This book was a joy to read. First, for the fact that was a time travel. Second, the style and plot was nicely presented in form of a reverse story.
The author made this book enjoyable because my reading just flew through the pages like an eagle flying! Highly recommended!

I just didn't like this book, going back and forth in time travel isn't for me, I believe the title is a bit misleading. if you like the historical romances like this with a tad of scifi feel to it, then this is for you. I'm more fond of regency romances.

I am a big fan of time travel stories and this was right up my alley!
Catherine Page, historical romance writer, has created a character in Daniel Lockhart that she and all of her fans are a little in love with. When she goes to a little bookstore for a signing, Daniel comes to life through the help of a magical bookmark. At first Catherine thinks that someone is playing a prank on her, but soon comes to realize that Daniel is in fact straight out of the pages of her best selling novel.
We follow Catherine and Daniel as they fall in love. Neither knowing if Daniel will be pulled back into the story and disappear forever. What an entertaining read!
I really enjoyed reading Catherine and Daniel's story and now feel the need to read A Soldier's Poem, to learn Jack and Benetta's story.
I highly recommend the purchase of this story. Even if you are not a time travel fan, you will enjoy reading this story.

Headline: Author's storybook hero comes to life.

Catherine catches on pretty quick that the hero of the book she has written has some how come to life. Daniel on the other hand, thinks that he traveled though time. What happens when he learns the truth??

I really enjoyed Catherine and Daniel's story! It is always interesting to see someone try to navigate a time period in which they didn't grow up in. It's one of the reasons I like reading time travel stories. This was another great read from Douglan!

Yass! A historical romance about a novelist was always going to be right up my street and this didn't disappoint. Loved it!

This was a cute and kind of reverse take on the time-travel romance. I love time travel romances but not real fond of the person from the past coming to my present. I just find myself cringing so badly, but that is just a personal preference. I did enjoy the story and it was a fast, fun read where I didn't cringe too much. LOL. Would read more from Douglan!!

A cute premise which is mostly executed. While I think there's a bit of wishful thinking (re: the levels of fame a debut romance author achieves), there is a lot that is fun to read. The inclusion of the magical elements was also fun, but I do think the tension between the hero/heroine could be better developed. Based on this novel, I would probably pick up another book by this author.

Thank you, NetGalley for providing me with a free copy to read and review.

This book follows esteemed author Catherine Paige, who is currently struggling to write a sequel to match her beloved debut. She visits a bookshop for a signing (a magical bookshop...) and unwittingly brings the romantic male lead of her novel to life...from 1800s London to modern day New York City...

I was anticipating endless steamy scenes and chemistry-a-plenty, but we didn't get our first (of two) steamy scenes until about 60% through. It's not usually a make or break thing with me...but it kind of is in an adult romance

Despite that, I did still enjoy this book! I was chuckling out loud at some parts (especially when Daniel first finds himself in NY) and was compelled to get through the story (primarily in anticipation of steamy scenes). It was also well written and I enjoyed the characters, especially Daniel

This book attracted me as it had two things I enjoy reading
1) Book character coming to life
2) Regency man in modern world

The book was very easy read. I got what I expected from it. The characters are not very inspiring or intriguing but they are good. Language and writing style is good. The romance wasn't swoon worthy, but the concept of fiction character coming to life made up for it (at least for me).

I love time-travel books but this one was a novel take on this genre. ‘The Novelist’s Rake’ follows regency romance author Catherine Paige who has written a novel after her breakup with her boyfriend. She creates Daniel Lockhard, who turns into everyone’s romantic male. It is only after a book signing that Daniel actually walks into her life. Confused by what is happening, Catherine begins to question whether Daniel is for real, or whether he will disappear at any moment. Daniel is blissfully unaware of how he has landed in the 21st century, but finds himself enthralled by Catherine, a woman who looks very similar to a woman he left behind in Regency London.
This was such a delightful story that I read it in one sitting. I was so captivated by this novel storyline, Daniel was so much the perfect male that I even found myself enthralled, as Catherine appears to do. This was such a whirlwind of a story that I found myself smiling throughout. Daniel and Catherine’s romance was electric. Ava Douglan, a combination of authors, are on my list of authors to watch as they had me entertained throughout. A must read!
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
