I received this book from NetGalley in exchange of an honest review.

I'm honestly hooked to this world! Thank you, NetGalley, for this extract, because it made me fall in love with this story. Maddie is an awesome and interesting main character, hopefully heir of Havenfall, that is an inn, a crossroads between realms. The idea of a safe place, where people from different realms could meet and visit is amazing and thrilling. I can't wait to read this whole book and to know more about Maddie, Taya and everything else.

I first heard about this book at BookCon 2019. Everyone was waiting in line for the extract and I just squealed when the opportunity to read it came up here. Everything about this book screams odd and dark and tempting in a way that all things are when you know you aren't supposed to do it.

The story starts with such a normal mundane act. Waiting for a bus at a lonely station. But Maddie's voice is so distinct and clear that you start to see the world as she does and when she starts to remember her mother and the taste and smell of the things that happened to her, it's so compelling that it takes effort to stop reading it. The extract stops just before she makes it to the inn but through Sara Hollands writing it almost feels like you've been there before and as a reader, it makes it easy to want to go to the inn. To live there and speak to the people who do.

I can't wait to read the full book, it's been on my list since June. I recommend this to anyone who loves stories about our world with just enough odd to make it seem like a whole new enchanting place.

While it was only an extract, it seems promising and I hopefully will enjoy the rest of it as much as I think it will. Previous reads from Sara Holland fell flat in later halves, so I am hopeful that this concept and story will be vibrant as it surely seems lively enough to keep the reader invested and excited the entire read. I am anxiously counting down the days until the book is realized.

Oh my god I am hooked. I cannot wait until I can grab the book off the store's shelves and just read it until I finish.

After reading just two chapters I want to read all the book, I think it will be one of my favorite books of 2020

I was given a two chapter excerpt of this book to read and let me begin by saying that the authors attention to detail is incredible. In just those two chapters the world she has built already feels tangible and I already feel the beginnings of an attachment to the main character Maddie. From what I have read so far the book if fast paced and hard to put down. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the book and reviewing it in it's entirety.

First: look at that cover! That would look fine on any shelf. I'm in love.
Secondly: Those two chapters in the sampler were enough to make me want to read this ASAP. I want a good magical book and I think this might be it.

This cover is gorgeous! After reading the first two chapters of "Havenfall," I can officially say that I'm hooked to the storyline. I love the darkness and mystery surrounding the town of Haven. Sara Holland does a fantastic job of crafting a new and unique world. I'm really loving Taya's character and her snarky comments. I can't wait to read the whole thing; I'm sure this book will exceed my expectations!

Thank you, NetGalley, Bloomsbury YA, and Sara Holland, for allowing me to read this extract in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

For Starters the cover of this novel is beautiful.

I was really excited when I saw that Sarah Holland had a new novel coming out because I loved her first two (and she herself is so sweet and I was lucky enough to meet her in 2018). My only bummer about this was that I only received part of the novel because I want to know what else happens! Even with it only being a few chapters I was still sucked into Maddie's story and I don't think I can wait another two months to see what else happens. Fingers crossed I get approved for the full novel!

First of all, this book has a wonderful cover. It's gorgeous, mysterious and it already tells a story on it's own. These first two chapters of Havenfall are really promising. Even though it’s still a little vague and it’s not really clear what’s going to happen and what the story will turn into, the mystery about Havenfall is already there. Maddie hasn’t given away too much information, but just enough to keep us wondering about more. There is a lot of information, but it’s not quite clear where it’ll lead to. I really like to unravel the secrets and the magic from Havenfall.

The cover is beautiful and mysterious, this is what initially drew me in. To be completely honest I hate that this is only an extract. After reading just the first few chapters, I feel like I HAVE to know what happens next. The MC is introduced very well. The look into her backstory gets a reader to want to know more. The mystery needs to be solved. I am excited to see her interactions with her Uncle as well as Brekken. The beginning was so well written that I found myself trying to refresh the book in hopes the rest of the book would magically appear. Now I feel like I need some Havenfall magic to get the rest of the book. This will be on my list of highly anticipated reads for 2020. WAY TO GO SARA HOLLAND!

The extract is good, but it's a very small part of the book, so I don't think I have enough of opinion on this

I don't know why I read this because now I'm sitting here tapping my foot wondering how on Earth I can get my hands on the entire thing. Holland delivers again in the best way and this blurb was hardly fair. I am excited to see the characters grow and develop.

These preview chapters provide a good idea of the tone and plot of the book. So far Maddie seems like a good lead character and one with a story worth continuing to read about. I'm definitely intrigued enough to put this on my reading list for 2020.

This is just the extract, but from what I've read it has a strong beginning that sets up the world and the main character(s). It gives enough backstory and mystery that I'm definitely going to pick this up when it is released. From what I can see, I like the writing as well. Easy to follow and comprehend.

This gorgeous cover is what initially drew me in, but the story definitely did not disappoint. After only reading the couple of chapters, I am in love with the world building, atmosphere and magical feel of Havenfall. This short sample wasn't enough for me to fall in love with the characters- but I can already tell I am going to adore Brekken. Overall, I am so much more excited for this title now and can't wait to read the full thing!

This was an extract from the book & not the complete ARC of the book. It contained the prologue & the 1st chapter. The start of the book is so interesting & mysterious that I was left feeling so so intrigued & now I desperately want to read what happens ahead.

Exciting, can't wait to read the full story. I loved her duology, Everless and can't wait to get stuck into this one.

So the publisher provided 2 chapters from this book. The first few pages were really confusing, and I just couldn't understand what was going on in the story. The story started making sense after 40% and then I understood that Haven was this crossroad between magical realms. It existed on Earth only but it was a place very few visited and those who did forgot about it, when they left the town, natives/locals of the town were exceptions.. so ya I kind of liked the idea of Haven and I was interested in reading about it. It kind of was a place that Maddie used to escape from her "dad and his wife" . If the story develops some magical element where the main protaganist gets to interact with magic herself would be great.

From what I could get from the relations of Maddie was that, she missed her mother and brother. Her dad re-married and no more wanted to take responsibility of his daughter actively, and even judged her for what he thought of Maddie's biological mother. Even her uncle whom she called at Haven to pick her up, seemed to not really care about her? The bus driver cared more for sure.
