I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

This book sent me on a roller coaster of twists and turns. There are some very unlikeable characters and the plot is slightly far fetched but the entertainment factor was high. I read this one fast as the pacing was full speed ahead. This book pulled me out of a reading slump. The setting of New York City was fun and I always enjoy peeking into how wealthy people live (although I hope this wasn't an accurate description!)

Overall, this was a fun, twisty thriller that I recommend. One of my favorite reads of the year!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This only took me a couple days to read! Wow, I really enjoyed it! It was not predictable at all, and I love that about a story. I'm giving it 4⭐ because at times it felt choppy, but overall it was a great storyline. I could see this as a movie. Definitely a page turner. ⁣

You can check it out on Kindle Unlimited 😁⁣

Fantastic as always Caroline Mitchel - Edge of the seat, gripping stuff! Different to the usualy series of titles, but enthralling!

Really enjoyed this book, great plot plenty of twists and turns, my only frustration was the main character who at times drove me to distraction with frustration! Would still recommend, 4 stars

This book wasn't horrible, but it was pretty bad. I skimmed through most of it to see where it was going and I couldn't even read the rest of the little parts that I was looking through. Not recommended at all.

This was one of the times where you are reading about a MC and realize that you want to just ask them to please stop being so meek and to grow a backbone.

Roz is a young person who ended up getting pregnant. Being poor, she decided the best thing to do was to give it up for adoption, which starts this whole story.

I was not buying most of the absolutely over the top things that were happening, but I gotta say that Dympna saved the whole thing. We all need a Dympna in our lives.

I was not happy with the ending, I realize why it had to be this way, but I cannot believe that only Sheridan was made to pay for what happened.

I really enjoyed reading this book and how fast paced it was! It kept me wanting to read more and to find out what was going to happen to Roz. She surely was a very strong independent woman and was gonna fight for her baby no matter what and I am happy with the ending of the book. Being a mother myself this story had my attention.
The story is told between a few different characters but mainly Roz and Sheridan. Roz ends up being pregnant and doesn't know what to do with the baby and ends up trying to give it up for adoption on a website where she comes across a couple in New York who are looking for one. They have it all and are named as a diamond couple. Roz thinks they are the perfect candidates, but are they really? Roz ends up finding out many crazy things and secrets about these people and thinks maybe this was a bad idea.. so what now? Will Roz follow through with this adoption? This was such a crazy read!

So this is the book I ended up being selected for NetGalley, but I didn't download it in time. I saw it on Kindle Unlimited and snagged this baby right on up. I enjoyed this author's writing and the suspense she brought to the story. We are introduced to Roz, who is just living her life daily when she becomes pregnant; she knows she won't be able to take care of the baby. She can barely take care of herself, so what does she do? She signs up online to find a couple willing to adopt her child. Everything seems good I mean, this couple is considered a diamond couple. Nothing could go wrong.
As we dive deeper into our story, we discover that just because you have money doesn't mean you are the best person. Things are hidden behind closed doors, and Roz will find out just how much is hidden in this couple's home. Especially in the basement. I was on the edge of my seat towards the end as I kept hoping to see if Roz and her baby would be rescued. I loved how her friend never gave up on Roz and just had that feeling of something being off. The surprise of who the father of the baby is, well, that was one I was not expecting and was like, oh damn girl.
The only issue I had with the book was when it was mentioned how big the baby was; I would have to go and google to make sure because it didn't sound right. I assume there is a difference between the UK and the US? Which was fine, but it may need to be adjusted for those that will be anal about it. I plan on reading more by this author as I do like her style and suspense.

Disturbing thriller with lots of uneasy emotions running through me while reading this. Roz is the epitome of a great mom who only wants best for her baby. Sheridan is the adoptive mother of Roz’s baby, but she is a psycho with a capital P. Roz doesn’t want anyone to know who the baby’s father us. Sheridan and her husband are famous and went through an elite adoption agency. The same Roz signed up for. Without going into details, this book is worth the hype. Dark and twisty and completely unpredictable.

This book was really good. It wasn't hard to imagine how people can lure you in with their public persona and then you don't realize until they've got you where they want you that you were wrong....oh so wrong.

Lots of twists and an interesting storyline that will keep you hooked. It has you on the edge of your seat and is hard to put down. A good thriller, I wanted more from it but wasn’t disappointed.

There is a certain amount of predictability to this, but that doesn't detract from what is still a suspenseful thriller.

Our main character is Roz, who finds herself in dire straits after losing her job and discovering she's pregnant. She finds a website which promises to pay her for her baby. In addition she gets to live with a fabulously wealthy New York couple for the remainder of her pregnancy. Nothing could possibly go wrong...

When it becomes clear that something bad happened to the last woman who stayed with the couple, Roz begins to question whether she made the right decision and whether she can keep herself and her baby safe.

3.5– 4 for the first 95% and then 5% for the ridiculous end. I have had this on my Kindle/netgalley shelf forever. But I can honestly see why.

This book started off really good. I enjoyed the story. Loved seeing how it unfolded and all the secrets that unfolded. But then we hit the end. It was so ridiculous for the reasons below.

<spoiler> So you are telling me that Dymphna is ok with her best friend sleeping with her father while her parents are still married.

You're telling me that Roz lets Daniel get away with what he did because the son needs a family. How about the dead woman's parents? Maybe they would like to have their grandchild. </spoilers>

I really enjoyed this book. It was my first encounter with this author so I was unsure what to expect but I was impressed. Initially I wanted to scream at Roz for being so naive but I loved the twists at the end - shocker that I hadn't anticipated! I would definitely recommend this book and will read more by Caroline in the future.

This author goes out of her way to show the life of new mothers, the joys and the pains and anxieties, as well as any suffering that could happen. Lack of sleep, the perils and the risks of having babysitters, the guilt of career mothers who must return to work too soon after giving birth. The book is a thriller about the kidnapping of one mother's infant and about the women in her mommy group who try to find the child.

The Perfect Mother is a suspenseful story with an original plot line and its fair share of twists.

Roz found herself pregnant after a tryst with a man who should have been off limits. She decided to give the baby up for adoption, through a reputable adoption site. She was paired up with a Diamond Couple, meaning they were VERY rich, from the United States. Things felt off from the start once she arrived in New York. The couple selected aren’t at all what she expected.

I felt that the book held a great amount of suspense and wondering of what was next, but I feel it lacked the true angst that something bad is going to happen to the main character. From the beginning my gut said things were going to turn out ok. The revelation of the baby’s father was interesting though.

3.5 stars – Rounding to 4 stars for Goodreads

What an interesting and creepy book! I called the twist early-ish on in the book. I think the author did a good job at the multiple POV. I think it would have been interesting to have one of Daniel. He was such an interesting character.
