Fast-paced action story in the second book of the series. We met Evan and Isla and what happens to then in the first book. In this Evan pushes Isla away. After a few tries of taking her life, he comes back as her bodyguard. The plot was predictable, a few twists but nothing dramatic. I found the story, an okay read.
Waiting to see how this series unfolds in the next book.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley

Bishop's Queen is the 2nd book in the Endgame Trilogy, written by Katie Reus. Bishop's Queen is Isla & Evan's story. If you read the first book in this series, then you are aware that Evan broke it off with Isla after becoming scared in a murder attempt. Which now Evan is maybe regretting his decision.

Isla isn't too happy with life or Evan right now. After the bombing that killed her father, she finds herself running the firm.

After several attempts on Isla's life, Evan decides to become her bodyguard, after all, she was his queen, and he wants her back in the castle.

This title took me a while to complete. It wasn't a quick read like the first title, Bishop's Knight, which I read in one night. This title took me a few weeks to read, which never happens, with one of Katie Reus's titles. I am going to blame it all on Evan's character. Some men complain, at a minute of trouble the woman he's with bails. But with Evan's character, he pushes Isla away. I thought she should have let him court a little more before accepting him back.

I think Bishop's Knight set the bar just a little high, didn't leave much wiggle room for this story. Though the plot was predictable, I found the story, an okay read.

Now, the Bishop's Endgame sounds like it's going to be a fun read, waiting impatiently to see how this series unfolds.

Another Katie Reus novel? Yes, PLEASE! I loved Bishop's Knight and could not wait to get my hands on this next novel in the series. Reus had done an excellent job in the previous novel and whetting our appetite for the next installment - little teases here and there. Gimme! Gimme!

Oh boy is Evan a jerk! Ugh! You are in love with Isla, show it! And not by taking all the decisions away from her. And Isla? Come on, girl! Demand his love or walk away. I did feel there was slightly too much introspection with their love story. The self-doubt and self-recrimination drove me batty at times. I also didn't understand why Reus made the couple have a large age gap. It never affects the story except to drive me batty in regards to Isla running this huge company. At her age? Yeah, no, I wasn't buying it. But the sexy scenes? Oh yeah. I'll take more of those, please.

The bad guy is a tiny bit predictable, but that's okay. It didn't affect the suspense one bit. The suspense and mystery aspect were the best parts of the novel.

I'm now anxiously awaiting Bishop's Endgame.

I recommend this one for lovers or romantic suspense.

Evan is every girls dream guy, but he can be such an ass!!! Isla is sweet and caring. She loves Evan just as he is. They find themselves apart and Isla does not know what to do, but she is a strong woman and so she moves on! Just like she should!! Go Isla! Evan should check himself!! Isla has male company, I mean, of course she does!! Evan has a lot to think about, but when trouble comes brewing and Isla has a stalker will Evan come through? Good and a fast paced read. Katie keeps you guessing! Not bad! Loved it!

I received this ARC from the publisher via Net Galley for my honest review and at my request. The opinions written here in our my own. Thank you NetGalley!!

Evan Bishop used to be called the golden boy, he had it all and was about to close the business deal of a lifetime and marry the woman of his dreams. But everything falls apart when a faceless enemy wants to destroy his family’s empire and see him dead. Isla MacDonald isn’t walking away from Evan just because he’s decided to shut her out of his life but when all her attempts to see him fail, she tries to resume her life. But when someone tries to kill her and she needs a bodyguard, Evan steps up and insists on protecting her.

The second book in the ‘Endgame Trilogy’ is continues to engage readers with lots of thrills and emotional turmoil that draws readers in and refuses to let go. The chemistry between Evan and Isla oozes appealing electrical currents that readers can practically feel but this relationship is quite rocky due to the events that took place in the previous book (this book could be read as a standalone but to get the full impact of this relationship, it should be read in sequence). The after math and the rocky relationship has lots of emotions flowing from the pages that really gives readers a feel for what these strong, bold characters are going through and makes the characters as well as the story come alive.

The plot is a fast paced, suspenseful buildup of adrenaline pumping events that keep readers on the edge of their seat and holding their breath with anticipation and the surprising twists ensures that readers can’t possibly predict any outcome or guess just who the bad guy is during this shocking and exhilarating read.

Isla and Evan were the perfect couple, very much in love and looking forward to planning their wedding, but that was before Evan was badly injured in an explosion and things quickly spiralled out of control. Not wanting Isla to be stuck with a damaged man and also blaming himself for the death of her father, who was killed in the same explosion, Evan chose to push Isla away. He refused to even see or speak to her and broke her heart at a time when she needed him the most. Isla never wanted to give up on Evan but after weeks of no contact she realises that it's probably time for her to try and move on with her own life. Until she finds herself in danger that is. There's no way that Evan can leave Isla unprotected and the more time they spend together the more he realises what a terrible mistake he made in pushing her away but can he convince her to give him another chance?

We already met both Isla and Evan in the previous book, Bishop's Knight, so I was pleased that we were getting their story next. I kind of wanted to shake some sense into Evan for the way he was treating Isla in the previous book. He was doing that macho thing of trying to protect her by pushing her away but it was obvious that he was just making things even worse for both of them so it was incredibly frustrating to watch. I'm glad we got to see part of the story from his point of view because it made it much easier to forgive him for his stupidity, we get to see just how much he is struggling to deal with both his injuries and the survivors guilt he feels at making it out alive when so many others, including Isla's father, died. Evan made some dumb choices and he did hurt Isla because of that but it was easier to forgive him because we saw exactly what he was going through too.

Luckily it doesn't take him long to realise his mistake either and then he goes all out to win Isla back and to prove that she can trust him again. I could equally understand why Isla was wary of getting her heart broken again, not only did she lose her father in terrible circumstances but at the same time the one person she should have been able to rely on the most walked away and abandoned her too. She tried to hard to get through to Evan in the beginning but he was stubborn to the core and didn't even have the guts to explain things face to face. I found myself really rooting for these two to sort things out and get back together though. They were a great couple and the chemistry between them was palpable, even when they weren't really on speaking terms. I'm glad Isla made Evan work a bit to win her back but I was definitely happy to see them back on the same page.

Bishop's Queen was everything I was looking for, there's a strong romance with great characters plus a hint of danger alongside a mystery that kept me guessing who the bad guys were. I'm really looking forward to the final book in the trilogy where we'll finally get to know the third Bishop sibling better and hopefully see him clear his name.

Bishop's Queen by Katie Reus is book Two in the Endgame Trilogy Series. This is the story of Isla MacDonald and Evan Bishop. I have read the previous book which added to my enjoyment of this one but I do feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Evan was said to have it all but a bomb that was to kill him ended up disfiguring him making him go into hiding and leaving the Isla the women he loved behind. Evan also blames himself for Isla's father death who died in the explosion which adds to his misery. Isla tired to get Evan back but he isn't letting go of the pain that he has. When she steps up to try to take over her father's work it ends up putting her life in danger that brings Evan out of hiding to protect Isla as her fiancé / body guard. Enjoyed their story and this series.

After Bishop's Knight I was very happy to see the story of Ethan Bishop in Bishop's Queen. In Evie's story we had already seen that Ethan was recovering from a bombing which also caused the death of his fiancees father. Recovering with massive scars all over his body, he refused to see his fiancee Isla.
In Bishop's Queen Isla tries to move on after the bombing. She has buried her father and she has taken over his responsibilities in the company. Ever since Ethan has refused to see her, she has done business with his assistant and co-workers. Because her father and Ethan where on the verge of a merger when the bombing happened. Still not sure to the culprit behind the attack, she feels scared and lonely. Fortunately, Gino, one of partners of the companies she is working with is there for her. He has the reputation of being a womanizer, but he is actually quite sweet.
When there are some incidents, where Isla is mugged and her office is burglarized, Ethan steps up. After seeing Isla with Gino, he decides it is time to get his head out of his ass and beg for forgiveness. And he is determined to keep Isla save. Therefore he tells the media that the engagement is no longer off, but will go through. Resulting in more attacks, not only on Isla's life, but also on his life.
Isla doesn't know what to make of Ethan's behavior. It almost seems like he is jealous of Gino. (Although nothing is going on with her and Gino). And since Ethan has put Isla out of his life, he certainly doesn't have the right to barge back into her life. But she can't help but still feel attracted to him.
Will they find out, who is after Isla? And will Ethan be able to rescue her in time? Find out for yourself in this read full of suspense, guild, romance, action and humor. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc. I'll be keeping an eye out for the last story of Ellis!

4.25stars--BISHOP’S QUEEN is the second instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult ENDGAME erotic, romantic suspense trilogy focusing on the Bishop siblings-Evie, Evan and Ellis Bishop. This is thirty-eight year old, businessman and former Marine Evan Bishop, and twenty-eight year old, Isla McDonald’s storyline. BISHOP’S QUEEN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s Red Stone Security series.

Told from three third person perspectives including Evan and Isla BISHOP’S QUEEN picks up immediately after the events of book one Bishop’s Knight, and follows the rebuilding relationship between thirty-eight year old, businessman and former Marine Evan Bishop, and twenty-eight year old, Isla McDonald. Months earlier a bomb killed Isla McDonald’s father and seriously injured the man that she loved but in the ensuing months, Evan Bishop pushed Isla McDonald out of his life believing he was responsible for her father’s death. Fast forward to present day wherein Isla has taken over her father’s business, and in doing so, has become the target of an unknown stalker. Still in love with Isla McDonald, Evan becomes guardian and protector of our story line heroine. What ensues is the second chance romance between Isla and Evan, and the potential fall-out as Isla’s stalker is intent on destroying her life, along with the lives of anyone who interferes

Evan Bishop is scarred both inside and out, and in this our hero struggles with his place in Isla McDonald’s life. Unable to come to terms with the bombing, at his building, that took the life of his fiancee’s father business magnate Douglas McDonald, Evan battles between head and heart believing he was unable to protect the woman he loved. Isla McDonald never wanted to take over the family business but her father’s death forced our heroine to become CEO and boss of a company she had been hoping to leave, a company that would become ground zero for the attack against her life.

The relationship between Evan and Isla is one of second chances; a rebuilding romance between two people torn apart by jealousy and betrayal; vengeance and madness. Evan Bishop has never stopped loving Isla McDonald, and with new threats against her life, Evan becomes both protector and lover to the woman with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are re-introduced to Evan’s sister Evie and her husband Dylan Blackwood (Bishop’s Knight #1), as well as Detective Carlito Duarte. The reader is introduced to businessman Geno Conti; head of security Logan Masters; senior executive Madeleine, and IT specialist Oliver Mulaney, and Isla’s mother Sophia McDonald. Evan’s brother, DEA Agent Ellis Bishop having been framed for a murder he did not commit, remains on the run-his story is next in the final instalment-Bishop’s Endgame.

BISHOP’S QUEEN is a story of one man’s obsession taken too far; of one couple’s fight for their relationship and love. The character driven premise is intriguing and engaging; the characters are stubborn, captivating and determined; the romance is provocative and intense. A great instalment in Katie Reus ENDGAME Trilogy.

Usually I love Katie Reus’ books but this one wasn’t as strong for me. It was a quick read but wasn’t enough for 4 stars.

This is the second book of the trilogy and it doesn’t disappoint. We met the Bishop family in book one, Bishop’s Knight. Evan Bishop had it all. A building family business, a loving family, a beautiful fiancee. But then someone tried to destroy it all in one nightmare. He almost lost his life and couldn’t be a burden to the woman he was supposed to marry. He was responsible, or so he thought, for her losing her father and almost the entire business. Lots of parallel stories are going on and you really have to start at the beginning to follow along.

I always love series, where you get invested in the family or the characters and continue to watch them change and grow. Katie Reus does this very well and the Endgame trilogy is another winner.

Bishop’s Queen by Katie Reus
Endgame Trilogy #2

Two months apart doesn’t seem to have quenched the flame that burns between Evan Bishop and Isla Mac Donald. He may have broken off with his fiance and she may have tried to put the relationship behind her but when they see one another again...what will happen?

Isla is set on making deals go through that her father had set in play before he was killed in a bomb blast. For the past two months she has been working hard to achieve that goal. Evan has been working on overcoming the injuries he sustained in that same bomb blast and also trying to forget Isla. Well, the two do NOT forget one another and in this book soon find there is someone behind mysterious happenings at Isla’s business and in her life. Evan steps in to keep her safe and help solve the mystery and of course, proximity to one another and time together soon leads them back to fanning the embers that were only sleeping while they were apart.

The mystery is eventually solved and the two do move on to their HEA ending as the final book in the series is set up that will deal with Ellis, the brother of Evie and Evan, who has been missing after being accused of something heinous.

Did I enjoy this book? Not as much as the first book
Why? It was less dramatic and more of a second chance romance AND I didn’t feel Isla made Evan grovel enough.
Do I want to read book three in the series? Yes
Why? I want to find out where Ellis has been and what his story is.
What else? I am curious about Geno Conti and would LOVE a book about him ;)

Thank you to NetGalley and InkSlinger PR for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Bishop's Queen by Katie Reus is a well written and entertaining read.

The storyline held my interest all throughout the book, it's well paced, enough drama and suspense to keep you turning the pages and I loved watching Bishop and Isla reconnect and get their second chance at love.
These two have amazing chemistry and they totally deserved their happily ever after the pain and hurt they'd been through.

Bishop's Queen is an excellent addition to the Endgame trilogy and I highly recommend it.
Looking forward to Elli's book in Bishop's Endgame.

Bishop's Queen is a fantastic story. Excellent writing and a good storyline. I really enjoyed it. Nice overall book

Bishop’s Queen by Katie Reus is the second book in the End Game trilogy and continues the story begun in Bishop’s Knight. After surviving an explosion that resulted in several deaths including his fiancee’s father Evan Bishop is hiding his scarred face from the world. His survivor’s guilt has made him dump Isla MacDonald thinking that he doesn’t deserve her and that she must somehow blame him for her father. Isla is slowly coming to terms with his decision and is slowly winding up her father’s affairs, trying to honour the deals he had started. When a series of incidents lead police to believe her life is in danger Evan is forced to see past his guilt and realise just how empty his life would be without Isla in it even if it just as friends.

I love how this author can write a story that’ll grab your attention from the first page. I had my suspicions about who Isla’s stalker was - and was completely wrong. The actual culprit never even crossed my mind as a suspect but at the same time, the way the plot had been developed who he was, was totally believable – I hate books where you have to suspend belief when the villain is unveiled because the author has opted for a character that has barely been mentioned. It just seems a lazy option to me. The only niggle I have is with the reasons Evan had for dumping Isla. I would’ve loved a big scene where she pulled him up for his shallowness. After all if he thinks she wouldn’t want him because of his scars does this mean if roles were reversed and she was somehow disfigured then he would no longer want to be with her?

Although this book is part of a series it can be read as a standalone and has no cliff-hangers involving the hero and heroine.

This is Evan Bishop's and Isla's story. After reading book one I kind of felt bad for Isla and I am glad that Evan realized how wrong he was to turn her away. Isla proved to be a strong woman after the way Evan treated her, even though her love for him never died. Isla is being targeted and when Evan finds out he takes matter into his own hands to protect her. During this course, Evan realizes how foolish and stupid he had been and begs for Isla's forgiveness. Isla does not make it easy for him but she knows she still loves him. Filled with suspense, action, previous characters we all know and love, along with some hot sexy scenes, is true to form for Ms. Reus's stories. Loved it! 4 stars****

This is the second book about the Bishop siblings. I will admit I had to go back and Re read the first book to get a feeling for this book. Although each book is a standalone, I wanted a reference point to this story. Evan is the oldest sibling, and was caught in a bomb at his office. He had a girlfriend who he basically shunned while in the hospital recovering from the bomb blast and this becomes their story. Lots of conflict, a psychopath who is out to capture the ex girlfriend, Isla, and Evan’s remorse about shunning her and wanting her back. An enjoyable read, and a plausible plot. I always enjoy a good Katie Reus romantic suspense. She writes a believable storyline, and if you like a bit of suspense with your romance, a fun read.

Evan Bishop had it all -- fantastic job with a new deal about to close and the love of a good woman he was about to marry. The bomb that tore through his building changed everything in an instant. He pushed away his fiance, afraid she would consider him a burden, or blame him for her father’s death. His isolation is what he feels he deserves after surviving the blast.

Isla McDonald had her dreams put on hold by the blast that killed her father and injured her fiance. But when Evan wakes up, her dreams are further smashed when he refuses to see her. She is doing what she can to finish the deals her father was working on at the time of his death, but she is also looking forward to the day when she can turn the business over to people who love it more than she does. In working her father’s accounts, she finds someone is out to get her, though she isn’t sure who or for what.

Evan’s remorse when he learns that Isla is in continued danger, even without him in her life, has him working to repair the damage he created in their relationship. He also realizes he was a fool to push her away in the first place. His protective nature kicks in and he won’t take no for an answer when it becomes clear she needs security around her while they determine who and where the threat is coming from.

Frankly, I was expecting a more emotional journey to reconnect with the buildup to their break that we watched in the first book. Though it hurt to watch them fall apart, they came together fairly seamlessly and the bigger issue quickly became the stalker threat to Isla. I did enjoy watching Evan’s protective side kick in as he worked to get himself over the new scarring he had been hiding behind.

I am looking forward to Ellis’s book to see how the entire storyline is wrapped up. He has been in hiding, wanted for a murder we have been led to believe he did not commit. I can’t wait to see what he has been hiding or investigating as he stayed away from his brother and sister while so much was going on in their lives.

I received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Bishop and Isla’s story is a suspenseful 2nd chance romance. There’s spying, stalking, blackmail, sabotage and murder. In typical Katie Reus style, the MCs have sizzling chemistry and were both easy to like and root for. The story was definitely entertaining but it was missing that something extra for me.

I definitely felt for Isla. She loved Bishop and never really stopped, even after he cut her out so completely. She was a strong heroine who was by no means a push over or a doormat. She was dealing and moving on and I thought that was refreshing. After losing her dad and then her fiancé, she had to learn to stand on her own and I loved her determination to do that.

Bishop … I get where he’s coming from but I felt disconnected from him. His reasons for breaking things off with Isla were explained and they made sense but I just didn’t feel like it fit his personality. He was so straight forward and honest in his dealings that I couldn’t understand why he wouldn’t be like that with his best friend/love of his life. Their break is also pretty recent, only a few months have passed so he gets points for not waiting too long to get her back.

The mystery of who is out to get Isla was interesting and I liked the guessing game of who it could be. I also loved that this pushed Bishop into protective mode when it came to Isla. KR knows how to write a possessive and completely besotted hero and Bishop was extra motivated to prove he was sorry and deserved a second chance.
