I like a time-slip fantasy, but I found that this one was a little underwhelming, and I only made it half way before getting too fed up with the characters' lack of agency.

It's pretty hard to tell what's going on in the other world, as neither Kate nor Lynn is ever really given an explanation of where they are - they are just expected, as women, to put up and shut up. In fact, for most of the first half of the book, they are pretty incidental to their own stories. I also didn't love that the story kept flicking back to the real world, as I felt it took time away from the other world, preventing me from getting fully immersed in what was going on. I ended up not really caring about anyone at all. DNFed at 50%.
