The premise of this story is really interesting. Joel’s dreams allow him to see into the future...but the impact that knowledge has on him is often overwhelming. He meets and falls in love with Callie but can they live a normal life or will Joel’s dreams consume them.
I enjoyed this book. There were times I felt it dragged on a bit but the ending won me round. A lovely story!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the last few pages had me wiping away some tears.. What a book! I really don’t know where to start... it’s a slow burner as Miller builds the characters of Joel and Callie... but when it hits the middle of the story you will want to know what happens next fairly quickly and this is when I was hooked! It’s not a fast paced book, it is a love story of so many proportions, heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
Thanks to netgalley for the advanced copy of this book and opportunity to read and review prior to release in July.

A heart-breaking love story you won't forget
Joel and Callie are made for each other, but they can't stay together. Joel has the mixed blessing of seeing into their future and doesn't like what he sees. He tries to change the future. Beautifully-written, heart-breaking and uplifting, a book you'll want to read in one sitting. Holly Miller's first novel surely won't be her last. The most moving love story I've read for a long time. Would make a great film.

What a wonderful book. The characters were delightful, and so easy to like. Really enjoyed it from start to finish. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review.

The Sight of You is such a well written debut. Be prepared - it will break your heart! But ultimately, it's worth it. This isn't your average love story, but it is beautiful and I would definitely recommend it.

This book is billed as “the love story of 2020 that will break your heart” and I think it’s safe to say that it lives up to this description!
“The Sight Of You” tells the story of Joel and Callie, from the very first moment they meet. Joel is reluctant to get close to anyone because of his ability to see the future of his loved ones in dreams, instead he prefers to live his life alone. Meeting Callie throw this all up in the air though...
This is not your usual romcom, it’s a beautiful story written in a way that allows you to perfectly connect with both the character. Written using alternating viewpoints from Joel and Callie the story flows and you will want to keep reading all the way to the end.
Having just finished this I feel like I’ve gone through a rollercoaster of emotions and that last chapter will break your heart. This is a book that everyone can probably relate to and, however much we’ve probably all wondered what the future will bring at one stage of our lives, should remind us how important living for today is.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hodder & Stoughton for the ARC copy.

A beautifully written debut novel by Holly Miller. I loved it. At times its heartbreaking to read - but I found the theme of self sacrificing love also made it feel quite uplifting too?!
I adored the language Holly Miller used. From the lyrical way she described emotions to the use of the changing seasons to echo Callie and Joel’s journey.
This is not your typical boy-meets-girl story. Bring tissues!
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

awwww, my heart! It was such a heartbreaking story. So well written, I was hooked all the time and couldn't wait to follow these 2 characters.
Beautiful story and beautiful writing. 5 stars!

Beautiful, heartwarming, funny, and full of romance without the cheese. This had me hooked, right from the start. I loved how Joel and Callie’s relationship blooms following those awkward first encounters. I love how Miller is able to write such damaged characters without them coming across as unlikeable. Joel and Callie bring out the best in each other, even when they’re apart and it’s just beautiful. I won’t spoil it for you, but the ending really hit me hard; so emotional - you’ll definitely need tissues. One of my favourite reads of this year and a fabulous debut. I’ll be looking forward to more books by Miller. No pressure!
READER CAUTION: this covers mental health and references suicide, so beware.

What a really lovely book! I didn’t want to finish it!
Although a romance, it isn’t a conventional romance or full of sex and lust,. It’s unusual, sad and uplifting and gives a different meaning to love. The characters were very well drawn and believable and it will most probably make you cry.
This book was so well written, I had a job to put this down at times and I couldn’t wait to get back to it.
I’m sure it’s a bestseller and what a fabulous film it would make!

The Sight of You is a love story that will break your heart. It's beautifully written and will pull on your heart strings before breaking your heart in to tiny little pieces. It's one you will not regret reading.

A sincere thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for providing me with an ebook copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This is not my usual genre, I’m more into crime/thriller books and even psychological thrillers too so I am extremely pleased and grateful to them for opening up my mind to something totally different.

If you could see the future, how would you deal with it?
Joel's dreams are future warnings of what's going to happen in the lives of people he knows and loves; many are happy, several though are also tragic, foreseeing the death of his mother is one.
From a small child, he has had this insight.
Joel tries to steer his friends and family a certain way, so they change the outcome he has foreseen.
Joel because of his premonitions, has tended to keep himself to himself until Callie comes into his life, he tries desperately not to get involved, but the more he tries, the more he is drawn to her. Together they find love and happiness until the night he dreams of their fate.
I enjoyed this story immensely, a moving story, highly recommended read.
I want to thank NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton and Holly Miller for a pre-publication copy to review.

A thought provoking read. The characters are all well drawn. I did feel that perhaps Joel was responsible for bringing his dream about Callie to fruition.

Description
Would you choose love . . .
. . . If you knew how it would end?
Joel is afraid of the future.
Since he was a child he’s been haunted by dreams about the people he loves. Visions of what’s going to happen – the good and the bad. And the only way to prevent them is to never let anyone close to him again.
Callie can’t let go of the past.
Since her best friend died, Callie’s been lost. She knows she needs to be more spontaneous and live a bigger life. She just doesn’t know how to find a way back to the person who used to have those dreams.
Joel and Callie both need a reason to start living for today.
And though they’re not looking for each other, from the moment they meet it feels like the start of something life-changing.
Until Joel has a vision of how it’s going to end . . .
My thoughts
I love a good romance and, from the description, I knew there was something different about this one. There was romance, drama and the dilemma of knowing what the future holds – and what to do with this knowledge.
I was initially annoyed by how much of a slow burning romance this was. I really liked the way their ascent into more romantic feelings was messy, a bit awkward but – quite frankly – real. I couldn’t help but find myself shouting you guys should just kiss and get together already!? but that definitely didn’t stop me from falling head over heels in love with them.
I’m not a believer in fate but I definitely do find myself, especially in the worlds current state, questioning what will happen in the future. Sometimes I feel like I’d love to know how my future would play out but, through Joel’s narrative, Miller lets us see that this awareness isn’t always a good thing.
Both Joel and Callie were incredibly likeable. Funny, a bit awkward, and both dealing with their own troubles – difficult romantic relationships, family dramas, grief. These characters had heart and, possibly most importantly, I felt as if I could’ve easily passed either of them on the street in real life – it’s not often you get an authentic feel from characters but Miller definitely achieved it.
I’m learning as I’m getting older (she says at 22, though I alternate between feeling 18 and feeling 80 half the time!), that romance is difficult. It’s not all meet-cutes and loved up selfies, it’s taking the other person for what they are and helping each other through their troubles. Miller was brilliant at demonstrating the highs and lows of relationships, and it was even better that she did it from an age perspective I’m not used to reading (but I still felt like I could relate to them, and enjoyed reading it as if the protagonists were teens/young adults).
My only problem with this book was the fact it took a while to get to the good bit, the heart thumping romance I wanted.
Saying that, The Sight of You is a captivating, funny and heartbreaking love story – you might want the tissues for this one!
The Sight of You will be published on 11th July 2020

This is not my usual type of book but I loved it. I loved the writing, the characters, just everything. Joel sometimes has dreams where he sees into the future. Because of this he makes a momentous decision. Would I have done the same? I honestly don’t know.

A wonderful love story, beautifully written. Joel sees the people he loves in dreams - sometimes good things are going to happen to them, but usually bad. He and Callie fall in love and are very happy except for 1 thing, because he's allowed himself to love her, he has dreamed about her death. He can only see one solution - to end their romance. How will they cope with this, is it the end for their love, can any one help him overcome this? An enthralling story, a real tear jerk er. Loved it.

The Sight of You is just a wonderful story. It tells the story of Joel and Callie who meet, get to know each other and fall in love. However, there's a sting in the tail as Joel has dreams where he can foresee things happening. Without giving too much away, this is a love story on another level. It really needs to be read to understand it.
I was thankful to Netgalley for providing me with the opportunity to read this wonderful book in exchange for an honest review.
I will definitely be recommending this book to friends and fellow book lovers.

Oh, what an emotional ride!
Imagine having a gift that could give so much joy, but at the same time, suck the joy of living from you?
This was what life was like for Joel, and what stopped him from fully living his own life.
And Callie? A simple, loveable woman, who isn't quite sure where here future lies, until she meets Joel.
Add in Murphy, Callie's dog, and you have a beautiful bittersweet love story, with an ending you didn;t expect... or did you?
I absolutely loved this story of Joel and Callie, and their forever love, that just wasn't meant to be.
Descriptive, emotive writing that kept me reading all day, so I could finish the book, all the while not wanting it to end.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Hodder and Stoughton for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Firstly – this book is BEAUTIFULLY written. It’s like a classic written now – you can imagine kids studying the amazing descriptions and sentence construction and the way it draws you right in – particularly when describing the seasons / weather / nature – it is stunning. I know I shouldn’t be surprised – but often modern books feel a bit rushed, or on a production line because the author / publisher has a deadline – but it really feels like this book has been crafted and lots of care and attention to detail taken over the turn of phrase.
It is also ridiculously emotional! You are invested in Callie and Joel from the off and really want everything to work out for them – but it’s difficult to see how it will. Each chapter is written from an alternating point of view – and it swings like a pendulum between Callie and Joel.
Initially the pace is quite slow, day by day even, and you see how their initial friendship and then relationship starts. You are really rooting for both Callie and Joel and their respective baggage. The exquisite writing doesn’t take away from the fact that this is a modern book, set in current times, with familiar themes and settings.
As the book carries on the pace picks up – and the final chapters are almost annual – but it serves to build the momentum as it heads towards the conclusion. The inevitable conclusion perhaps?
It made be weep (which frankly anything does at the moment – but I think I would have even if we weren’t in the middle of a global pandemic!) It is beautiful, heart breaking, life affirming, a story of friends and family and a perfect love story.
This book is going to be one of THE books of the summer of 2020 – so I would suggest pre ordering now, so you can be one of the cool kids who reads it first!
Huge thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC – I will most definitely be buying this as gifts for friends come June 2020.
