , she is hiding a pretty big secret and she thinks someone has discovered it . Few red herrings and good entertainment all round 4 stars
