A park ranger finds newlyweds Valerie and Tyler Yates dead by a creek near Denton, the stomping ground of our well-loved detective, Josie Quinn.

While Detective Quinn is immediately dispatched to the scene, she’s still trying to come to terms with the news that her abusive mother is dying. Her personal life has to be put to the back-burner though, because Josie suspects there is more to their deaths than what meets the eye. At first glance it seems Tyler and Valerie died of poisoning, maybe by eating the wrong food. But soon it becomes clear they were murdered.

The discovery of a third sleeping bag makes the alarm bells go off. Who is this third person and where are they? Is this another victim, a missing person, or could this be the murderer they’re looking for?

The search for this illusive third person brings Detective Quinn and her team to a farmhouse hidden deep in the woods. A commune for those looking to get away from everyday life and those who want to hide out, for their own reasons…

An Unwilling Group Of Farmhouse Residents
Josie has the huge task ahead of trying to uncover the information she needs from the people living at the farmhouse. People who’d rather not answer her questions. Are they hiding something, or someone? Or are they just not forthcoming because they don’t want to be disturbed?

When a third victim is found, a young girl from the commune, our team has to pick up the pace and work even harder to find the user of the third sleeping bag before more victims turn up.

Series But Standalone
With this seventh instalment of the Josie Quinn series, Lisa Regan created another gripping crime thriller that’s hard to put down. Although the book brings up some things from Josie’s past, it is perfectly readable as a standalone book without losing the plot.

The story left me on the edge of my seat. I just needed to know who this third person was. And just when I thought I had our suspect figured out Lisa had another trick up her sleeve and took the story in a completely different direction.

Suspense until the very end.

If you enjoy reading a good crime thriller, either as a series or as a standalone story. Cold Heart Creek, book 7 of the Detective Josie Quinn series is a must read!

Number seven in the series it is absolutely brilliant!! This book could be read as a standalone but it would benefit if the previous books were read. Lisa Regan is an amazing author who delivers mystery and intrigue in bucket loads!! I would highly recommend not just this book but all of her books! Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this Arc.

Cold Heart Creek the seventh Detective Josie Quinn Book by Lisa Regan was an excellent addition to the series. I enjoyed the mystery and how it included everyone from the previous books and built on the storyline. Josie is one of those kick butt female leads that you love and you as a reader can’t wait to see what she is going to do next and in this book you got to learn more about her childhood and how she was going to deal with with a major event that she had to face about it.
The mystery in this book was also off the charts I interesting and kept me guessing until the end. I love this series and can not wait until the next book comes out.
Cold Heart Creek gets five out of five stars.

Cold Heart Creek is the 7th book in the Detective Josie Quinn series. I recommend reading the previous books before reading this one. I have enjoyed this series so far but for some reason I just couldn't get into this book. Maybe I am just burnt out on thrillers and need to read a different genre. I just couldn't get into this story. There's also something about Josie and Noah's relationship that bothers me. It doesn't feel like they are equal partners.

Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan for a copy of "Cold Heart Creek" in exchange of an honest review.

This is another solid addition to the Josie Quinn series. They are solid police procedurals along with a protagonist with a challenging back story. I have not read the entire series but that did not affect my reading of this book. I am enjoying seeing Josie and the series progress.

Cold Heart Creek is the seventh book from author Lisa Regan to feature Detective Josie Quinn and her team.
Two bodies are discovered on the county border and there is evidence of a third person who has now vanished. The autopsy reveals the couple were murdered so fears for the unidentified female companion are high.
Next, Josie and her lover and fellow detective Noah find a disoriented and scared woman. However, this is NOT the woman who had been camping with her friends. Instead, it is a woman who went missing 2 years ago and alleges she has been held captive by a hermit.
Josie’s investigation into both cases reveals a number of links: could they be coincidence or are the murders, disappearance of one woman and reappearance of another all connected…?
Throughout the book, Josie is haunted by nightmares from her past centred around the abuse she suffered as a child. This has been brought to the fore by her abuser’s imminent death and Josie struggles to maintain focus on the case when her heart is torn by hate and fear.
Noah and Josie’s romantic relationship brings some welcome warmth to the book and I am relieved that they have found each other at last. Both are strong lead characters but have their vulnerability as seen in this and previous books.
I found the Cold Heart Creek plot gripping as my brain tried to negotiate the twists and turns in the story. The demons that Josie is facing made the book very personal and gave me a powerful emotional connection to her.

I absolutely adore this series. Josie is a brilliant character and one who I’ve grown to love. I found this one really creepy and read it quickly because I wanted to know who was responsible. Another hit.

A truly unique and spine-tingling offering by Ms. Regan, perhaps her best to date. The protagonist is a damaged woman herself, and has a special place in her heart for those who've lived through tragedies similar to her own. This tale is an especially haunting one, and the characters are believable and well-drawn. Another excellent book by a truly gifted author. Don't miss it!

Another great book by Lisa Regan. You would think by book #7 in a series the books would be starting to get boring but not this series! Josie is such a great character that you can't help but not want as many books with her in it as possible. The story line is still very different from the rest of the books which I love because I read LOTS of mysteries and they all start sounding alike. I don't know how Lisa Regan does it but she has yet to write a bad book I have loved them all. By far this series is my favorite series by any author. Mystery , suspense, great characters and just a fast paced book. If you start this book plan on not doing much else it will keep you captivated for hours. READ TODAY!! I promise you will love this series!

EXCERPT: Josie felt an involuntary shiver run the length of her spine and hoped Charlotte didn't sense it. She was beginning to feel completely disarmed and thrown off by this strange woman who smiled as though she knew something Josie did not, who didn't sweat in ninety degree weather, and who seemed to know Josie's thoughts before she had time to articulate them.

'Listen, ' Josie said. 'I'm here as part of an investigation. We have two dead bodies and a missing female who may be ill. I don't have time for this.

Charlotte remained in place, still as a statue. 'You've never made time for it, don't you see that?' She took a step toward Josie and touched her cheek, where the long faded scar ran from Josie's ear to beneath her chin. She wanted to recoil, but her feet were frozen in place. 'Now things are coming to an end of some sort, aren't they? Whatever it is, you'll only have one chance at it, and you're wondering whether you should take it or not.'

ABOUT THIS BOOK: When a park ranger stumbles across the bodies of newlyweds Valerie and Tyler Yates by a creek in the small town of Denton, Detective Josie Quinn is first on the scene. Still reeling from the news that her abusive mother is dying, Josie suspects this is more than just accidental poisoning, and she’s right: someone jammed a crudely carved pendant necklace down Valerie’s throat before she died.

Combing the area, Josie’s team discover a third sleeping bag indicating there could have been an extra guest around the fire that night. A lucky escape? A missing victim? Or a suspect on the run? Finding this person is the key to the entire investigation…

The trail leads Josie to the gates of a farmhouse hidden deep within the forest – a special place where people go to escape, and to hide. There is a young girl there with frightened eyes and bandaged wrists who knows more than she is saying, but the next day she’s found dead, choked with a matching necklace…

With her mother’s life hanging by a thread, Josie has an impossible decision to make as she races to find the meaning of the pendant and catch this twisted killer before another innocent life is taken – but is she already too late?

MY THOUGHTS: This series, of which this is the seventh book, is addictive. And I may have said things before, but this is the best in the series, so far. I read it overnight, finishing just in time to go to work this morning. I was so absorbed in the storyline, it wasn't until I got to the end and caught my breath that I realized I hadn't highlighted any sections for my excerpt!

At the end, the author/publishers ask, 'Did this unputdownable thriller make your heart race and leave you wanting more?' My answer is a resounding 'YES!' This is not a series that continues to be strong, it is one that gets stronger with every book.

I can't say anything about this book that hasn't already been said except that if you haven't already read it, you are missing out on 'A breathtaking read!'

This is the 7th in the series, but a first for me. I enjoyed it. I don't think I missed out for not reading the earlier ones. It's a good mystery story with some nice twists and turns

Another great read from Lisa Regan. Josie and her team are investigating the deaths of a couple at a campsite in a deep wood. As they trawl through their history and examine the campsite they realise there is someone else missing. Investigations lead them to a sprawling farm where a group of people live. Is it a cult? Commune? Could they be harbouring a murderer? While driving through the woods Josie and Nate come across a bruised, bloody, heavily pregnant young and her story just adds to the mystery. All through the story Josie has to deal with the imminent death of her abusive mother which just adds to the tension
Yet again I really enjoyed catching up with Josie, Nate and all the team.

Book 7 of Josie Quinn series. This is my first book in the series I will be going back to read others. Josie and Noah are called to the woods where a couple has been found laying together murdered. All kinds of twist and turns.

Yet another incredible Josie Quinn story from Lisa Regan. I don’t think I’ll ever get enough of this series. As soon as I finish one I want to start another.
I don’t think that one was as twisty as the others in the series but it was still unbelievably jam packed with action, twists and surprises. I couldn’t have called this one at all and I loved how it ended, especially for Josie.

I would seriously recommend reading this series to EVERYONE because it is by far one of the best crime series I have ever read.

Now just to wait for the next one. I already know it’s going to be incredible.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this ARC copy.

I average about 4 to 5 books a week normally. But when I read the Josie Quinn series by Ms Regan, I will be able to polish all of the books in the series in one evening, and I honestly mean it. I just love the series, and having read this latest book, Ms Regan is without a doubt one of my ultimate favorite authors these days. Highly, and I mean it, highly recommended.

This book will get your attention right from the start with Josie's terrible nightmare about her mother abusing her as a child, unfortunately triggered from an actual memory. However, Josie has to put the dream and her issues with her mother aside to concentrate on her job. She and her boyfriend Noah, both of the Denton, Pennsylvania police department, are called to the scene of two dead bodies found in the woods. The more Josie and her team investigate the case, the more complicated it gets, but Josie is willing to put everything on the line to get justice for the victims.

The description of this book says it's a "Mystery Suspense Thriller", and I think that's accurate. It's part police procedural as Josie and team work to solve the case, but part thriller when the clues lead them to a hermit living in caves under the woods and a strange cult. This is the seventh book in the Josie Quinn series, but I've only read the one that comes right before it and had no problem catching up. I didn't like this installment quite as much as the the prior book, but it's still a very suspenseful story. Some of the scenes are so intense I became completely immersed in the story, but then the plot becomes a little too complicated. Even though the author is able to tie all of the seemingly unrelated threads together by the end of the book, the story loses some momentum with some of the subplots.

Ultimately, I like the way the case ends and how Josie deals with her personal demons and look forward to future installments. I would recommend the book to those who follow the series and anyone looking for a procedural with elements of a great thriller.

Another great addition to the series. A great cast of characters and a nail biting mystery kept me hooked to the pages. I recommend the whole series but it can be read as a standalone.
