Author Flora Waycott offers this beginner's guide to drawing and painting. She explores how to add color and gradient, how to add texture and details. She offers step-by-step instructions on drawing each image, everything from a swan to a sweater.
I enjoyed browsing through Waycott's lovely designs, but I found them a bit overwhelming for this ultimate beginner.

This is a lovely book for a beginning artist just about to open a new sketchbook and embark on that most fulfilling of habits that is art journaling. There's the basic info that is needed and the step by step drawing instructions so helpful for a beginner. I love the whimsical drawings and paintings and the pleasing colours. The ideas and inspirations on what to draw is most helpful too as we can sometimes be unable to decide what on earth to put down in our blank pages next.

One thing that would make it even better is more steps for the drawing instructions.

Thank you Netgalley and Walter Foster for allowing me to peek into this new book. This is my honest review.

3.5 stars

This sweet book has creative prompts and drawing exercises for things around the home, outside, everyday life, and around town. it also has some lovely crafting projects. If you're brand new to drawing and want to look for inspiration, this is a sweet book that you can flip through and read whichever section speaks most to you. It has a few steps for how to draw things but I think it's too hard for a true beginner to make the leaps in between each step.

If you're more advanced, you can also use this book for inspiration but it might seem a bit too basic for you. I fall somewhere in between and while I really enjoyed my time with this book, I don't think there was a major take away for me. There were 1-2 wonderful ideas in the book that I would like to try which is enough to make me happy that I read this book. Not to mention a few hours of lovely inspiration.

thank you to netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

What a lovely book. I’ve worked my way through a few of the activities, but really loved the symmetrical design work. I like the simplicity, space on the page and clear instructions provided. I’m looking forward to using these techniques in my new bullet journal. Thank you for letting me read and review.

This book is perfect for anyone that wants to bring a bit of magic and simplicity to their papers or journals.
It goes from materials to helpful guides about color, step-by-steps and inspirations about drawing and colouring a bit of your life, let them be plants (and I really needed help in this part), animals, equipement or street art. As someone who stresses about their drawings being complex and not similar to the image I create in my mind, it's good to be reminded that the most beautiful drawings can be simple too, specially for someone who hates colouring things like me. The illustrations are really cute and whimsical, daring you to be creative.

Thanks NetGalley, Quarto Publishing Group and Flora Waycott for this ARC, it definitly will help in decorating my journal in the future!

I have a son who may (or may not) be a budding artist and who also happens to be a visual learner. This guide will be perfect in demonstrating the various stages of a drawing from the rough sketch to the finished masterpiece. The tips were brimming with practical knowledge. (From now on, I will always remember to pack a pencil sharpener.) The illustrations were extremely helpful and lovely. This is a fantastic guide. I'm excited to get started. Thank you!

Thank you to NetGalley, Quarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster, and Flora Waycott for an ARC of 'Inspired Artist: Draw Every Little Thing' in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

I love this little book! I can barely draw stick people, but love the idea of learning to draw and paint sweet, simple art that I can use for cards or in an art journal. I was disappointed with the first ten or so pages as it felt more like a "what to buy" book than a "how to draw" book. But then we got to the section where the author had created little pieces of art exactly like I wanted. I took my pen and scratch paper and practiced several of her drawings. They look nothing like hers, but I am hopeful that practice will help me improve. I am especially excited to draw and paint the little kitchen shelves vignette, and some of her plants and florals. I will be buying a drawing tablet the next chance I get!

Thanks for the lovely inspiration Netgalley, Flora Waycott and Walter Foster Publishing who gave me this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

'Draw Every Little Thing' is a step by step guide to drawing. Starting with tools, lines and colour theory the book will easily guide you through the art of sketching, drawing and colouring. You will learn how to draw everyday objects such as plants, domestic animals, kitchen and room equipment. I really enjoyed the pictures in the book and step by step tutorials, and even though I'm a rather reluctant as far as drawing is concerned I'm going to give it a go.
