“The Holdout”, by Graham Moore, is one of the best books I’ve read this year!! The book centers around Maya Seale, who is the lone holdout in a sensational murder trial Ten years later, the jury reunites, and all hell breaks loose. This is not your typical cookie-cutter courtroom drama, as the book turns in so many directions, and just when you think you know what’s going on, it just explodes in another direction, right up to the final pages. Truly a great read, interesting characters, and a killer ending. Quite a book!
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through @NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Graham Moore has a knack for dialogue and characterization, important when crafting courtroom thrillers. The Holdout features a above average plot with two murder mysteries, one a closed room that isn't locked and the other a timely issue. By constructing this around the personalities of a sequestered jury and the aftermath of a notorious trial, Moore manages to keep many balls in the air, raising ethical issues as approached from many directions. Well done.

I loved this mystery novel. The flashbacks were fascinating and the plot was fast paced. I honestly had no idea who the "killer" would be until the final pages - my theories kept changing and I literally could not put the novel down. As far as crime novels go, this one is amazing!

Note: There is some strong language in this novel.

A really great jury duty/ murder that doesn't disappoint. The story goes back and forth through the years, but author makes it flow perfectly. What a gem!

Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free,it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.
