This book is different in the action starts right away instead of having a slow build up.
We start with ivy who is woken by her teenage daughter coming into her room and asking who the man is that is asleep in the bed next to her. Ivy tells her to go back to bed and the man will.be gone in the morning by the time she wakes up. Only question for ivy is who is this man ????
Ivy honestley has no recollection of asking anyone back to her place. As she goes to wake him she realises he is dead!!!
Who is this man ???
How did he end up dead???

This story is told by going between now and the past and lists of secrets are revealed along the way.

A really good read and I didn't get who the killer was which is always a bonus.

Would recommend.

Captivating and Original!!

Chilling right from the very beginning! Carissa Ann Lynch just dives in and has you holding your breathe right from the very first page! This story was engaging, creepy and kept me on my toes!! I barely moved as I devoured the pages. I was completely engrossed and could not stop.

With twists and turns and characters you can relate too, this was a must read! Fun, exciting, fantastic!

This is a fantastic thriller. It kept me gripped from the very beginning. Ivy is a divorcee. She has one daughter Delaney. Her ex husband traded her in for a younger, better looking model and comparisons are constantly being made between Ivy and his new wife Sam. Ivy is eager to meet someone so enters into the dating scene again which results in one night stands. One morning she wakes up, after yet another one night stand and vows to put a stop to this behaviour, only to learn that the man lying next to her has been stabbed to death, and she has no recollection of the night. With a series of flash backs and much introspection we learn how Ivy got to this point in her life. Its balmy at times but very entertaining. It's one I'd definitely recommend.

This book was so confusing! Split into three time zones and I found that I couldn’t keep up.

I mean who is not going to be intrigued with a title like this?! Lol but seriously y’all dang was it a thriller and held my attention the entire novel.

I really loved this book!! It had so many twists and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next!! This was my first book by this Author, and it won’t be the last!! Quick read!! Highly recommended!! You won’t be disappointed!!

This was a pretty good book. It starts off quickly, with Ivy finding the dead man in her bed within the first pages, and continues at a fast pace from there. Ivy is a divorced mom, struggling to stay connected with her teenage daughter, and being encouraged by friends to get back into the dating world. She doesn't remember anything that happened prior to the man showing up in her bed and sets out to solve the mystery.

The story mostly follow's Ivy's search to figure out who this person was and what happened, and how this situation potentially ties back to her past (which is hinted at, but unknown to the reader until closer to the end of the story). You will have to suspend your disbelief a bit, as some of Ivy's actions seem outside of what a normal person would do, and some situations seemed a little too easy to ring true. That being said, I could follow her thought processes and was rooting for her overall. The ending came as a true surprise to me, which is hard to do, and made me like the story more.

Overall, this is a fast paced and twisty mystery and I would recommend it to fans of the genre. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This thriller navigates between three POVS: now, right before now, and some many years ago, and although they all come together somewhat slowly at first, they hit with a bang when the pieces all begin to fit together! I found this to be a fast read with multiple guessing games as to why there are dead men, (yes, MEN).. in Ivy’s bedroom.

What a ride to put this puzzle together. Up and down and all around. This was a twisty little ride. But it kept my interest which is more than I can say for some other thrillers.

Of course, there were a couple eye roll moments. Without giving anything away, let's just say the chocolates were one. 🍫

In any event, this was a super quick read. I wouldn't say it will stand out over time or go down as one of the most memorable but then again I find the thriller genre to be on repeat often. It was still a fun little escape read.

I first read a story from this author over a year ago, and it was one of those that was an okay read, but it wasn't riveting. I promised to give the author another chance, so I did.

On the plus side? This was a fairly quick read with some interesting twists along the way.

But other than that? The majority of these characters are one-dimensional, acting like they didn't have the brains to run to the corner store much less to anything else. Let's see which boxes we check:

1. Herione who is bitter about her ex leaving her and having a family with someone else?
2. A bratty teenage daughter who is a bitch for no reason? Seriously. I get teenage daughters and their attitudes (I have 2 myself), but this goes above any beyond any reasonable personality imaginable.
3. An aloof stepmom who managed to have twins when the first wife couldn't?
4. Jerk of an ex? \
5. Bumbling best friends who force you to do something you don't want to do?
6. Super dark secret (but obvious) secret?

So Ivy wakes up with a dead man in her bed (and another one under her bed just for fun) and she decides not to call the cops. Instead, she's going to "figure this out on her own"... um okay? Because that doesn't make you look guilty at all.

From there the story bounces around from things that are happening "in the now" to things that have happened... I don't know a month ago? It's never really clarified how long ago these things happen, to things that happen in the past. The past-er past? Yes, it makes for an interesting story, but also a very confusing one as well.

Also, the ending didn't make sense. I can't go into detail without revealing spoilers, but I feel like with all of the evidence that was there, and the history given, the ending didn't much match what should have been.

I will say the ending did contain some surprise twists that did not see coming, which honestly is what saved this from being a one-star read for me. All in all, this novel may appeal to those who enjoy these kinds of thriller novels.

Excellent thriller with a shocker of a bedroom scene and a mother willing to go the last mile to protect her surviving twin daughter. By alternating between the present, the near past and mom Ivy's school days, the slowly revealed drama of past events built the foundation for a crazy, twisted present (and Ivy is lost as to what's happening)! The villain was a mystery to me right to the slammin' finish.

This book was easy to read and fast moving with a just-right length to tell the tale without unnecessary distractions. I did note an inconsistency or two, but they were minor and did not detract from a super read.😀👍👍

The One Night Stand begins with divorced mom Ivy waking up in her bed at home with a man she does not know. She has no memory of him or of inviting him to her home. When Ivy tries to get him out of the house, she realizes he's not asleep but dead. After that engaging chapter, the story is told in Before and After segments interspersed throughout the novel, as we learn how Ivy got to this point, what she does after finding him, and how he got there in the first place. Is Ivy as innocent as she seems? 

The book reads quickly as we follow Ivy as she tries to deal with family issues related to her teenage daughter and her ex-husbands new family, jumping back into the dating scene, and of course the dead man in her bed. Recommended for fans of psychological suspense.

The One Night Stand was unbelievably gripping. I didn't put it down from start to finish! There were twists and turns throughout and nothing was predictable yet everything made sense. A great thriller.

This turns out to be a convoluted mystery between two friends. What begins as an awful enough scenario ends up either being the tip of the iceberg or pulling the thread that unravels the whole sweater.
Pam and Ivy are close friends and help one another out in anyway they can.
When one lapse of judgement leads to a corpse under the bed, things get out of control. The first clue comes with her reaction to finding the body.

Its pretty fun story and the ending is pretty good.

I had the opportunity to download this book from Net Galley. It is also the first book I have ever read by Ms. Lynch and let me tell you what ... she nailed it! If you like psychological thrillers with major twists then I highly recommend you give this book a read.

What would you do if you woke up with two dead people in your bedroom, one in your bed and one under your bed? This is exactly the situation Ivy found herself in. She had to hide these two bodies from her daughter, Delaney, so Ivy was grateful that Delaney was spending so much time with her father, Michael, his wife Samantha, and their two twin boys. Finally, Ivy had to include her best friend, Pam, in on the secret of what was going on ... Pam and Ivy have history that goes way back. Ivy had also accidentally backed into her neighbor, Fran, who ended up with a broken arm. In her attempts to apologize to Fran, they became friends in a strange sort of way, Ivy seeking a mother figure as her mom passed when she was a child and Fran was a lonely widow.

Ms. Lynch has this book so well written, going from "Now" to "Before" to childhood memories of Ivy. There are so many twisty turns involved ... oh, goodness! Just read the book!

One night stand has the right elements of a crime thriller. With then anticipation of why and who. When two bodies are found in the bedroom , one lying next to her and initially discovered by her daughter Delaney

This is the basis of the book. Which then gets going by the past and the now chapters to eventually come together for the ending.
A good read but it does not hold me as much as I would expect a crime thriller to do.
The dealing of the bodies gets left for chapters as we travel back and forth in time.
But the story unfolds of what happened and why the bodies were left.
I enjoyed the book but i was not immersed in it

So this starts off with a very interesting premise - Ivy wakes up and finds a man next to her in bed, but unfortunately he's dead and she can't remember how he got there or what on earth happened last night. But that's where it ended because she didn't call the bloody police! It annoys the hell out of me when something like that happens and the first things any sane person would do is call the police and yet for some reason, the main character doesn't?! We do find out some things that happened in her past but I still didn't think these constituted her not calling the police.

This book flips between being told in the past and present which confused me at first, but all soon became apparent as the stories started to inter-weave and we found out more. I have to admit when I first started reading about the story in the past, I did roll my eyes. I just felt like it had maybe been done several times before but I did like the way this trope was done in this instance so props to this book.

I did enjoy the premise of the book and enjoyed the ending but I did find some parts of this just a bit OTT. There was also Ivys relationsip with her ex-husband where we kept seeing hints towards him being abusive in some form in the past but I feel like it was never fully fleshed and felt like it could have just been chucked in to try and add a bit more drama to the story so I would have liked to see some more back story to help flesh this relationship and connection out. I also found the involvement of her daughter towards the end of the book just completely unrealistic and over the top.

I didn't think this book was bad however there were just certain aspects to this story that just didn't sit right with me and seemed overexaggerated and meant that I didn't enjoy it as much as I could.

Ivy is a recently divorced and struggling mother of a teenager named Delaney. Their relationship has been strained so having her walk in and finding a strange man in her moms bed does not help. As Ivy tries to wake him though she discovers that he is not only dead but has been murdered, stabbed repeatedly. Ivy is sure she has never seen him before even though she has been engaging in random encounters with men she meets through a dating app. Ivy had been signed up by her friends as a birthday surprise to push her to move past her ex, who left her for a younger woman.
As Ivy is trying to search her memory and figure out who this person is, thoughts from the past plague her. Could this be her past catching up with her after all this time?
The story definitely requires a suspension of belief as I did not find the plot realistic at all but if you are looking for a book with an interesting storyline and are willing to overlook improbable leaps of common sense you will enjoy this.

This is the second book I've read by Carissa Ann Lynch. Just like the other one, "The One Night Stand" had a really interesting setup that kept me reading. Unfortunately, the ending didn't work for me, nor did it feel like it fit with the characters, which was a real shame as the first 90% or so of the book was good. Sadly, this same problem plagued "Like, Follow, Kill." I'd also like to point out that the author persisted in using the phrase "sexual preference" instead of the appropriate term, "sexual orientation."
