I really enjoyed this crime novel. It was one of my favourites in the series.
I really liked the main character. The book deals with dissociate topics but handles it well.
A great book

I love Jane Casey books so I was so excited to get to this one and it did not disappoint, it follows in the same vein as the previous books and gave me everything I wanted from a crime thriller.

Thank you Harper Collins and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
This is the first Maeve Kerrigan book I have read and it won't be the last. I didn't realise it was a series.

It was easy to understand the characters and was a great story. Well written, well paced and lots of twists and turns. Can I have the other books please. Definitely recommended.

A compelling read from this very talented author. Gripping and easy to read. Now I need to go back and read the rest of the series. Recommended.

I LOVED this book! I loved the fact that along with the main story, there’s the Kerrigan-Derwent thread running alongside. Reading this book, I’m staggered that I haven’t read any of the author’s books before.

Freelance journalist, Paige Hargreaves, goes missing just as she’s about to uncover the underhand dealings that take place in gentlemen only ‘the Chiron Club’.

In the meantime, DS Maeve Kerrigan and DI Josh Derwent have been called to the edge of The Thames where body parts have been washed up.

As the story unfolds, more is uncovered with the death of another young woman and historically a male is found dead floating in a swimming pool.

Kerrigan and Derwent are a great team and no-one can miss the “will they, won’t they” running through the story.

In addition to the mystery-solving, the book deals with domestic abuse/domestic violence concluding with an excellent courtroom scene (the author’s husband is a criminal barrister so ensured that this was factually correct).

I would absolutely recommend this book. Even though it’s the ninth in the Maeve Kerrigan series, it can certainly be read on it’s own.

I rate this book 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the latest in the series featuring Maeve Kerrigan and her fellow detective, Josh. A dismembered body turns up in the Thames, other disappearances occur and missing girls lead Maeve and Josh to investigate a Men’s Club with its secretive membership and finances. It is, as are all the other books in this series, brilliantly written, with a narrative that takes you along with the action.

While the crime and the investigation are central to the story, there is also a personal back story involving Josh showing us another aspect of his character which helps to flesh him out nicely. We also have a storyline regarding Maeve and a controlling boyfriend which has disastrous consequences and which bring Maeve and Josh closer together.

I have read all these novels in order and am now getting to a stage when I am longing for the dynamic between the two leads to come to a head and so looking forward to the next in this series.

Jane Casey has written another terrific book. I now have to kick my heels and chew my nails for another year....

The Cutting Place by Jane Casey.
This book is book #9 of the Maeve Kerrigan series. This the second book from the series that I have read, and I am only sorry to have not found this series sooner.
To put it simply, I will just need to go and buy them all now. I was kept guessing right to the end of this book, and really enjoyed the storyline. I love Maeve as a character, and love her friendship with Josh Derwent.
While this book is part of a series, it definitely reads brilliantly as a standalone book.
I loved it, and very much looking forward to going back to the beginning and getting to know Maeve better.

I loved this crime thriller from Jane Casey. The background of the elite mens clubs and the crimes that they may cover up under the guise of decency and keeping their reputations is an excellent setting for DS Maeve Kerrigan's latest investigation. i found this fascinating, and while it's my first Jane Casey book, I instantly went searching for more of her work after I finished it. Excellent read!

DS Maeve Kerrigan is looking for clues while trying to solve the murder of Paige Hargreaves a 28 year old investigative journalist but she has very little to work on and very few leads. Her investigation pushes her towards an exclusive gentleman’s club called The Chiron Club. Everything here is kept hush hush here and she can't find out much information. All of the members are rich and of a certain section of Society. Maeve suspects a link with the Club to Paige’s murder a and goes about trying to find out more.

I loved the depiction of the love-hate relationship between Maeve and DI Josh Derwent (it is so obvious that they are meant for each other). The author also touches on personal issues with the subject of domestic violence within Maeve’s current relationship and a big secret Maeve has kept from Josh which is later revealed to him.

I would recommend this book to anyone interested in crime, thrillers and a good story. It’s fast paced, and you want to keep sneaking off to read it to find out more! No need to have read the previous books as it can be read as a standalone. Without a doubt, five stars from me. Thank you to NetGalley, HarperCollins UK and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first Maeve Kerrigan book I have read. I didn’t realise it was a series as it was easy to pick up the characters. It definitely won’t be the last! I really enjoyed it. The story is based upon a murder investigation team in London but also explore the lives of the detectives. Fast paced, whodunnit, twists and turns. Would 100% recommend

I absolutely love the Maeve Kerrigan series by Jane Casey

I see lots of books over Instagram and different series and I just don’t feel that this series gets the recognition it deserves.

I really do feel like these characters are my friends and that I know them!

This book is the latest in the series and it absolutely does not disappoint !!

I feel like this series would make an amazing tv detective series. I just want Derwent and Maeve to admit what they feel!! Argh!!

I couldn't believe what happened to Maeve in her relationship, but I feel that the author got an appropriate message across and it tackled a difficult subject. I really cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Although this author name was new to me but I was quite intrigued by this title and it's premise and I requested it. I found the ending was slow but it picked up after a chapter.
Paige Hargreaves was a young journalist working on a story about a club for the most privileged men in London. She was on the brink of exposing a shocking scandal. Then she disappeare DS Maeve Kerrigan must immerse herself in the club’s world of wealth, luxury and ruthless behaviour to find out what happened. But Maeve is keeping secrets of her own. Will she uncover the truth? Or will time run out for Maeve first?
DS Maeve became my favourite throughout the book. I loved its ending too. It could have been a little more crisp but overall it's a good read.

An edge of the seat thriller that grabs you straight from page one and won’t let go. A fast paced book with a storyline that keeps you awake.

For me Jane Casey can do no wrong. I have enjoyed the Kerrigan and Derwent relationship from the very beginning and marvel at the taught story-telling and clever plotting of the books.
The stars, of course are Josh Derwent and Maeve Kerrigan. Their ‘will they, won’t they’ relationship is always brilliantly drawn – and getting more realistic and moving as the novels progress. There are a couple of scenes in this books that I found quite disturbing but was pleased to discover that Josh comes to the rescue of the reader and Maeve – I am glad that Jane Casey chose not to lengthen that particular imprisonment episode.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins for an advance copy of this book.

I absolutely love the maeve Kerrigan series

the relationship between maeve and derwent is one of my favourite things about the series and I love how they just bounce off one another. Sometimes I enjoy reading more about their relationship than I do the actual storyline!!

As with all of her other books, the detective storyline is gripping and skillfully told.

Great book overall!

Are you a fan of police procedural novels? Do you adore Poirot, Frost and Wexford? If so you will love Jane Casey's Maeve Kerrigan series.
This book deals with a particularly disturbing case. Body parts have washed up on the bank of the Thames but without all the pieces it proves difficult to identify the victim. While Maeve, Josh and the rest of the team seek to do so the author gives us tantalising peeks into events that occurred two years previously. For me this ensured that the book was going to have to be read in one sitting. It's definitely not a book to settle down with if you have an early start the next day.
