Eliza is a student in her early 20's who ends up befriending a lonely older lady called Ada and the two strike up an unlikely friendship. The chapters alternate between Ada and Eliza as you see the story from both their sides. I found that this book took too long to get into. At times its a really sweet story but overall it becomes a bit of a chore. I found that I didn't really connect with either of the characters and it doesn't stick with me as a memorable read.
I read another novel with a similar plot to this recently and, unfortunately, this was not the better one. It's slow to start and, right from the first page, you get an info dump of people and places and names - it all feels a bit scattered and unfocused. Not for me.
There has been an awful lot of books in this genre published recently and unfortunately this wasn't one of the best. Slow to start I quickly lost interest in it.
Really enjoyed this book thank you. Vibrant, believable, characters and an absorbing plot. I will ensure I look out for this author in the future!
Not really my cup of tea.
It felt very slow to get started, and neither of the main characters appealed to me.
By the time they were finally interacting,I'd lost interest in the book.
Looking for Eliza by Leaf Arbuthnot is a novel similar to others that focus on a lonely old person befriending a lonely young person. It wasn't really to my personal taste.
