This is a twisty story filled with lies and deception.
There were multiple characters which could be confusing at times.
The book was engaging and a page turner

Thank you Netgalley for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review. An interesting novel by a new author in my personal reading-sphere! I am sure others would enjoy it too. Good character portrayls, descriptive setting and gripping plot.

Everyone knows Melissa Silk and her two best friends: a walking poster for friendship and community. People might hate them if they weren't so infectiously likeable.
But when a fatal accident causes their perfect world to shatter, Melissa can't move on.
Everyone urges Melissa not to let obsession and paranoia pull their friendship group apart. But she knows that something about the accident doesn't quite add up.

The author portrayed the characters amazing and I felt like I was part of the novel. I felt like these were people that I knew.

This is a book about friendship and misplaced loyalty. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a domestic thriller. It is perfect for fans of big little lies.

Wow, what a surprise this book was! This gave me strong 'Big little lies' vibes, so a British version of that, if you will. What stood out the most is Cath Weeks' writing - absolutely captivating. Once I started this, I was immediately drawn in to the town of Milford and its residents. This is a domestic suspense drama done right.

Friends don’t lie tells the story of childhood friends who remain close now they are married with children of their own. When tragedy strikes, many questions are asked about the incident and secrets are revealed.
I enjoyed this book and felt there was enough intrigue to keep me reading. I didn’t find the ending completely satisfactory but the relationships between the main characters was relatable and well written.

This was a good, chilling read with a twist that really got me, but also is that slow build up, which often times had me reaching for something else. Glad I didn’t give up though, because it tied together very well and was well worth reading, just wish it was a bit more fast paced and it would be a definite 5 star read for me. Sone thrills, chills, and shocks are sure to come when reading, so grab today and don’t stop because you feel it’s too slow. It’s worth reading until the end!
Will make sure I buzz it up!

This was an enjoyable read but perhaps a bit of a slow burner. Stick with it because it really is worth it! I would recommend this to anyone.

I devoured this book for three days. It was riveting. Loved it.
Everyone knows Silkies s their friendship. Melissa, Rachael and Jenny are best friends with their husbands.
A fatal accident occurred and their lives changed forever. Their friend Jenny is died. Are they really best friends? Or each of them have secrets of their own?
Read this book to know more.
Although the suspense was not so good but the author's writing kept me hooked.
Characters were good. I totally connected with Melissa. Her character was so deep. Other supporting characters were good also.
A good read.

The silkies as they are known are well known where they live. They have been friends since childhood..
But when one of them dies it brings tension , doubts and their friendship into question .
A very good read and the ending is not what I expected.
Thanks NetGalley

An excellent novel that stays with you long past your bedtime. Incredibly well depicted characters. Kudos to the writer!

I perservered with this book, although I found the characters hard to like and the writing a little loose and disjointed.

Thanks Netgalley for the opportunity to read a diverse variety of books.

This book was a slow starter but once it picked up I was engrossed a lot of thought had gone into this book but can unfortunately only give it a 2 star rating.

This was a slow and steady read, but certainly picked up after a suspicious death. Was it an accident or attempted murder? I enjoyed the book, and can't wait for the next one! Recommended.

A generally good and well written novel. It lives up to its premise and is well characterised. I enjoyed it overall.

Everyone knows the Silkies. Led by Melissa Silk, the trio have been friends since childhood, supporting each other through thick and thin. Adults now, with children of their own, their lives have changed but their friendship is still the cornerstone of their lives. So when one of the three is killed in a tragic accident, Melissa is unable to move on. Determined to discover what really happened to her friend, she inadvertently sets in motion a chain of events that will bring everyone’s secrets into the open...

This one starts off like a standard domestic drama - the scene is set, with the relationships between the these women and their families being outlined in a slightly confusing yet very helpful little section at the start. Then, the tragedy occurs, and it veers instead into being more of a murder mystery sort of read, just without a definitive murder. This makes for a very odd reading experience, as you don’t know if you should be suspecting people or if it was just truly a tragic accident.

There were also some flashbacks thrown in, relating to a slightly older mystery that is also being explored, to do with the identity of a young girl in a yellow dress from Melissa’s past. This one is only a mystery to the reader though, with lots of hints being dropped about a decades old event that no one likes to discuss.

The bulk of the book is from Melissa’s perspective, along with some sections written by the other surviving Silkie. There was also the odd chapter by a rotating cast of neighbours and community members, which seemed a bit odd - the reasoning behind including these sections only comes out right at the end, so if they seem out of place, bare in mind they are there for a reason.

Now, for the big reveal of what actually happened. Obviously I’m not going to say, but personally, I did find it a bit underwhelming, and definitely a bit of a stretch to come even close to being imaginable. It wasn’t the worst ending, it just wasn’t very satisfying.

All in all, it wasn’t terrible, and it wasn’t great. It was a quick read, so that’s a bonus, but I wouldn’t rush to pick up her next novel.

Disclaimer - I was provided with an advance copy of this novel by NetGalley. This has not affected my review in any way and all opinions are my own.

An interesting story line rooted in long term relationships. Three women whose lives have been interwoven until they feel like family. The death of one throws doubts on all the bounds they, and their partners, have thought strong. I enjoyed the build up and uncertainty - a whodunnit- if anyone ! Will keep you guessing and I didn’t see the final twist coming.
