This book appealed to me on so many levels. It was the perfect combination of romance novel meets rom-com film. Evie is a romantic and honestly believes she can fall in love like in the movies. She's also chasing a well-deserved promotion in a company run by a man stuck in the 50s when it comes to women in the workplace. Her main client Ezra is being difficult and living up to his nickname of NOB (Number One Boychild). She has all this to cope with when Ezra issues his challenge to fall in love like in the movies or he won't finish his manuscript.

The characters were all delightful, Evie so naive and romantic but suffering one humiliation after another and still believing she can meet Ezra's challenge. Ezra was also great fun despite being a NOB. You somehow want him to succeed with his script yet get the ending he deserved really.
We first meet Evie on a meet-cute in a coffee shop and whilst disasters ensue, we also meet the quietly interesting Ben and his delightful daughter Anette. Just unlucky to be in the coffee shop at the same time as disaster strikes, Anette becomes enthralled with Evie's challenge which means Ben is unwittingly drawn into the madness. Anette's disability (deafness) is treated positively yet not constantly referred to, it's just part of who she is which I found was a nice way to handle it yet inclusive.

The meet-cutes were funny yet predictable but it was the way Evie handled them all that tickled me. How she shares the stories with Anette and Ben, and also her trio of best friends with whom she is trying to plan the perfect hen party for one of them which goes hysterically wrong and it's Ben to the rescue.

I think the only possible downside to this book was the evident parallels with Bridget Jones. The three friends, 2 girls and 1 gay guy, the annoying work male (Ezra vs Hugh Grant) and the quiet charming male vs the arrogant philanderer (Hugh/Colin vs Ben/Ezra), right down to the playground-style fight between the two. It didn't stop the book from being enjoyable as I also loved Bridget Jones, however, the similarity was glaringly obvious, and the author is clearly a fan of the film. If you're not then this book is not for you.

For me, it was a glorious riot of mishaps and romance and I loved it.

I enjoyed this rom com, with so many of the tropes I recognise from the screen in its pages. However, I found it a little difficult to get into at the beginning, and I feel the book could have been shortened by about 150 pages.

Unfortunately I had to purchase a new Kindle device and could no longer access this book. I will come back and review if I read this in the future.

This was a cute rom-com style read, which kept me entertained one rainy Sunday afternoon. As with a lot of books/movies in this genre, parts of it were slightly silly, frothy or unbelievable. However, if I'm completely honest, I found I didn't much care. I picked it up wanting a feel good read, and on that front it very much delivered.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.

The best book I’ve read in months. A super original premise, and not predictable at all. I loved the way it was written and Evie is a very likeable lead, Ezra is the perfect villain. Can’t recommend this enough!

I didn’t enjoy this. I struggled to relate with the maim character and therefore didn’t enjoy the story at all.

Who doesn’t love a good meet-cute? Or five? This is a very cute and silly book, definitely a perfect light hearted comfort read! ‘Hot widower’ Ben and his spunky daughter Anette were such a great addition to the book, along with Evie’s amazingly supportive friends. The story held my interest- although I was a bit confused as to where it was headed in the beginning. Between Evie’s meet cutes, Monty and NOB’s antics, and adorable Anette and Ben, made for the perfect rom-com that will make you laugh, scream, and awe.

LOVED IT! Rachel Winters’ debut was a true laugh out loud romcom. I cannot remember the last time I laughed so hard while reading a book, there is the most hilarious hen do/bachelor party ever in this fun story. This book is instantly being put on my FAVs shelf, I just loved everything about it, it was the perfect mood lifter during these crazy times. Evie is assistant to a famous agent and has been tasked with the job to make sure screenwriter Ezra finishes his romcom script on time. Ezra is difficult and arrogant, Evie and her friends have nicknamed him the N.O.B. The number one boyChild. Ezra tells Evie he will finish his script on time if she can prove to him that she can actually meet someone through one of these ridiculous romcom meet cutes. Let the fun ensue. Evie manufactures one hilarious yet humiliating meet cute after another and reports back to Ezra. Will Ezra finish the script on time? Will Evie finally get her long due promotion? Will one of these crazy meet cutes actually work? A definite feel good story guaranteed to make you laugh and want to rewatch all your favorite romcoms.

Would Like To Meet is a feel-good, laugh-out-loud book that fans of romantic comedies won't be able to put down.

After working for seven years as an assistant, Evie Summers wants to get the promotion she deserves. However, the agency she works for - and has been running behind-the-scenes - is now in trouble, and she faces losing her job unless she can convince Ezra Chester, their biggest and most arrogant client, to finish writing the script for a Hollywood romantic comedy.

There's just one problem: Ezra's got writer's block. And he tells Evie that he'll only start working if she can prove to him once and for all that it is possible to fall in love like they do in the movies.

As she enacts meet cutes from classic romantic comedies, Evie finds herself in one embarrassing situation after another - and is forced to confront her relationship history, and what may have changed her perspective on love.

Warm, heartwarming and all-around comforting, Would Like To Meet is the kind of cosy read that you'll find impossible to put down.

I would like to thank NetGalley fora copy of this book to read and review.
Would Like To Meet is a funny read I quite literally laughed out loud. The descriptions and plot seems so real and was easy to pictures happening.
A great read for any rom com fans out there.

The ultimate of meet cutes, every Tom com version of a meet cute is a disastrous Act for Evie but funny for the reader.
I didn’t enjoy the script style chapter openings but can see why they were written that way.
The story is cute and overall fairly enjoyable with enough humour to make it an easy read.
The friendships for Evie didn’t come out enough and felt as though they lacked a little depth, it was nice to see though in a romance not everyone is ultimately good or supports a happy ending

This was cute. Something that I needed today. Just a nice easy little story that I didn’t have to think too much about.

It’s been ages since I’ve read a rom com like this. The premise was ok. Kept my interest but.....the beginning was so slow. It took half the book to pick up pace.

Varied amount of emotions.

I think if the first half of the book had as much pace as the second half it would have got higher stars. It was easy to read, but a bit tedious in places. If that makes sense? My mind started wandering. But like I said, soon as it picked up half way I was enjoying it much better.

Really cute, I liked the humour and warmth of this. The "meet cute" is a great romantic fiction trope, and it was twisted nicely. There was a slightly dark undertone that gave it a bite and made the ending even more satisfying.

Would Like to Meet follows assistant Evie purposely trying out different meet cutes from films to get a man fall in love with her. However, she is doing this for a good cause- to help her agency’s biggest client overcome his writer’s block.

I really enjoyed this book. It was an entertaining read and I liked Evie (even though she was a bit of a doormat) as well as the supporting cast of characters. Her friends Jeremy, Maria and Sarah were fun and added an extra layer to Evie and her life and I think this made her more realistic; her café friends Ben and Anette were sweet as well.

Although I could see where this book was heading and who the love interest was likely to be, I do not think that is a bad thing. My one real criticism is that I wish there were more scenes with her love interest (romantic and general) and also a longer ending/longer epilogue as I wanted to see more of her life with him.

Overall I enjoyed this book and seeing how each meet cute played out; I think it would transfer well to film!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Orion for providing an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Evie loves screenwriting, however, once badly criticised, she stopped writing and now is working as an assistant to a very ungrateful agent, is overworked and underpaid. She's desperate for promotion and doesn't seem to notice that her boss takes her for granted. But now she has her chance - Ezra Chester, the hot name in screenwriting, is their client and now it's up to Evie to make him deliver the long awaited second script for a rom - com. Evie nicknamed Ezra NOB - Number One Boychild, and it's not without a reason. And so, now, she has to find out if you can fall in love in real life just like couples seem to do in the movies, save the agency and bag herself a promotion to an agent. Easy peasy, right?
No. Disastrous results on the horizon.

I couldn't believe that Evie really wanted to recreate all the most famous meet - cutes from Hollywood movies, to be honest. But that's true, and when I finally believed that yes, it is actually what this book is about, I was so intrigued and curious to see them all and how they're going to work out in real life. And well, some of them ended hilarious, some of them ended disastrous but altogether, even for me, not the hugest movies fan, it was a real joy.

I liked Evie and her life approach, the way she didn't take herself so seriously, though there were moments that I wanted to bang her head on the closest wall. Sometimes she behaved as if she was spineless, she let people tramp over her and treat her like a doormat, and it didn't sit well with me, and I didn't understand why she allows for such things to happen - because in other situations she was bold, brave and sharp - minded. However, our Evie is such a lovely and warm person, even if sometimes a shitty friend, that you'll find yourself rooting for her and hoping she'll find success and happy ending.
Evie is surrounded by a group of brilliant friends with a Bridget Jones' vibe - there is of course the gay best friend. They are always there to help her when needed, even if Evie keeps forgetting them. Her friends were fabulous, not only as friends but as well developed characters. Each of them with a huge personality and distinctive voice, and each of them with their own story, as interesting as Evie's. What I really liked, and what we don't often get in books, is the fact that they weren't afraid to tell Evie when she messed up. And you can't help but immediately fall for Annette and her dad Ben, even though he was blowing hot and cold, and those two turned out to be Evie's hugest cheerleaders in the matter of her meet - cutes. Even if they involved projectile vomiting.

I also liked what the author did with the romance aspect in this story. For a long time there was this possibility of a love - triangle, and it was not obvious who Evie is going to end up with - until the very last moment actually.
The end, in comparison to the whole story, felt rushed and I didn't like some of the things that happened before it. Sure, there is a message hidden there, and all the bad guys get what they deserve but it was painful to see what Evie has to put with.

At first I had huge problems to get into the book - no idea why, to be honest, I just couldn't click with the plot and the writing style, and the character, I couldn't understand why Evie allows her boss to treat her like this, just think about #MeeToo and you'll know what I mean, and yes, I was a bit confused. But then, all my initial problems simply disappeared and I started to enjoy the story immensely - I think I just needed to get used to the writing and the way the story was told and come to terms with the plot. There were lots of clichés in this novel, this must be said, but I also think it couldn't be different, with the way the plot has been developing, and it really didn't bother me so much and it was really too much fun for me to care about it.

"Would Like to Meet" was an event - packed, funny and light - hearted story with hidden depth that I enjoyed very much. It was a lovely and bumpy journey to self - appreciation, allowing us to get deeper into some certain toxic issues but through the prism of humour. It's a story that shows you that it's not always the happy end that you so strongly needs that is enough but that you must feel happy with yourself and stay true to yourself.
This book is filled with disastrous and hilarious situations that yes, will make you roll your eyes and that, yes, are mostly unbelievable, and yes, it's a bit cheesy and over the top but it's the strength of this debut and you simply have to go with the flow. I adored it, it was just what the doctor ordered and I am already looking towards Rachel Winters' next offer. Truly, highly recommended!

In need of a book that will make you laugh and cheer you up? Then you need to pick up this amazing novel. I laughed so much and I couldn’t stop reading as the protagonist of the story, Evie Summers, tries recreate the funny and terrible scenarios typical of rom-com movies to help a famous Hollywood screenwriter overcome his writer block. From dubious book clubs to disastrous coffee-spills and catastrophic road trips, Evie’s adventures had me with tears in my eyes from laughing.

What a fantastic cast of characters the author created: the protagonist, Evie, is funny and determined and I found myself relating to her because, like her, I do love rom-com movies (I don’t know how many times I’ve watched The Proposal, Friends With Benefits, and How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days). Then, there is adorable young Anette who swears in French and likes to match make, her dark and serious father Ben, and Evie’s best friends, Jeremy, Sarah, and Maria whose WhatsApp messages with Evie where some of my favourite part of the novel. I also liked annoying-but-also-funny Oscar winning screenwriter Ezra. His email exchange with Evie created many hilarious moments.

I enjoyed how the author opens each chapter with a movie script that sets the scene in a way that lets you imagine the entire scene in the head like if it was a real rom-com movie.

Would Like To Meet is a witty and refreshing story that will keep you entertained for a few hours and will make you laugh page after page with its amazing characters, its engaging plot, and the author’s captivating writing style.

My thoughts: This book had been on my radar for a while, it seemed really popular with people on booktube and sounded right up my street!

We follow Evie who has been given the task of making her bosses biggest client finish the script he’s been promising the directors for years, they’ve given them a final ultimatum of 3 months or they pull the contract, with her job on the line, can she achieve something that feels impossible?

Ezra makes a deal with Evie that if she can prove that you can fall in love just like the movies then he will write the script. Evie takes the bull by the horns and starts setting up ‘meetcutes’ to prove that if can be done!

I loved Evie’s character, she seemed meek and not one to rock the boat, but throughout the book she turned into a strong woman who knew what she wanted and how to get it too.

Ezra was a really unlikeable character and in my opinion didn’t get better as the book went on, but I liked that because it gave the book a realistic feel.

The story has so many elements to it, it was more than just your average romance, it covered death of a loved one and grief from at least 3 different angles, heartbreak, love but above all the uncertainty of life in general, because after all things don’t always go the way you plan or expect!

The main questions in the story are is it possible to get your life back after losing someone you love in one of the worst ways possible?

Does love really creep up on you when you least expect it?

I was swept along with the story and thoroughly enjoyed discovering the answers, I cannot recommend this story enough
