As with any book about the Holocaust or Auschwitz I knew that this would be difficult and emotive read. Although the characters were fictional the events are based on well researched facts, drawing from real survial stories.

A horrific but also inspiring account of the determination of these women to survive the unimaginable horrors of the camp and the evil of the regieme which led them there. A beautifully written story of hope during hopeless times, friendship and love in a time where hate and evil set the destiny of these poor souls.

In the latest of the recent flurry of Auschwitz related novels, this story of Eva boarding the train to the camp is heartbreaking and touching. Eva arrives hoping to find her husband, Michal, who arrived months previously. She is desperate to find him and Sofie, her bunkmate, is desperate to help her see Michal for one last time.

I've read a few Auschwitz based novels and enjoyed them , despite them being heartbreaking, but now know that Auschwitz advises against them as they are historically inaccurate. I still enjoyed this novel anyway and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys this sort of book.

Such a poignant yet beautiful story of the harrowing times spent in Auswitch. This is the story of a young girls courage and absolute determination to survive. I've always enjoyed books about Auswitch, as sad and cruel as they are but I think this is my favourite so far!

The Child of Auschwitz is an emotional story of hope, survival and the strength of a mother’s love.

In the author’s notes at the end, she mentions that in the course of her research for this novel whilst reading testimonies and biographies of women who survived Auschwitz, the one thing that stood out to her was their “unquenchable sense of hope that they would survive.” I feel the author has successfully captured this sense of hope through the character of Eva.

I really loved this book - the characters are wonderfully depicted, the pace is good and the story flows really well. Definitely a book I didn’t want to put down!

This was a book that I had a very difficult time with. It dealt with sensitive topics and that's one thing to be careful of if the trigger warnings are something that you watch out for. Full review to come.

Auschwitz books are always tough to read and this was no exception. Heartbreaking and intriguing, it'll do what it needs to do if you love books about this subject

I love historical fiction and especially those that share accounts of the tragedy that happened in recent history. This book is based on the true story and was both heartbreaking and beautiful. Like most holocaust novels, it’s a story of sacrifice.

I have read some many stories like this and found this to be one of the memorable ones. Definitely recommend.

Historical fiction (in particular- WWII) is my favorite genre and this book definitely didn't let me down.

This follows the story of Eva, her husband Michal and the journey of their lives pre-war and post war and in between (with a short passage in the very beginning and end of "present day").

The book focuses mostly on Eva and her path and hope to find her husband after he is sent to Auschwitz. It shows the daily heartache and struggles of living in a camp, the friendships that can be made, what people do for each other in times of need, It shows the inhumanity of some and the humanity of others.

The story about a child born in Auschwitz who survived.
The story about Sofie who loses her child as she's ripped away from him and sent to a camp.
The story about giving your life to save someone else's.

This book made me smile and made me cry. If you are a fan of historical fiction, I definitely recommend this.

This book is based on a true story of a baby who was born and conceived at Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The author weaves the story of Eva's life prior to meeting her husband Michal, their courtship, life in the ghetto and then her journey to Auschwitz to find her husband.

I enjoyed reading how Eva when working in "Canada" would save some of the pictures that she would find in the luggage and was overjoyed when she would find those people at the camps and reunite them with their loved ones with the photos.

Eva makes a friend called Sophie on her journey from the ghetto to Auschwitz and together they help each other live as best they can in these horrid conditions.

This book was well written and I look forward to read more by Lily Graham.

Historical fiction is my favorite type of book to read and WWII is my favorite time period so I was excited to get an ARC of this book.
I read this book awhile ago and have been trying to come up with the words for a review that will do it justice, yet the right words fail me.
I sit here in my nice house with a nice job, nice car and 3 healthy teenage daughters and I can’t begin to imagine what this time must have been like. How horrific to live through such unbearable circumstances and to bring a baby into it no less. I’m a Labor and Delivery nurse and the thought of babies being born in that place horrifies me and makes me that much more thankful to live in this day and age.
Please do yourself a favor and read this book.

She soon befriends Sofia and the two of them vow to look after each other, but what lengths will they go to reunite Eva with Michal and Sofia with her son Tomas?

As to be expected a heartbreaking story with the horrors experienced by all of the characters, and having visited Auschwitz last year I could visualise the horrendous experience, but a book that I couldn't put down willing them to pull through and escape

I am a sucker for all Holocaust novels. Lily Graham completely swept me into this novel.

What an extremely heartbreakingly beautiful story about love and hope. I honestly am still at a lost for words to write a more thorough review.

A Child of Auschwitz shifts between two timeline for one woman, Eva. Before and during her time in Auschwitz. In this book, you will find a reoccurring theme of sacrifice and endurance.

This book will have you crying and yet gently remind you that even in the darkest of time- you can find happiness. I'm completely enamored by this book and would highly recommend it.

This book was heartbreaking and inspiring all at the same time. The writing was beautiful and flowed. Such a hard topic to read about and to review. If you are into these Ww2 books this one won’t be disappointing.

A heart-breaking tale of the struggle to survive in the worst of circumstance. It is very haunting and difficult to endure but it is uplifting that there can always be some hope.
Could you imagine a Jewish baby being born in Auschwitz and surviving?
This is an incredible story of the miracle of life. The way that the women in this story held on to survive the atrocities they encountered.
This story is horrifying, and heart-breaking, it is impossible to read any book of this genre and setting and not think of the prisoners who suffered and died in the concentration camps.
Highly recommended to those who enjoy historical fiction.

Desperately sad but the women coped so well with such atrocities. I still can't believe that humans can be so evil and unfeeling. The explanations of the women upon whom the book was based at the end of the book was incredibly interesting particularly as the reader is reminded yet again that these events (although the book focused on fictional characters) actually happened in the not too distant past. Heartbreaking.

So detailed. It felt difficult to read about these harrowing times that these people experienced. i am glad that i was able to read this book

Oh my! I have read many a book about the Holocaust fiction and non fiction. Lily Graham has certainly done her research. This story was not an easy read but which books set in Auschwitz are?! The characters had great depth and very descriptive. A great story set in a horrible place mixed with love and friendship.
