Thank you for this book, but I don't really know what to say. I liked the idea of the story but for me it was missing something - that is why there is only 3 stars

A fantastic read! Couldn't put it down and the engaging writing style really helped with that. Great twists too. Looking forward to reading more from the author!

Someone Else’s House by Jessica Vallance was a great psychological thriller with twists and turns throughout. Three friends go on holiday and rent out an apartment but it’s not long before things start to go wrong, who is behind it all, who can be trusted, it kept me on my toes trying to guess.

I would firstly like to thank Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm in two minds about this book honestly. I was certainly anxious to begin with - a holiday that seemed to wrong at every turn. An odd acquaintance, disappointing accommodation, a mysterious man in the middle of the night, and a set-up faulty toaster! I was definitely on edge - the holiday from hell!
Except, the story disappointed me a little. It made sense, and it wasn't a bad story overall, but I didn't get goosebumps. My mild anxiety in the beginning turned into easy reading.
I may just be greedy, but I wanted more. I wanted to be at the edge of my seat. I wanted to be terrified to go on holiday again!
I just expected more from a 'thriller'.
Worth a read, but I have high expectations I guess.

A sincere thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for providing me an ebook copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. I enjoyed this story very much and felt like I knew each character personally due to the description of them. I enjoyed the storyline. This is not my usual genre but in this instance I am extremely pleased and grateful for opening up my mind to something totally different. Thanks again.

Holiday Hell.....
Easy reading, psychological suspense. A holiday felt on the cards for Lauren following a break with a boyfriend - a rental in Barcelona with a friend seemed just the ticket. It wasn't not long, however, before things began to go awry - from another addition to their twosome to strange incidents and unsettling occurrences. The book kept pace until the end pages - an engrossing read.

Good domestic thriller to read quickly and have an entertaining time. It's nothing original, but done well.

Thanks a lot to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is such a brilliant concept I can't believe no-one's ever thought of it before—a psychological thriller set in an Air B'n'B. There were so many layers of mystery here, and I didn't trust any of the characters (including ones who had died 12 years previously). The writing was so compelling I couldn't put it down.

An excellent domestic thriller that stays with you long past your bedtime. Incredibly well depicted characters. Kudos to the writer!

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. I felt this book had suspense and some twists, but overall I felt the ending was predictable. Just middle of the road for me as far as thrillers go.

A girly holiday is just what is needed when Lauren breaks up with her long-term, difficult boyfriend. What could possibly go wrong? An easy, Sunday afternoon read that picks up the pace considerably towards the end and has a good “who can you trust?” twist.

Sometimes you don’t see how you’re being manipulated, and sometimes the most abusive relationships are those that start so positively.
Our main character in this, Lauren, is introduced to us when she makes the momentous decision to dump her long-standing boyfriend because of his moodiness and emotionally abusive behaviour. She’s, naturally, not immediately at ease with the situation so jumps at the chance to go on holiday with her best friend.
Rather oddly a new friend tags along. Odd things start to happen, and we can’t quite work out how things are going to go.
Without giving too much away, Lauren’s past is important. Once we start to learn a little more of her past then we can see that certain events have a more sinister feel. The question is not just who is messing with her, but why.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this in exchange for my thoughts.

This was an OK read for me. Unfortunately it wasn’t the psychological read I was hoping for, and I only really felt it picked up the pace at the end. I loved the author’s book Trust Her but felt disappointed with this one.

Sorry but this book isn't for me. I couldn't get into the story and gave up. I'm sure that other will enjoy it though

I’m torn on this one. Parts of it are good, but the cover and title is somewhat misleading. Quite underwhelming on the whole, I didn’t finish it.

When done well I do love a good psychological thriller with its soon to surface buried secrets and the not knowing who to trust that usually will lead to the unsuspecting main character being put in mortal danger. Hopefully it has that unputdownable quality that may mean that the reader sits up long into the night to discover who is behind the usually strange happenings and why. Here Jessica Vallance has produced a work that ticks the main box's that I'm looking for from such a book and yes it did have me reading it long into the night.

The story concerns what happens when Lauren not without reason ends a live in relationship with her rather exasperating boyfriend and goes off on a holiday to Barcelona with her best friend and someone else she has just met but has connections with her previous life in the south coastal town where all three women once lived.

On arrival at their apartment (which is far outside what was expected) strange things start happening and it is not long before a tragic event from the past and its inherent secrets rears its head again placing Lauren in danger. The author maintains the suspense and a sense of unease throughout and with flashbacks to the past events of 2005 the full horrifying story emerges. If you are looking for thrills and mystery then this is worth a try.

I enjoyed Someone Else’s House. It’s the kind of women’s fiction based thriller that I find really addictive. Full of suspicious characters I promise you’ll have no idea who to trust!

I was expecting something a little different from the title, while the accommodation the characters stay in is creepy its really a minor part of the story. Maybe a title change is in order?

The writing style was well executed with one great one liners thrown in. The opening of Someone Else’s House is brilliant, it got my attention .A little funny a little serious I loved it!

Overall I’d give this a 4/5.
